Hurriedly, I fixed myself up and burst out of the restroom, in a sprint.
Momentarily, I wondered where Sophia was. She was probably high on something and on top of a random man's cock, riding away into ecstasy.
I have to catch the bastard.
He led me outside, past the bouncers that stood guard at the doors while I followed, jogging in between my walk.
The wreakin' was an enormous place covering a large area of land. It could contain hundreds of people, most of which were willing women.
And this crude idiot thought he could come sneak long looks at me in the bathroom and go free? Jokes. I'm going to hand him over to the police.
I walk along the lobby of the club, yelling at his form that was now running ahead of me. He seems to recognize that I didn't give up and was still after him.
"Come back here you pervert! Come see more. Let me your eyes with more." I yelled. Yes, more slaps and blows to his head.
"Come back here, you pervert!"
"Get him. He's a pervert!" I kept yelling, while a few people outside looked in my direction briefly and then back to their concerns. Nobody seemed to mind me. They probably thought to not give mind to someone who was yelling like a demented woman at the club.
My legs burned and I was sure I would have blisters by the time I got home and sobriety came. I took off the shoes and attempted to walk again.
I landed on the floor.
My eyes. They looked at the marbled floor funny. The ground was dancing to me. It was probably the change in height that was causing the misunderstanding in my brain. Walking on a new height barefooted, different from the level I was on while I wore high heels seemed a little too tasky for my brain.
My stomach rumbled again and I lurched forward with force, trying to empty my bowels. Nothing came forth.
"God!" I screamed when I was finally able to stand up. The bastard was gone. I turned to return the way I come. Only a few meters had I walked when I saw the familiar bounce of the chain on his trousers, even before I saw his red jacket.
He must have thought to run me to a dead end, evade me, and go back the way he came.
"Hey, you!" I yelled again. "Wait up. You pervert."
An idea hit me. What was I doing all these while not being smart? I took a short look at the shoes in my hands, took one, and threw it with all the energy I have left in my arm, at him.
It hit him square in the head.
From ahead, I heard his groan as he clasped his hand on the head. He brought it down and looked at it, then looked back at me, hissing.
I think I saw blood.
Good for me because a lot more people were there. However, just as I made the turn at the corner. I was seized and slammed against the hard brick of the wall.
I gasp for air as he choked me with an arm, holding me to the wall.
"You perv!" I croaked out.
His face which was now in full view to me moved in a smirk. A smirk!
"Whatchu gonna do now, fighter?" He said, a wicked smile dancing on his lips. "You're all mine now."
He began to run his filthy hand over my thighs. It was as though bugs were crawling over me. For the first time that night, I regretted wearing a short dress.
His touch was scaly and rough like I had an amphibian slithering on my body. This will spoil the memory of Mr. Hat touching me ever so sweetly.
"You will pay for this," I say, out of breath. I was getting the feeling that I will throw up. This feeling was intensified when the pervert said, "Well, shouldn't I finish what I started if I am going to pay in the end? Huh, what do you think?" His brown eyes were filled with mischief, as he brought his face closer to mine.
I shut my eyes tight and suck my lips inside.
No, not the lips. Do not kiss me, do not kiss me, I thought.
Then I used the shoe left in my hand on his head. He groaned in pain but he did not let me go. Instead, he slammed my head against the wall.
"Bitch!" He screamed. "You fucking bitch! Who do you think you are? You're just another god-damned whore on the streets so what crime is it that I took a short look at you? Huh?!"
He took his hand to his head and brought it back covered with blood.
"Shit!" He yelled again. Then in between his heavy breathing, he said, "You have to pay for this little bitch, don't you think?"
"You will pay for this," I said.
"Well, you will be paying first. And I have just the idea how." He replied, his mouth forming a sinister smirk.
I struggled to be let free but his hold was too forceful for me to break. I was surprised and at the same time, terrified.
He held me by my hair and begin to drag me to a dark corner while I struggled and yelled.
Then from nowhere, a huge kick came from his side. It was so impactful that I fell alongside him as he let out a groan and fell to his back.
I scrambled, making myself into a fetal position, scared as fuck.
But I realized that I was free and I looked to see who had come to my rescue.
He wore a facemask. At first, I thought it was Mr. Hat, but the brown eyes of this stranger carried nothing but peril. They looked to lead whoever stared too long at them into abysmal nothing.
