Chapter 3:Who are you?

Anastasia POV

      I was so nervous when I walked into school the next day ,running away from Vincent wasn't such a good idea ,but if I stayed I wouldn't have gone home unscathed.

           I was scared. The only thing that I was thinking about was how unbalanced this life is. What I did wrong to be getting bullied. 

        I was walking with my head down as I always do to avoid people noticing me.

      I took each step with caution as if he was waiting for me in each corner,lucky for me I didn't run into him and went to class.

          

            When the bell rang indicating it was time for lunch I sneaked out of class with a book ,the lunch I had at home and my bottle of water ,then I made my way to my secret hideout at the back of the school.I just needed to be there first and hide for the rest of the break.

        I didn't want to get Anthony into trouble if he tried to defend me against Vincent which I doubt he would but I still don't want that scenario. Besides Sarah and Anthony started dating just a week ago I should give them some space and not be a third wheel in their relationship.

             I made my way successfully to my hideout and sat to eat and read. The principal warned students not to come here but I am sure he would make an exception if he saw me.

           I was so engrossed in reading my book that I didn't notice anyone coming.

      "Mind if I join you ?" I suddenly heard and I almost jumped up in surprise.

      "Who are you ?" I asked the stranger.

   "No one of importance I just needed a place to chill" he said as he sat on the pavement I was sitting on.

       "S..students are not allowed here" I told him hoping he would go away.

     "And what are you doing here?" He asked.

        "Am reading it's an exception" I countered.

     "Well I am tired so it's an exception as well ,don't bother me " he said grumpily and I kept quiet,I don't need to add another bully in my list.

        It didn't seem as if he was leaving so I continued reading my book ,occasionally stealing a glance of him.

      He was just there picking his nails and doing nothing else, why did he come here?

    "I'm thirsty" He suddenly said.

    Why's he telling me he's thirsty?

   " I'm thirsty "He said again.

     I didn't need to be told so I gave him my water bottle and he drank the whole water,closed the bottle and tossed it at me,it hit my hand and fell on the ground

     " You could at least give it back to me " I said as I picked it up and kept beside me.

      "Oh " he simply said.

    So rude of him .

   The bell rang shortly after and I stood up and started walking back to class but he just sat there and I wondered if he wasn't going to class.

     "Ain't you going to class?" I asked as I stopped in my tracks.

     "Nah, it's a free period," he replied.

  It's either he's a senior or he's lying.

   "You are lying " I blurted out and he arched a bow and I gulped.

   "You better leave before the teacher catches you here missy" he said .

    "OK bye" I said and scurried to class.

     "Thanks for the water " I heard him say as I was walking away.

      

   I walked into class and sat beside Sarah.

   "Where did you go? I didn't see you leave, ``she said.

   " how could you see me leave when you were so busy crushing on Anthony,you couldn't even concentrate during class " I chaffed.

      Sarah blushed .

   " I wasn't staring,I was just..."

   "Settle down everyone" the teacher walked in and said .

     Sarah sighed in relief .

       Class was always so exciting for me; it was the only fun part of highschool.

          The week passed by so quickly and it was Friday and I was surprised that I didn't run into Vincent for once.

      "Our school has a football match next week, maybe his training," Sarah told me when I asked if she had seen Henry.

       "Oh"

     "You didn't even know with all the shouting and cheering ?" She asked in disbelief.

   "I don't care"

    "Right, all you care about is studying, " Sarah said .

     While that's true I wasn't good at sports at least I know my weakness and I stay away from it.

     " Hey Anna " Sarah called as we came to a stop at her house.

     "Yea "

   "Can you help me with my math assignment please?" Sarah pleaded with puppy eyes.

    "Why should I?" I asked .

       "Pretty please" she said as she held my arm.

    "What are you even doing this weekend ?" I asked.

      "I'm going on a date, " she said.

    Oh she's going on a date with Anthony that sounds nice.

        I remember when I helped most of my classmates do their assignments just so that they would like me and treat me better but it just worsened the whole situation. They took their dog who barks whenever they said so and said awful words to me so I stopped, but Sarah is the only one I can do that for.  

    "Fine but I will explain it and send it to you. I won't be taking your assignment," I said.

   "Oh thank you" Sarah squealed and hugged me.

    "Oh get off me " I said as I tried to push her off me but she held me tighter so I gave up and let her have her way until she let go and scurried into her house and I continued on my way home.

       Our house wasn't that far away from school but I never went to school with her because she's a chronic latecomer.

            I got into the house and finally I took in a refreshing breath. The weekend is upon us and nothing is going to ruin it .

        I could read all I want and try solving new math questions.

       Nothing can be better than this freedom.
