Chapter 10 : Mind Control Games, Part 2.

*Gwen’s POV*

My hand fell to my side as I stared at him, still in utter disbelief. His voice echoed in my mind: “Stay.”

It was soft but firm—almost like a request rather than a command. But either way, I knew he was up to something.

"What? Is this some type of sick joke?"

I was suspicious of Darick's motive. I had never encountered a vampire before, and my gut instinct told me not to trust one, ever.

"No. I'm serious,” he stated. “You can leave."

This entire time, Darick hadn't moved or beat me to the door with his special abilities. I stared him down and when he raised an eyebrow at me, I knew it was game on.

Filled with panic and excitment, I frantically grabbed the knob and opened the door. My hands were shaking, and my legs were trembling, but as I stared into the dimly lit and gloomy hallway, I knew my freedom wasn’t far away.

"Yes!" I shouted and stepped forward when suddenly it felt like I had walked into a brick wall.