We stared at each other for some more seconds before he turned to the guy on the floor, who was trying to get up and run.
"Fuck!" He said. "Who the fuck are you?" He yelled, trying to get on his feet.
My rescuer tackled him and he fell to the ground before he responded to his question with a punch to his face. I whimpered from where I was because it was a solid punch.
Two or more punches on the guy's face and he began to bleed from his nose.
Then the strange man let him go while that one tried to scamper away. He couldn't. He remained on the floor groaning.
Soon, people were beginning to gather.
I struggled to take in the fresh air and somehow, the mix got wrong. I crawled to the side and emptied the contents of my bowels before turning and sinking to a seat on the floor.
I was conscious but it seemed I was hearing voices from far away. Just when I thought I would pass out, I looked up to see this strange man covering me with his jacket, his eyes never leaving me for a second.
Just then, security came running. I told them what happened upon inquiry and the groaning pervert on the floor was proof enough. They lifted the pervert guy from the ground and he felt his nose and looked at the blood that stained it.
"Fuck you, bitch!" He screamed and launched towards me. Two of the security officers held him on either of his sides, stopping him from coming at me.
Just then, from the pool of people who once again, were in twos and threes before my eyes, Sophia emerged.
"Holy hell Debby!" She shrieked. "Are you okay?"
I looked up at her and then at the man on the ground. "Pervert," I say.
She turns to him and boots him hard on the leg. He yelps in pain. The security men began to whisk him away while he kept shouting that I would pay.
"Are you okay?" She asks again when she came back to me. I nodded. "I'm so sorry darling. Let's get you home."
My drowsy eyes move around, searching for my helper. He was here just a moment ago.
He was not here.
Frantically, I tried to search for him, with my eyes, amongst the humans that gathered. But he was gone. Vanished.
Sophia helped me stand on my feet.
"Are you sure you're okay? Oh my goodness. You should not have followed him."
"He went away... the guy ...he went away."
"What guy?" She asked.
"The guy who kicked him away."
"There was no guy Debby. Pull yourself together and let's go home." She replied, dismissively.
I let go of her and turned to the side to empty my bowels one more time. Sophia was right behind me, holding my hair away from my face and vomit.
When I tried to rise, I fell back heavily on her.
Just then, everything went pitch black.
I tethered in the barrier between wakefulness and slumber. It was plain black and then suddenly, the image appeared. Colors of blood and tears, with the smell of antiseptics, filled my vision and olfactory. I saw her, sitting in that white chiffon dress and bawling out her eyes, wailing uncontrollably. Then it came, in one swift movement, and went through her form, leaving splashes of blood and a loud harrowing scream.I woke up with a start, panting heavily.A slight wave of pain hit me as I opened my eyes. This was coupled with the stream of light that came from the window my face was directly facing. I turned away while covering my face with my hand. My breathing slowed down as I took in my surroundings. This is Sophia's room. The largeness, alongside its rich aura of it, gave it away. But the owner was not here. So, I began scrambling for my phone that I saw in the bedside drawer. Just when I reached it, the door flung open and she appeared. She was holding in her hands a smal
"The police station?" I asked, eyes wide open. "What for?""We have a couple of questions for you miss." The man stated."Why can't you ask me them now? Is this regarding what happened yesterday night at the club? I already told security what happened. You could even take a look at the cameras.""About that, you will have to give an official statement at the station. But that's not why we're here.""Why then are you here?" I asked again, my eyes darting around. There were two of the officers, apart from the one talking to me. Even without uniforms, they still looked very much like uniform men, scary and full of command."Exactly my point Debby. I do not know what you were up to yesterday but I was surprised to see the police pull up here looking for you. Did you get into something bad?" The hospital director asked before I had the chance to say anything. "This has never happened.""I was at the club," I answered. I heard him gasp. As well as Beverly and Tristan, who were the receptio
Fear enveloped me. My bag was taken from me before I was brought here.I suppose there were rummaging through my things now and most probably, going through my contacts and everything they could lay their hands on.That was not much of a worry, I know they would not find anything. The bigger problem was what I was to tell officer Steve when he came back. Was I to tell him that I was trying to get fucked by a strange man and I did not know that this said man was the thief he is looking for?How was I to utter such gibberish? Most importantly, would he even believe me?When the officer that warned me earlier came to get my statement, I asked him if I could make a call. He said yes and so, when officer Steve came in a while later, he brought my phone.I grabbed it immediately and put a call through to Sophia. She told me we would be here in a few minutes but I am yet to see her.Officer Steve sat before me and peered into my eyes, like a predator that was sure he had his meal right befo
