Chapter 6 Finally Free

They walk toward the officials when it’s their turn, they hand them the certificate and she takes it while smiling, she fills in her name hurriedly and tosses it to him when she is done. He takes the pen and puts it on the paper in the way of writing, she looks at the paper closely. And when she realizes that he isn’t writing, she looks up at him and sees him staring at her with a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. She nods at him assuring him with a smile on her face.

Edward bites his lip and continues writing, when he is done, he gives it to the official and she stamps on it. They are given copies each and she laughs out,

“I am finally free!!!”

She looks at him and sees him with a confused expression but she just shrugs and is about to walk away but he stops her by holding her hand. She looks at her held hand and looks up at him with a glare. He releases his hand immediately and he says to her in a rude tone,

“Did you forget about the press conference? You promised to confess and apologize to Cece after I have given you divorce, isn’t it?”

Alexia cleans where he touched her hand and says to him,

“That I promised and so I am going to abide by it, unlike others who make empty promises.”

She runs out of the room and sees the men still waiting for her. The smile on her face grows wider and she starts walking toward them, when she arrives at their side she says to them,

“Let’s get out of here.”

But the man shakes his head and says to her,

“Let’s wait for your ex-husband, your brother has something to give to him.”

She looks at him and questions in confusion,

“What could he possibly give him, he doesn’t deserve praise and it is only a waste of time to hoot at him.”

Just as they are speaking, he walks them by but he hears the man in the shades shout,

“Mr. Edward, we were waiting for you. Do you mind if I saw you for a moment?”

He looks back at them and sneers,

“Does he want to tease me of stealing my wife? No matter what, I will find you and you will regret the day you were born.”

They shake their heads and the man in sunglasses moves to approach him but he hurries from there and goes to his car. In a few seconds, he has driven away as if he is chased by a mob of bees. Everyone could see that he is very angry but no one knows the reason behind his hunger, Alexia looks on as the car drives away and she thinks,

“Should I take this as he is angry because I divorced him? He even hesitated while signing the papers, and he has never looked me in the eyes since our marriage. But today, he was busily staring at me, well, what that was, it’s all over and I don’t need to know anymore.”

The man in the sunglasses taps her shoulder slightly and she looks in his way confused but then he explains that he has been speaking to her to get into the car. She nods her head and just as she is about to enter, she inquires,

“May I know your names?”

They nod their heads and the one in the glasses speaks,

“My name is Eric Rivas and he is Enoch Rivas, we are the guards of your brother at home and wherever he goes to.”

She looks on confused and Eric hurriedly adds on,

“Miss, don’t be confused as your brother gave us his name. We were just nobody’s before we met him and so he has given every worker of his name. Every worker under him comes from one orphanage or the other.”

A huge smile appears on her face and she laughs out,

“What are you waiting for? Let’s get going, I need to see my brother now.”

While in the car, he keeps beating his steel wheel, the horn of the car is head miles away and the cars ahead of him make way for him. His jaw is clenched and the veins on his hand pop out of his skin because of the way he has held the wheel. His eyes depict anger and he keeps breathing in and out harshly. A few minutes later after beating several red lights, his car arrives at a cemetery and he stops abruptly, this leaves dust hovering around the car. Edward puts his head on the wheel for a while before he raises his head and looks in the way of the cemetery and he sneers and say’s,

“So, are you satisfied with the results? She’s gone now and my heart is in pain and I don’t know the reason for it. She’s a wicked woman, right? She plotted Cecelia’s rape and so I should hate her more right? Jacob, I need answers, something isn’t right and I feel it deep down. I might have made the wrong choice but if ….”

He nods and drives away from the cemetery.

They drive through the city past several huge buildings and businesses and they diverge to another part of the city. She opens her mouth and asks,

“Are you taking me to the wrong place? Have you lost your way? Look, the land ahead is owned by multimillionaires in this country. We can’t go there otherwise we will be caught on the way.”

Eric smiles at her and shakes his head before answering her that they would see if they get there. They arrive at the gate and it opens on its own, she looks at Eric who is beside her with her eyes wide open and mouth gaped. Eric sees her expression and a smile appears on his face, Enoch sees this and he also smiles and he says,

“No one smiles in front of sir Eric as he never smiles but you made him smile as soon as you met him. Miss, you seem to have magical powers.”

Eric glares at him and he shuts up immediately, Alexia smiles widely and say’s to herself,

“Alexia, it seems you are in for a good show that will make your heart shake with excitement.”
