Alexis’s POV
Don’t be deceived. The thrill of turning a new age disappears completely after that day. It’s been a full complete week since my birthday and, other than those few minutes of sensation last week, I don’t feel any different than I was when I was 17.
My parents say it’s perfectly normal but that my werewolf would naturally want to bond with me in the coming months. I guess I’ll be waiting until then.
“We’re heading to the pack house for a meeting with Alexis and your mother and I probably won't be back until late tonight. Will you be okay alone?”
My mother butts into the conversation “Or should we call Tonia to stay with you until we’re back?”
I resist the urge to yell that I’m now an adult and settle for a loud disappointed sigh. I groaned loudly and replied. “Yes, I’ll be okay on my own, I don’t need you to call me a babysitter.”
Surprised by my outburst, they both keep quiet and go on about packing their things. About five minutes later, they leave the house after giving me several instructions…some of which I do not plan to obey.
Two hours later, I’m bored out of my mind and I pick up my phone to text my friends to see if they can come over so that we could all do something interesting. Before I can send the message, the doorbell rings and I pause and listen for a few more seconds to check if I’m not hearing things.
Only a few people know about the doorbell…so who could that be?
Whoever is on the other side of the door sounds impatient, and they tap on the doorbell two more times. I stood from my position on the couch and walked straight to the door, wondering who it could be.
Maybe it was Drake….he liked coming over a lot since my parents were less pushovers compared to his.
A tingling sensation travels up my fingers as I grip the door’s handle. My brain barely registers why, and I swing it open without a second thought.
All the air is knocked out of me as my eyes land on the only face I’ve longed to see all these years. His face is more mature than I remember, and he’s taller too.
“Alexandra” I mumbled, taking a small step towards him. Alexandra clicks his tongue and swears loud enough for me to hear. He doesn’t look happy to see me, instead he looks frustrated and disappointed.
But why?
He’s the one who left, and I’ve been the one waiting and wishing for his arrival….
After all these years when he was the one that left without giving me a reason why. Why is he looking like he doesn’t want to see me? Like he doesn’t care about my wellbeing when I’ve been worried about his?
“This is a mistake.” Was all he said before transforming into his werewolf and making a run for it in the direction of the forest. Confused, I rested on the wooden frame of the door, gripping the handle for stability.
Someone I didn’t notice cleared their throat and I looked up to see a woman maybe the same age as Alexandra standing there with an awkward smile on her face. I apologize and opened the door wider so that she could enter the house.
“I’m Gena Mills and you must be Alexis.”
I stand there still dumbfounded by my brother’s action, thinking…just how long is he going to run? I just looked at her pretty older face and registered in my mind that she must be his mate.
She stretches her hand and introduces herself. “I’m your brother’s mate.” I muster a smile despite my sour feeling and shake her hand, then I carry her bag despite her disapproval and take her to Alexandra’s old room.
While she’s in the shower washing off from their long journey, I eye my phone and debate about whether I should call my parents or not. I decide against it and go on to prepare something for Gena and Alexandra.
I take out the pasta and fill up a pot halfway with water, I turn off the tap and wonder why Alexandra came back after all these years…why he never thought to call or even visit….his reason for leaving in the first place.
I groan and angrily dump the pot on the cooker, splashing water all over the place.
“Darn you Alexander!” I exclaimed, not caring that his mate was just above me. He had better come back to his senses, so I can ask him my list of five-year-long questions.
Gena comes down the stairs looking even prettier and I wonder why a woman as elegant and stylish as she accepted someone as dumb and cowardly as my brother. I shrugged off the thought and informed her. “The food will be ready in a short while.”
“Thank you, Alexis.” She takes one glance around the living room and asks “What about your parents?”
I put on the TV and settled on a channel that I think she’d like. “They went for a meeting at the pack house, and they won’t be back until tonight or early tomorrow morning.”
“Oh I see….so they must be like council members?” Gena asks with one of her perfectly shaped eyebrows raised. I replied “Something like that, I guess. But I won’t tell them that you and my brother are here…I want them to get the same shock I had when I saw that punk.”
Gena’s eyes widened in surprise and I held back my laughter at her expression.
Confidently, I tell her, “He’s a punk until he tells me the reason why he left and why he came back. Until then, I’ll forget that he’s my elder brother whom I should love and respect without question.”
Gena surprises me by raising her hand for a high-five, and then she says, “You know what? I’m in on this with you…I think it’s time we taught that punk a lesson.”
'I think I’m going to love Alexandra’s mate'. I wanted to scream that out loud.
