Frederick glanced at him indifferently, then cocked his head to look up at the sky.

"Didn't you say you weren't afraid of death?"

Xavier was in a wretched state, and he couldn't care less about dignity at this moment. He pleaded in a low voice, "It's all my fault! It's all on me! Frederick, please, give me the needle! I'm dying! I really can't hold on much longer… I'm afraid of dying! I'm terrified!"

"You won't die. I've placed a barrier around this entire mountain to suppress your condition. Otherwise, how could you have survived long enough to come see me?" Frederick said, his lips curved into a cold smile.

Xavier was stunned, only now realizing several hours had passed. By all rights, he should have died long ago.

"Listen to me now. I have three demands. If you dare refuse any of them, forget about getting back the needle," Frederick said eloquently. "First, compensate the laborers and give them a public apology. It must be in the newspapers."

Xavier agreed without hesitation.
