I Know Everything

Liz had been silent since the incident, in shock and staring at her new dress, which was beyond repair.

“I think you need some water. Shall I escort you?” Ed offered kindly, extending a scarf that was also stained. His demeanor was perfect. The other guests merely looked on without judgment.

“No need!” Liz snapped, grabbing the scarf harshly and turning away. She couldn’t risk causing a scene at her father's party. Liz cared enough about her father's power and benefits to show up and support his campaign.

Ed smiled and temporarily moved to a less-crowded corner. He was free, but many eyes were still on him. Ed waited until the situation calmed and the other guests found something more intriguing to talk about than spilled drinks.

Ed used that time to scout his target. He had seen a few already, but Ed wanted to start with the easiest one.

Ed murmured softly, "There," and he leisurely moved through the crowd.

No one greeted him, and Ed nearly burst into laughter as he suddenly remember
