"Lemi, please get me out of here."

"What happened? I saw you leaving and followed you."

"Just get me out of this place, please."

"But what about my brother?"

"Don't tell me your brother's name. If you don't help me get out of here, I'll go alone."

We walked to the parking lot, my heels sinking into some small holes between the sidewalk stones. Lemi was kind to me and accompanied me patiently. We reached where he had parked the car he had come to the event in. He opened the door for me, and I got in without thinking.

"Are you sure?" he said as he got into the car and gently held my hand.

"Yes, I don't want to be a part of a story that isn't mine anymore."

My fairy tale didn't last long, just like everything good in my life. Now, I would be discarded, just as Berna had told me I would be. I was afraid of what was to come, and I can say that even my body was trembling. Anxiety and anger made my legs shake.
