“What is this?!” Jaxon snapped at Gavin, who looked bored looking at the cuticles of his fingers on his left hand.
“Oh, I forgot about that,” Gavin replied innocently.
Jaxon was about to jump over the table that separated the two, but his body was immediately dragged away by his three friends away from the table.
Gavin, who accepted Jaxon’s rage, just shrugged and hid behind Rey’s body.
Danny Johanson laughed with amusement when he read the newspaper that was still spread out on the table, even Nicko Anderson, who was holding Jaxon’s body, couldn’t help but laugh, adding to Jaxon’s angry fire. Gideon Rose and Connor Black were forced to drag Jaxon, their best friend, to the corner of the room.
Rey glared at Gavin, who only gave an innocent face back. He raised his face, praying that he would disappear from the place. The commotion Gavin was creating made him lose his temper. He even thought of the best way to hide Gavin’s body — the corpse — in one of his old warehouses, or maybe Doctor Timothy’s hospital incinerator would be enough.
Rey shook his head, thinking it would be too messy for his best friend to die. What’s more, who will care for Blacky - Gavin’s pet snake? He loves the narcissist snake, so killing Gavin is not a good option for now.
“May I know why you paid the Morning Newspaper to make this ridiculous headline, Gavin?” Rey asked while taking the newspaper from the table and experiencing the meaning of the bold print which became the Headline that morning.
He looked at their meeting room that was free of the “party” impression and reckoned that it was evident that no one had attended the room unless only seven of them, regular members or perhaps the host.
“I don’t mean anything. We shouldn’t announce to the people of Denver that there’s a party here?” explained Gavin, which made Jaxon boil even more.
You don’t remember, or maybe amnesia, Gavin, this is my castle,” he growled.
Gavin and his innocent face seemed surprised, “Oh, of course, how I forgot, Jaxon. Do you remember a few months ago, you invited the whole population of Denver to my mansion? “
“Hey! That day is your birthday! I just want to surprise you! “
“The birthday you forgot was past five months before your surprise event? Hah! Who made the surprise five months after the date passed?”
All eyes are on Jaxon, who has the nickname with his flagship slogan, Mister Not Late Yet. He always said, “it was never too late,” whenever he forgot.
“Is this Gavin’s revenge? Because it seems like you confessed your grudge with the explanation just now. “
“Are you accusing me, Jaxon? Because I’m not leading your opinion.”
Jaxon almost lunged at Gavin. If only Gideon didn’t lock his arms around his body, even though he dragged him halfway along. Luckily Connor helped slow down Jaxon’s pace.
“Get off me, Connor! I promise I will leave half his face!” which means the other side must be destroyed.
Without realizing it, Gavin touched his cheeks as if it could avoid Jaxon’s anger.
Rey rolled his eyes and threw the newspaper in his hand to the table.
They waited for Jaxon’s anger to subside before releasing him but did not let go of their gaze because Jaxon might just jump in and bulldoze Gavin when caught off guard.
It’s a shame if Gavin’s handsome face has to be reconstructed by Jaxon’s hands which are certainly not soft at all. Many heartbroken women in Denver will cry a day and seven nights and flood to drown this city.
Danny smiled and watched the show before him with amusement. It had been a long time since they had come together like this. At first, he had wondered why Gavin had invited himself and the others to Aurelia Castle, a sacred place to Jaxon.
He chuckled, remembering Jaxon’s face when he opened the door for the six of them.
“Are you getting anyone’s attention, Gavin? It’s obvious you’re making an announcement here.” Gideon stared at the newspaper with a frown.
Jaxon, whose anger subsided, returned to his seat, although his eyes were still sharp, skinning Gavin, who was sitting far across. If Rey hadn’t closed the path to Gavin, then Gavin Caleston’s name would remain a gravestone.
“It doesn’t mean anything, really!” defended Gavin, who received dubious looks from six pairs of eyes. “Nick, how’s your new project?” he asked, changing the subject.
Nicko raised an eyebrow at the question. He hated it when Gavin played dirty to distract their conversation. Now the six pairs of eyes shift focus toward him.
He’s stalling as sweetly as possible. Enjoy a glass of Americano while others sip whiskey or other liqueur.
“I still have to complete some architectural layouts for the building to be built. My team still hasn’t finalized what buildings we need right now,” he said, explaining the project to build a playground near Blueberry Hill.
“You need a new concept? I can discuss it with my team,” said Danny offered.
“Well, my team and I are still using the old concept. Thank you, Dan.”
“Then, how about you, Rey?” Gavin asked innocently to Rey, deliberately avoiding any new questions back to him.
“Nice turn, dude,” Rey hissed as he tapped Gavin’s head lightly.
“Ouch!” Gavin’s grimace was dramatic.
“Yes, Rey, how about you?” asked Jaxon with a smirk. Revenge for protecting Gavin.
Rey sighed heavily and prayed his patience remained to nail his ass to the chair he was sitting on.
“Nothing has changed, and nothing to talk about,” he said as he took a sip of the drink he hadn’t touched since earlier.
