It’s been almost eight days. Mia has been asking about a man named Jaxon Bradwood, but no one knows him. Their reactions were all the same, looking displeased when she asked, and their gestures changed from being friendly and welcoming to being cold and rude.
Now, Mia doubts the words of the middle-aged man.
“Is he playing me?” she snorted irritably.
Mia chose to return to the motel where she was staying.
Every time she passed the lobby, Mia got a look full of investigation from the receptionist. When Mia stares back, the girl at the front desk will pretend to be busy with the computer in front of her. Mia decided to hurry to her room because she was being watched. She is very sick of being suspected and considered a criminal just because she is looking for a foreign man whose existence until now is unknown.
Upon entering the room, Mia got a call from Matt. This is the fourth time her boss has called since Mia left Blueberry. The old man’s cell phone helped her stay in touch with her boss.
“Matt,” she said in a tired tone mixed with frustration.
“You’re not going back to Blueberry?”
Mia walked to the bed, threw the backpack, and sat on the queen-size bed’s edge.
“I told you, Matt, I’ll be right back.”
“Fine, but let me know when you’ve found this man named Jaxon, will you?”
Hearing Matt’s voice full of worry made Mia’s heart warm. Matt has always been a father figure to Mia. He treated Mia like she was his child. She doesn’t know how often Matt gives her a helping hand, so she can’t count his kindness.
“Yes, I’ll call you again, Matt,” Mia said before ending the line.
Mia walked to the window and looked at the scenery outside. From where she stood, Mia was only presented with a view of Denver’s crowded streets. The passing of cars out there gave Mia a headache, and she decided to lie down.
……
Two men behind monitors in the security room watched over a man who had been teasing a woman who was sitting not far from the dance floor. The couple seemed to be talking, but the man was odd.
“Sir,” called one of the security guards over the earpiece in his ear.
“What is wrong?” replied Fritz, who was on guard duty at the door with the words Head Office.
As head of Security at the GC Club, it was Fritz’s job to control all security problems.
“We saw Max on the dance floor.”
“Get the Bouncer immediately and throw him out of here. Find out how he got into the club.”
“Yes, sir.”
Fritz knocked on the Office door before entering the room. He got a questioning look from Jaxon and Gavin, who were sitting playing cards in the room.
“Max is on the dance floor,” said Fritz, making Jaxon’s facial muscles tighten and his face cloudy.
……
At first, Mia thought the Nightclub was an excellent idea to find a foreign man named Jaxon Bradwood. In her mind, a man like Jaxon Bradwood must be visiting nightclubs, at least Mia wanted to try to see him in places like this, but somehow the idea turned unpleasant when a narcissistic man approached her and bragged to her just to take her to bed. Mia was not impressed by how this man exalted himself and flaunted his wealth and abilities in bed.
“You won’t regret it, Babe. I can give you heaven tonight.” The man kept repeating the same sentences until Mia felt bored.
Heaven my ass, she swore.
She wanted to leave the club before she lost her sanity. Even the dizziness she had felt since noon had not subsided and got worse after she tipped a margarita which Mia believed was a small amount.
The babbling of the man in front of her made her mood worse. It felt like Mia wanted to cry with this situation.
“I’m sure you can get another woman Mathew, because, for the twenty-third time, I refused,” Mia said with a fake smile. She was sure it had gone twenty-three times.
“Sweetheart, no one can replace you. Trust me, no man wants to exchange you with any woman. I’ll give you anything. And please call me Max, not Mathew. You are calling my name wrong again. I don’t want you to contact another man’s name while we are together. “
Mia felt nauseous when she heard Max’s voice, which changed to whisper when he said the last sentence.
“Listen, Math—”
“Max.”
Whatever.
“Well, I mean Max. I’m not interested in your offer. Please, leave me alone.” Mia was about to stand up when she felt her surroundings spinning, and her hand quickly grabbed the table.
“Shhh ... I’ll help you, Sweetheart.”
Mia felt Max’s cold hand curl around her arm. She shook off his grip and tried to move away.
“I can do it alone.” Feelings that annoy Mia and make her want to yell at Max to get away. She didn’t like that man’s hand touching her body. Mia believes something is in her drink, and the only culprit she believes is only Max.
As if ignoring Mia’s protest, Max still put his hand on her body.
“Let me help, Sweetheart. You are very drunk. I don’t want you to fall and kiss the floor in front of my eyes. “
Max’s grip turns aggressive when Mia refuses his help. The girl grimaced in pain as Max’s grip tightened on her wrist.
“Don’t touch me!” Mia was sure that she had just screamed, but the sound that came out sounded like a drunken person where her tongue and lips were out of sync, resulting in a strange and unclear sound.
