Eighty-seventh Chapter

Days after Chyna's appearance, David's visit and exchange of the incriminating recording, my life seemed back to normal. In order not to have any targets on my back, David refused to involve me in whatever case he had with his wife. In addition to that, I wasn't allowed to call or meet up with him, while he sorted things out. I was to wait until he informed me that everything had died down, before we resumed our activities. I was practically left in the dark.

With the remote in my right hand, I surfed through the available programs on tv. Nothing seemed to interest me. The clattering of pots, plates and other kitchen utensils occasionally traveled through the air as Maya prepared whatever she had decided on for our lunch. I was unusually hungry, even after I had consumed an entire sandwich less than an hour ago.

My eyes darted away from the TV when I heard an intruding sound. It came from the door.

“I'll get it."