Gideon and Nicko looked at each other, and both shook their heads. Only Rey was the hardest to talk to whenever there was a meeting like this. It took a solid push to make his stone heads melt away and make him talk. Even his lips will remain locked tight from the start until their meeting is finished if no one forces him.
“Is there a problem you want to talk about?” Jaxon asked as he patted Rey on the back, who shook his head in return.
“You better worry about him, Jaxon,” said Nicko, pointing at Gideon, who had been anxiously checking his cell phone every few seconds.
The six pairs of eyes were now watching Gideon, who had a dark face.
“Oh, shouldn’t I worry about the job I left behind?” Gideon asked irritably.
“Kalista said today you have no work,” said Gavin, who finished his homework before inviting them to Aurelia Castle.
This time, Nicko and Jaxon were on standby before Gideon jumped over the table.
“Gavin!” growled Rey, Jaxon, Nicko, Danny, and Connor in unison.
“Remind me why he got into this private circle.” Gideon pointed fiercely at Gavin.
Red Cage is a network they deliberately built to make them strong and not underestimated among the mafia, cartels, kingpins, motorcycle clubs, the government or politicians, and other businessmen.
There are ten original members of Red Cage. Currently, only seven are active, while three more are busy with personal matters, so they rarely attend meetings, but they always have a full member meeting at least once a year.
“Hey Gee, can I date Kalista?” asked Gavin, which made Gideon lose his temper. Jaxon had to grab Gideon’s shoulders and lock him on the sofa.
“Don’t call me with that name! For God’s sake, Gavin, if you don’t lock your lips too, I make sure your seven body parts are scattered across the bay of California! And stay away from Kalista! For God’s Sake, that girl has only recently celebrated her eighteenth birthday! “
“Perfect, I’m waiting for the legal age. Thanks for the good news, Gee.”
Gideon’s fist barely touched Gavin’s face if Rey hadn’t grabbed Gavin’s collar and moved him to the floor, away from the sofa.
Connor recorded the incident on his cellphone and sent the video to their group to make a joke later.
“Connor!” snapped Gideon distracting him. But Jaxon moved quickly and calmed his friend, but his two friends still ended up on the floor. Connor returned Gideon’s punch while locking him on the floor. Jaxon didn’t expect how quickly things turned around now.
“Hey, Gavin. Kalista is not a good discussion topic, buddy,” Rey hissed.
Gavin leaned forward and whispered in Rey’s ear, “You think I don’t know? Just by teasing the girl’s name, he immediately lost his head. Right now, he needs something to distract himself from his phone.”
Sometimes Rey wonders why they could understand each other’s thoughts because this was what Gideon needed. Releasing excessive energy by fighting between them.
The sound of crystal glasses hitting the floor caught everyone’s attention, their gaze fixed on the newcomer to the room. A honey-haired girl with an angelic face stood still at the door.
The girl looked around with a face guilty that she had accidentally smashed a vase to the floor.
Gideon pulled the exhausted Connor to the floor while Jaxon, standing between them, now stood in front of the girl.
“Ahem ...,” the honey-haired girl clear her throat. “Well, hay. My name is Mia Heart. I’m here looking for Jaxon Bradwood.”
Silence surrounded the room. Mia stood nervously, and she got observation glances from seven pairs of eyes. She felt like antiques in a museum being observed. None of the handsome men in the room moved and returned the greeting, except for one person, a man with blonde hair and a cute face standing by the sofa. The man smiled at her, but he seemed to withhold in amusement. Mia doesn’t even understand where the funny thing is. “My name is Mia He―” “We heard your name just now. No need to introduce yourself twice.” Mia glared at the man standing in front of her. She ignored the handsome man because of his rude attitude, but a sweet scent of citrus and sandalwood greeted her, reminding her of something. Fully aware, Mia approached the man and pulled hard on his black suit so that his body leaned forward. She ignored his angry gaze or the sharp sound of his breathing. She shamelessly sniffed the scent on the man’s suit. More precisely, she almost kissed the handsome man’s chest. Sure
I can’t believe it. Mia thought when she was locked up in a room, even two armed men were now guarding behind the door. Anger made her unable to sit still. She waited in the room for a long time, but until dinner was delivered, the man she was waiting for did not come either. “I don’t need these foods. Bring it all back, and let me out!” she exclaimed irritably at the young man delivering a trolley full of food. The young man looked calm, as if no one was talking in the room. Feeling neglected, Mia started screaming and didn’t touch the food served. “At least tell me where Jaxon Bradwood is. I don’t want to be in this place, and I need to talk to him!” Mia held the young man’s arm as he was about to sneak out this time. The young man released Mia’s grip, leaving her locked. At least an hour later, the man she was waiting for came over to her. Mia waited in anticipation when she heard the sound of a lock, and his figure filled the door. At first, they just stared at each other