Max’s laughter, mocking her drunken state, made Mia so upset that she waved her hand aimlessly, which only hit the air. Her eyes felt heavy, and her body was starting to go limp. She wasn’t sure she would be conscious for the next few minutes. “I didn’t think you could be even cuter, Sweetheart. Your attitude like this is entertaining. “ Mia’s fist only lightly touched the surface of the man’s chest without hurting the target. She completely lost control of her body. “Hey, Max!” From the corner of Mia’s eye saw two tall men approaching them. Their faces were flat without emotion, but Mia’s feelings said there would be nothing good if they were visited by Bouncer. Not just one, but two at once. Mia was about to scream for help from the men, but Max seemed to know what Mia was thinking. Roughly, Max covered Mia’s mouth, who was about to scream. Max’s loud growl startled Mia until her heart was racing. The two Bouncers were standing so close to them that there was no longer any dist
Jaxon forced his body to leave the woman. He walked over to the cabinet filled with liquor and poured whiskey into his crystal glass. “We’ll see how long this woman gives up looking for me.” “But that’s not how you play, Jaxon.” “How do I play, Gavin?” Jaxon drank his drink, and without realizing it, several times, he pulled the tie, which was starting to choke him. “Every day you follow that girl’s movements, you even look… interested when you hear a beautiful woman with an angelic look looking for you alone on the streets of Denver, and you know it’s dangerous for her. She could be the target of your enemies.” Jaxon turned his back to Gavin. He didn’t want his best friend to see the expression on his face right now. When the girl set foot in Denver, Jaxon had heard of her. He even put in some spies to watch the girl’s movements. Jaxon clearly remembered the first day the girl arrived. At that time, he had just finished a meeting with some of his trusted people when Fritz sudde
An alarm sound woke Mia from sleep. Her gaze was still heavy when she found her cellphone on the table beside her bed. It was too early. Several times she blinked away the fog in her head until the sound of a knock on the door brought her back to her senses. Moaning softly, Mia got up from the bed. She was still clad in her shirt from last night. Her white bag is close to her cellphone. The motel room she rented was in the same condition as the last time she left, but her brow creased when she found the black coat on the other side of the bed. She was about to grab the coat when the sound of knocking on her door was heard a second time. “Room Service!” said whoever was behind the door. Mia forgot the suit and saw who woke her up at this hour. The smell of butter-covered bread teased her as soon as the door was opened. “Looks like you’re in the wrong room,” she said to the maid girl in the maroon and black uniform in front of her. The girl smiled kindly at her. “This is an order
“What is this?!” Jaxon snapped at Gavin, who looked bored looking at the cuticles of his fingers on his left hand. “Oh, I forgot about that,” Gavin replied innocently. Jaxon was about to jump over the table that separated the two, but his body was immediately dragged away by his three friends away from the table. Gavin, who accepted Jaxon’s rage, just shrugged and hid behind Rey’s body. Danny Johanson laughed with amusement when he read the newspaper that was still spread out on the table, even Nicko Anderson, who was holding Jaxon’s body, couldn’t help but laugh, adding to Jaxon’s angry fire. Gideon Rose and Connor Black were forced to drag Jaxon, their best friend, to the corner of the room. Rey glared at Gavin, who only gave an innocent face back. He raised his face, praying that he would disappear from the place. The commotion Gavin was creating made him lose his temper. He even thought of the best way to hide Gavin’s body — the corpse — in one of his old warehouses, or maybe
Silence surrounded the room. Mia stood nervously, and she got observation glances from seven pairs of eyes. She felt like antiques in a museum being observed. None of the handsome men in the room moved and returned the greeting, except for one person, a man with blonde hair and a cute face standing by the sofa. The man smiled at her, but he seemed to withhold in amusement. Mia doesn’t even understand where the funny thing is. “My name is Mia He―” “We heard your name just now. No need to introduce yourself twice.” Mia glared at the man standing in front of her. She ignored the handsome man because of his rude attitude, but a sweet scent of citrus and sandalwood greeted her, reminding her of something. Fully aware, Mia approached the man and pulled hard on his black suit so that his body leaned forward. She ignored his angry gaze or the sharp sound of his breathing. She shamelessly sniffed the scent on the man’s suit. More precisely, she almost kissed the handsome man’s chest. Sure
I can’t believe it. Mia thought when she was locked up in a room, even two armed men were now guarding behind the door. Anger made her unable to sit still. She waited in the room for a long time, but until dinner was delivered, the man she was waiting for did not come either. “I don’t need these foods. Bring it all back, and let me out!” she exclaimed irritably at the young man delivering a trolley full of food. The young man looked calm, as if no one was talking in the room. Feeling neglected, Mia started screaming and didn’t touch the food served. “At least tell me where Jaxon Bradwood is. I don’t want to be in this place, and I need to talk to him!” Mia held the young man’s arm as he was about to sneak out this time. The young man released Mia’s grip, leaving her locked. At least an hour later, the man she was waiting for came over to her. Mia waited in anticipation when she heard the sound of a lock, and his figure filled the door. At first, they just stared at each other
Four days. Mia mumbles while pacing in her locked room. She did not think Jaxon had kept her prisoner for four days in the castle. She had never seen Jaxon since four days ago. It felt like she wanted to scream in frustration. “Hey! I know someone is behind this door. Don’t pretend you didn’t hear me! I need the sun and fresh air!” She pounded on the door in front of her many times, but there was no response. She hated the feeling of helplessness. Several times Mia banged on the door again until finally, she felt tired, then left the door and lay on the bed. That was her position when Jaxon entered the room a few hours later. “Four days, Mr. Bradwood. You kept me prisoner for four days! “Mia slowly got up and sat opposite Jaxon, standing on the other side. “I’m not holding you, Miss Heart. This is just a special treatment that I rarely give my guests.” Mia was about to say something, but Jaxon gave a silent gesture with one hand raised. “Before you say something that will only ge
Two men lay helplessly inside the dungeon of the Red Cage Building. Bloodstained both of the man’s clothes. Their gaze was half focused on a figure standing in the center of the room. A tall body rose with clenched fists drenched in fresh blood that dripped onto the ends of his shiny leather shoes. “That’s enough, Jax,” said Rey, who had been watching Jaxon beat up the two men to death. Jaxon didn’t listen to Rey’s words. His hands quickly grabbed the forearm from behind his back. Jaxon seemed to shut down his conscious senses to his surroundings, drowning in the murderous desire that enveloped his body. “Jax!” Rey rushed towards Jaxon and pulled out his elbow, aimed at the two men. “They’re already helpless, brother,” he whispered as he tapped Jaxon’s shoulder, bringing him to his senses. Jaxon’s mood has been bad lately. He didn’t want Jaxon to return to being the monster that ruled him. “You know how I work, Rey. These two men clearly challenge me. “ Yesterday they found more