Alexandra’s POVIt was a mistake to come back….a very big stupid one. What the hell was I thinking about coming back to this damn pack? Everything is the same as I left it! Hell my wolf still gets crazy at the sight of Alexis, my sister. And I cannot stand the sweet scent that’s rolling off her body in waves. Is this a prank by the moon goddess? Did she get a kick out of making two blood-related siblings mates?"Mate isn’t sister." My wolf sneered angrily, all he wanted was to connect and mate. But he didn’t get it…he couldn’t understand it.I had been outside for close to six hours and now the sky had darkened considerably. The thing is, I want to avoid Alexis because I’m not sure if I can subdue my wolf in her presence, and I’m only left with two options. One is to go back tonight with Gena, and the other is to be a man and subdue my wolf so that I can at least stay a day with my family. In the end, I picked option number two and walked back home sullenly wondering what excuse I was
Alexis’s POVThe rest of dinner is silent thanks to Alexandra’s speech about not being my brother or their son. It’s perfectly safe to say that my parents won’t be spending the night in this house because of the crackling tension in the atmosphere. I don’t know what’s more horrifying to them…the thought that Alexandra doesn’t see himself as their son for the mean time or the fact that I disobeyed them in a way I’ve never done before.Whatever it is, I think it’s going to take time for them to realize that we’re now adults, and we’re free to have our own say.The second our parents leave the table, I blurt out what has been on my mind since his little speech. “Five years older, and you’re still horrible at giving speeches.”Gena’s loud laughter rings through the dining room and I raise my cup of juice to my lips to hide my smile. Alexandra shakes his head and rubs his eyes like he’s in pain, when he looks up at me, he has a sad, longing smile on his face.“You know what? I’m going to
Alexis POVThe next morning, I trotted down the stairs, rubbing my sleepy eyes. I still felt sleepy, but at the same time, I couldn’t close my eyes without the image of my brother holding me flash through my mind.I didn’t want to think about it, but at the same time, I couldn’t help myself. I got into the kitchen to get water and the very image that perturbed my sleep last night was standing by the counter drinking water.Staring at where he stood. It reminded me of yesterday. He saw me and he almost choked on the water. He dropped the glass. I walked up to him bracing myself for what I was about to say. “Alex..” I began. As soon as I called his name, he walked out of the kitchen ensuring that our bodies did not touch even the slightest bit. I stared after his retreating figure in shock and annoyance. Why was the bloody hell of a brother ignoring me? Was it because of yesterday? Did he feel it too? I pondered.“No, I don’t think so. He’s been ignoring you since he came back from wh
Alexis’s POVI took a step back in shock at what my own brother had just said to me. How was I his problem?“You annoy me, Alexis. You irritate me!” He yelled, not stopping there. “Despite every time I try to avoid you, you still find way to stir up things and be in places you’re not supposed to be!”Be in places I was not supposed to be? What the bloody hell was he talking about now? Instead of questioning him, I mellowed. Saddened by his own anger. “If that’s how I make you feel, so be it,” I replied and ran out of his room.I went into mine and slammed the door as I blinked back the tears that threatened to break me. Why was my brother treating me this way? We’ve been so close since our childhood. Why did he suddenly change towards me? I pondered. There was no way I could ask him anything now. It was obvious. Alexander wanted me to stay away from him.*********Alexander’s POVMy wolf howled in anger for the way I had just treated his mate. I had lied to her just to get her off my
Alexis’s POV “Since when do you bother about our whereabouts?” Mom asked me.I stared at her. Was she for real right now? “It’s almost two days now and we’ve heard nothing from you both,” I replied.Dad sighed. “Look, Lexi. Your mom and I had to go cool off after the offending words your brother said to us. Let’s not start fighting.”“I’m not fighting. It was Mom who gave me an incredible answer,” I responded, staring at her. Why was everyone harsh today?“I hope you understand. We were hurt and had to go let off some steam. We’re better now and back home. Isn’t that all that matters?” Dad said. He seemed to be more calm and collected than Mom.I shrugged. “I guess,”“Is your brother still here?” Mom asked.I nodded and walked back to the kitchen. Gena was almost done with cooking. “I heard voices. Are your parents back?” She asked.“Yeah,” I replied. ***It was dinner time when Alexander finally got out of his room. He got closer to the dining table and when he saw me; he looked aw
Alexander’s POV My heart thumped against my chest as I realized that I just voiced out what I had been keeping inside of me for five years. I was so angry and frustrated. All the pent up emotions I concealed for a long time were finally revealed.Immediately, I saw her come out of the house, I knew I was in trouble. My wolf was threatening to surface, and I was doing my best to subdue it.When it felt like I was finally succeeding in keeping my wolf in check and stopping it from reacting or taking her in my arms, she broke down and said words that ignited all the emotions that raged inside of me.My wolf broke free from where I had him cornered and I couldn’t hold back as I told her she was my mate. Seeing the confusion and shock in her eyes had guilt sinking into my stomach.“How?” she finally spoke after a moment of intense silence.I kept quiet and looked away.“How, Alex?” she reiterated.“Look, I don’t know, okay?” I replied, raising my voice as I raked my fingers through my hair