Four days. Mia mumbles while pacing in her locked room. She did not think Jaxon had kept her prisoner for four days in the castle. She had never seen Jaxon since four days ago. It felt like she wanted to scream in frustration. “Hey! I know someone is behind this door. Don’t pretend you didn’t hear me! I need the sun and fresh air!” She pounded on the door in front of her many times, but there was no response. She hated the feeling of helplessness. Several times Mia banged on the door again until finally, she felt tired, then left the door and lay on the bed. That was her position when Jaxon entered the room a few hours later. “Four days, Mr. Bradwood. You kept me prisoner for four days! “Mia slowly got up and sat opposite Jaxon, standing on the other side. “I’m not holding you, Miss Heart. This is just a special treatment that I rarely give my guests.” Mia was about to say something, but Jaxon gave a silent gesture with one hand raised. “Before you say something that will only ge
Two men lay helplessly inside the dungeon of the Red Cage Building. Bloodstained both of the man’s clothes. Their gaze was half focused on a figure standing in the center of the room. A tall body rose with clenched fists drenched in fresh blood that dripped onto the ends of his shiny leather shoes. “That’s enough, Jax,” said Rey, who had been watching Jaxon beat up the two men to death. Jaxon didn’t listen to Rey’s words. His hands quickly grabbed the forearm from behind his back. Jaxon seemed to shut down his conscious senses to his surroundings, drowning in the murderous desire that enveloped his body. “Jax!” Rey rushed towards Jaxon and pulled out his elbow, aimed at the two men. “They’re already helpless, brother,” he whispered as he tapped Jaxon’s shoulder, bringing him to his senses. Jaxon’s mood has been bad lately. He didn’t want Jaxon to return to being the monster that ruled him. “You know how I work, Rey. These two men clearly challenge me. “ Yesterday they found more
Since morning Mia has explored the room in Aurelia Castle. She was amazed by this building. Even though this castle is a new building, everything in the castle depicts medieval style. Grand but classic and extraordinary. Now she can’t sleep after dinner. Her mind is always wandering to Blueberries. She still has no permission to take her personal belongings, including her cell phone. She thought about Matt, who must be worried. Not wanting to be lost in evil thoughts, Mia decided to leave the room, and maybe by going around the castle, she could divert her mind. Mia remembered the library shown by a butler named Snow. Seeing a large room’s neatly arranged collection of books on shelves made Mia even more amazed by the castle. Mia brought herself to the library in slow steps and was careful not to wake anyone at this late hour. Her steps stopped when she found a masculine figure facing the window, his back to her. With one hand in his pocket, while the other holding a crystal glass,
Mia’s face flushed red, remembering what happened last night. Luckily it was too early, so the dining table was quiet, and only a few servants were on duty. Even though she prayed that morning, Jaxon was not at Aurelia Castle because she could not make eye contact with his beautiful dark eyes. “Did you sleep well?” And that hope was dashed as his masculine voice filled the quiet dining room. “Yes,” Mia replied, lowering her head even more without even looking at Jaxon, who was sitting at the head of the table not far from her. Jaxon saw Mia’s reaction. He worked hard to keep his delighted grin hidden. It’s too early to make fun of the poor girl. A servant came into the room with a trolley full of food. After having breakfast served, Mia ventured to glance at Jaxon. For some reason, Jaxon had become handsome several times this morning. Even though only with a white shirt whose sleeves are folded to the elbows, and wet hair after a bath, he looks younger. His dark eyes seemed to glo
Living in Denver is not as bad as Mia thought. Quite the opposite. She made new friends very fast. All the employees at De La Crush treat her friendly. Normally at Blueberry Hill, she would spend her free time cooped up in her studio apartment, but in Denver, she was invited to hang out most nights after her shift was done. Sometimes her new friends invite her to several clubs or just hang out at a nearby cafe, and she feels happy that her days are no longer alone. Her sandwich lunch ends with the arrival of a collection of foods from an unknown man who left the food with Grant. She felt sure that Jaxon was behind it all. Even though he visited De La Crush numerous times and asked Mia to accompany him for dinner or lunch, Jaxon never visited her apartment, which baffled her. After all, having dinner together doesn’t mean they are exclusive, right? Thinking of a relationship with a man like Jaxon is also impossible. A man like him sure has a catalog of beautiful women in every corne
The voices of conversation woke Mia. Her head moved slightly when she heard Jaxon say something to someone. “I want to vomit,” complained Mia. She fumbled around and grabbed Jaxon’s shirt to catch his attention. “Shhh ... we almost there, Mia.” Jaxon tightened his hug, which made her realize the two of them were in the back seat of Jaxon’s private SUV. Jaxon had rushed out of the Sugar Trap without saying goodbye to his friends, and he knew that his six best friends must have witnessed the scene from the bar. And Jaxon could hear their laughter as he was in pain, enduring the bottle hit from Mia repeatedly. While holding back his annoying memory, Jaxon pulled Mia back to his lap. She started struggling and was about to sit on his next. “Mia, calm down!” he hissed with a low voice, but Mia could feel his anger that hardly Jaxon controlled to make her obey him. “Jaxon, I can’t stand anymore,” she whined again a few minutes later. Jaxon took a deep breath. “Fritz, turn around to
