Everything was going perfectly as I planned. I leaned back in my chair, a satisfied smirk spread on my face. The meeting with the Elders had gone better than I could have imagined. They had finally made the decision I had been waiting for. Alex had been chosen as the next Alpha of the Shadow Pack, just as I had planned all along.

Julia would be thrilled when I told her the news. She wasn't home. After all, this had always been our dream, to have our son rise to the position of Alpha, securing our legacy within the pack for generations to come. But there was still one problem: Alex.