Alexis’s POV“Hey, you. You seem so happy this morning,” Gena said to him.He grinned. “Yeah. It’s because of you,” he replied and leaned in to kiss her lips.I coughed, which broke them apart. “I had something in my throat,” I said when all eyes were in my direction.Alex let go of Gena, took the bottle of water he came for and left the kitchen without sparing me a glance. I had expected that he would treat me indifferently after his confession, but no. Foolish of me to have thought of that. The jerk! I fumed.“Alexis?” Gena jolted me out of my thoughts. “Uh?” I looked at her.“You wanted to see me,” she said.“Oh, yeah,” I remembered the sole reason why I had came down from my room.“What for, if I may ask?” Mom asked.“Don’t worry, mom. It’s nothing an old lady should hear,” I teased her as I held Gena’s hand, leading her out of the kitchen.“Are you calling your mother old?” Mom called after me.“Yeah!” I replied, laughing.“No breakfast for you!” She yelled jokingly.I chuckled
Alex’s POVDespite telling Alexis that she was my mate, I concluded in my heart that I wouldn’t treat her as one. With the recent happenings and what I have discovered all those years, I could no longer deny the fact that Alexis was truly my mate. There was no mistaking. The moon goddess knew all about this. But why? The question kept coming to my head, but as usual, there was no answer.I was in my father’s study, buried in one of his books concerning the long history of the pack. I needed a distraction and his library seemed to be the perfect escape.A knock came on the door. “Yes,” my answer came out more gruffly than I expected.“It’s Gena,”I heard Gena’s voice outside the door.I exhaled deeply. “Come in,” I said, despite knowing that I didn’t want to be disturbed. But, there was no way I could have her standing by the door, especially after I displayed affection for her earlier this morning. The door knob turned and she walked in. “I was wondering where you were,” she said, smi
Alex's POVA month laterI was relaxing at home after training when Alpha Mark sent for me. I sat on the porch of the cabin I shared with Alexis, sipping a cup of coffee.Alexis was back from work. She had been trained on how to teach young pups basic things since she had always loved to have kids around her. She was reading a novel beside me on the porch. We had been through a lot and thought we had found a life here. A new beginning, we called it. Away from our parent's tainting. The sound of footsteps approaching us made us alert and turned to the direction. I looked up to see Killian, a pack member of Greenwolf walking towards the cabin. Killian was a newfound friend that we both got to be a lover of the game.“Good afternoon,” he greeted with a smile.“Hello Alexis, looking beautiful as always,” he teased Alexis as he always did.“You've come to get your ass whooped as usual,” I joked. We both played soccer around this time of the day. “Don't get over your head, I might just co
Alexis's POV He groaned, his tongue slipping into my mouth again. His hand glided over my shirt and he pushed back, kneeling in-between my legs as he unbuttoned his shirt, while I pulled my top over my head. I felt Alex's hand grip the waistband of my pants. I lifted my butt so he could remove them and he dropped them off by the side of the bed before staring down at me.Tyson kissed me gently, his lips moving against mine and he sucked my lower lip in his mouth. Sparks rush over my skin when grinded his hips against mine. His erection pressing against me and I gasp at the feel of the sparks rushing over my skin straight to my pussy. His lips devouring mine as he tastes every inch of my mouth, his tongue demanding as it fights mine for dominance which I let him have. His hand moved down my side and he growled against my lips when he cupped my breast. I rolled my hips against him, my hand moving down his chest and abs to pants. I pushed it down a little, his dick now free as he took o
Chapter 130Alexis's POVTwo Weeks LaterLiving here in the Greenwolf pack these past weeks has been incredible and one of the best things that’s ever happened to me since Alpha Kane kidnapped me to the Nightwolf pack months back. It's been peaceful. The shadows of Julia and Richard lurking in the shadows no longer loomed over us. Their punishment was out of our hands now, with the council in charge. All that mattered to me was that Alex and I could finally move forward without looking over our shoulders. Alpha Kane was dead too and the new Alpha was in no way interested in us. I leaned against Alex’s shoulder as we sat curled up in the living room of the house we’d been given, watching a movie. I had never imagined that after everything, we would find peace in such a simple way. I glanced up at him, taking in the relaxed smile on his face. He pulled me closer in between his laps, placed my head gently on his chest and I felt my heart skip a beat. “Do you like the movie?” I asked s