There was something eerie about my place as I approached it. The entrance door was ajar.I walked closer and stepped foot into the rooftop apartment. Since we didn't have a living room, I walked through the lobby between my room and Jake's and I was in my room instantly.I knew it when I saw it.I had been mugged. It was obvious from all indications. The littered papers all over, the upturned shelf of books, and opened drawers told of a person's frantic search.I quickly threw my bag on the floor and ran into Jake's room. It was the same. No difference at all.Whoever came in here must have been looking for something. This surprised me because what could anyone be looking for in a house like mine? I did not own a lot of valuables but I began checking for stuff that could have been taken away.I could not find anything missing so I returned to my bag and fished out officer Steve's card. He did say I should call whenever something suspicious happened and this, this was hella suspicious
Slowly, I turned around and met his gaze. He stood still, in the blackness of his clothing and peered into my eyes.Holy fuck!I recognize those eyes. Those empty eyes sucked a looker in. My face cream fell from my hands and I jerked. "What do you want?" I said, stepping away from his front. He doesn't say a thing. The mask over his face does not let me see any expression on his face. "You got your jacket, so why are you back here?" He took a step toward me and instinctively, I made a dive for my phone that was on the bed. I began to frantically punch on the screen, looking to call officer Steve. "How did you find my house?" I asked again. Maybe I should have called Sophia and slept at her place. He kept walking toward me and my hands trembled as I continued to back away. "Stay away!" I yelled. Then I hit the wall next to the dressing mirror and stopped moving. He was before me in a blink of an eye. My mind was threatening to burst with fear and so, I let out a scream. He stampe
It took me a minute to gather my thoughts together. What have I just done? I slapped my hands over my face and blew air threw my mouth.Yep, it's official. I am crazy. I let a man I barely know make out with me. And I enjoyed every bit of it.But that's not even the problem. I knew now that the guy was a thief and yet, my body relaxed in his hold. Maybe I developed a mental condition after that night at the club.Pulling my robe closer to my body and tying it tightly to hide the imprints of Leo's hands on it, I hurried to the door. Just when I was holding the knob to open it, it creaked open with force.Jake's face appeared like he was taking a peek. Then he opened it wider."What were you doing? You were taking all day." He said, stepping into the room.Retracting, I gave him room to walk. "I said I was coming. Why are you so much in a hurry?" "As I said, you were taking all day and I was going to die of anxiety. And look," he pointed at me. "You're still in that fucking old robe af
The POV of Leo:It was not easy to let her go. That day and even today. When I watched her, her life was a simple routine. I mapped out her schedule and stuck it to my brain cells. She would go from hospital to home and home to hospital. Very few times did that change and it was when she stopped by a grocery store or went to see that crazy friend of hers, Sophia. So it came as a surprise to me when that evening, after being at Sophia's, instead of heading home, I saw her climb into her friend's car, all of her back exposed by the skimpy dress she had on. It was a very startling sight for me as I have only ever seen her, unlike Sophia, in hospital scrubs, wide tees, round glasses, and pants. Never have I seen her in a dress and that too, the type she had on. And the shoes. I was greatly amused when she struggled to walk in them. Curious as to where they were headed, I followed their car and it took me right to THE WREAKIN'. I suspected it, halfway to the place. It was th
"Hallow-hospital?" I manage to croak out after I stared at the man for a full minute. He must be cracking a late evening joke and if that was it, then he was not being funny at all. "I never asked for a transfer.""I know." He said, reclining on his chair. "Look, Debby, you're one hell of a doctor. I think here is far too small for your potential.""Let me be the judge of that sir," I answer, forcefully. "Let me decide whether or not I want to leave here."There was no way in God's name I was leaving this part of town to work in a hospital like that. Hallow-hospital? The name alone brought me memories. Memories I'd rather keep at the back of my psyche. If I brought them to the fore, I'd be broken, all over again.Mr. Grey looks at me, his fingers in a cross in front of his face. He is not saying anything."Mr. Grey, I do not want to leave the community hospital. I like my job here. It's close to my house and I can save a lot. Plus, I am already so used to everyone here. It'll be hard