Alex's POVThe Next DayAs I stood in front of the Shadow Pack’s central gathering hall. I had an important task at hand. Exposing my parents' horrible deeds. The thought twisted my stomach. It wasn't an easy task but I knew it was something I had to do. It was time everyone else knew what they've been up to eventually and I would never want to be caught as an accomplice covering up their evil acts. Alexis stood beside me, her hand gripping mine tightly. Her presence was a reminder of what was important, of why I had to do this. We had both been victims of my parents' twisted ambitions. She had been kidnapped, just like me, raised in lies and manipulated for power. After the fight settled, I had called Beta Conor to inform the elders and pack members that I would love to address everyone before the coronation day. Beta Conor didn't question me since I was going to be the new Alpha. He knew he had to do whatever I wanted so he didn't get on my bad side. The elders were inside, along
Alex’s POVThe Moonlight was meant to make the atmosphere peaceful on a normal circumstances but today its gives an unsettling feeling to the turmoil within me. The air was thick with tension, and I could feel the weight of it pressing down on me. My heart pounded in my chest at the thought of what we were about to do and the danger it holds.Battleground isn’t on my favorite places to be and have been doing more of it this past few months. As I crouched behind the tree line, I glanced over at the fighters from the Greenwolf pack who had come to help me. I looked into their face and the realization that I was bring some of them to their graves dawned on me. Yet, they knew what was at stake. My eyes scanned the area ahead, and I could see the goons guarding the place where Alexis was being held. Alpha Kane was here, his car with the his pack's crest was packed outside and so were his warriors. I gritted my teeth. A big coincidence to be here say night he's here as well. Thank the Mo
Alpha Kane’s POVSitting in my office, I stared out the window at the night sky. My thoughts raced, circling back to the one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about, Alexis. It been weeks since she left. The Elders are now growing impatient, constantly asking where Alexis was and when the Luna ceremony would finally take place. I had tried my best to come up different excuses like telling them she was visiting her parents, but I knew that lie wouldn’t hold up much longer.Richard told me she was back to the pack but he didn't wants to bring her back right away so he can put Alex under control but now he had called.Alexis was being held at the outskirts of the Shadow Pack. He said I could come and get her. That smug bastard. Richard had been playing me from the beginning. He had promised me Alexis as a term for our alliance and I had no choice but to take her as my Luna, despite knowing she wasn’t my mate. Richard had later revealed while we were searching for they that Alexis and Alex
Alexis’s POVIt had been a few hours since Alex left the house. He went to see Anton in town. After much thought about what to do, we felt the right thing is to bring in someone more powerful and influential. I wasn’t sure what was making me feel so uneasy, but the nagging sense that something wasn’t right refused to leave me. Maybe it was because of what happened the last time he left me alone in the house or it was just the after-effects of everything I had been through in the past few months. Whatever it was, I couldn't shake it.I tried to distract myself by checking through reels online. But none of it helped. Then, I heard the front door open. I went outside, expecting to see Alex but instead, standing in the doorway were Julia and Richard. “Lexis, how are you doing sweet?” Julia asked, with a sweet smile as she walked towards me.“I'm okay,” I said, turning my back to leave.“What of Alex?” Richard asked, scanning around with his eyes.“Out to get things,” I responded quickly
Alexi's POV A few days later, I was summoned to the Council meeting. They told me they've consulted the pack shaman and a date will be picked soon for the Alpha's coronation. I might not be able to undergo the necessary training. They want to hasten the whole process. I sat in the room and I couldn't help but wonder how the Elders would react when they found out my parents had been orchestrating and manipulating lots of things going on in this pack. Richard expected to make a move during the meeting but I said nothing and after the meeting, I slipped out to avoid unnecessary talks. I knew after I left, there would be other talks between the elders so I made my way home quickly. Julia was busy. She was in charge of getting the whole thing needed for the coronation. On getting home, without wasting any more time, I grabbed my things and made my way back to the Greenwolf Pack. The drive felt like it took forever. I kept imagining Alexis in some cold, dark place, held prisoner because o
Alex's POV “Fuck,” I banged the steering wheel. All hopes were dashed when my instincts told me I was being followed. Meeting Alpha Mark was meant to be a secret but unfortunately they knew I was up to something now. We've been portraying the good children since we went back to Shadow Pack and tried to uncover things in secret. We've looked for clues at home when our parents weren't around. Checked out their study room and the documents but nothing. After Ophelia said every lead she gets has been a long list of dead people, I knew this was out of my hands and my parents were too influenced, the more reason I had to involve Alpha Mark. Now I'm being followed which says a lot. Whoever was following me must be working for my parents or Alpha Kane, yet Alpha Kane will still have to report back to Richard. I stepped on the accelerator and drove faster, turning in different directions, to confirm the black sedan car was trailing after me and I was right, it took every turn I took as wel
