"Why Olivia and not Camila?" he asked and Mr Carter looked at him not sure if now is the time to tell him or if he needed to wait a while.
He looked at the two ladies chatting in the garden and moved Mr Garcia further away to a place he considered safe. He got closer and spoke in a very low tone, so only Mr Garcia would hear what he had to say
"Ths is the reason why I want Olivia and not Camila," he began and Mr Garcia listened attentively
Back in the garden, the two ladies were getting along so well since they have so much in common.
"I didn't know you liked those," Mrs Carter commented
"It is relaxing you should try it sometime," Mrs Garcia said
"I am glad we met, I enjoy your company very much. Now I can boast of two best friends," she said
"Oh, that is great. Perfect number, we can have a lady's day out," came Patricia's voice from behind them.
"Hello Patricia," Mrs Carter welcomed and Mrs Garcia looked on
"I am parched, I need a glass of drink," Patricia said and sat down next to Mrs Carter.
Mrs Carter called for another bottle of drink and glass which was brought in by a servant in uniform.
"Patricia, meet Mrs Garcia, my husband's best friend's wife," Mrs Carter introduced
"Nice to meet you," Patricia greeted with a handshake and filled her glass with a drink
"I hope I am not interrupting anything?" Patricia said making Mrs Carter laugh
The three ladies quickly bonded on the based that, they have so much in common. The men joined them later.
"I can see you made a new friend," Mr Carter commented making Mrs Carter smile.
They spend the rest of the day doing other things. Mr and Mrs Garcia left for their home when it was 5 pm.
"I saw you discussing something with Mr Carter, what was it about?" Mrs Garcia asked undressing the bed
"It was business," Mr Garcia replied wondering how to break the news about Mr Carter's choice of a bride for his son to his wife.
How can he tell his wife, Mr Carter chose Olivia as a bride for his son? He picked the pillow from the bed and helped her undress the bed
"Why are you lying?" she questioned pausing what she was doing and starring at him
"What makes you think, I am lying?" he asked averting her gaze.
"You do forget, I am your wife and we have been married for twenty-five years," she pointed out
"Okay," he replied and sat on the bed making Mrs Garcia also sit on the bed
"Okay, Mr Carter has chosen a bride for his son from our family," he said and Mrs Garcia smiled
"O mine, that is amazing," she said excitedly without waiting for him to complete his statement by already concluding it was Camila.
And that was also because she didn't know Mr Carter knew Olivia.
"So when is the engagement party," she asked excitedly
"He would let me know by close of day tomorrow," he replied not sure if he should let her know it is Olivia they are talking about and not her daughter Camila.
"This is going to be the best year of our life. Gosh, I have a wedding to plan," she said excitedly and lay on the bed and Mr Garcia also lay down in silence allowing her to have her moment for now.
It was 7 am, Monday morning, Mr Garcia got ready for work and Jonathan came downstairs already dressed.
"Are you ready son?" he asked
"Yes, Dad," he replied wearing a black suit
"Where is your sister, it is 7 am, breakfast time," he asked
"She was on her phone by the time I went to sleep at midnight. I am very sure she didn't sleep early," Jonathan replied
"FBI, I didn't know you had my room bugged. Did you install CCT too?" Camila said descending the stairs
"Good morning," Olivia greeted
Jonathan and Mr Garcia responded to her greetings but Camila did not. Mrs Garcia joined them in the living room in high spirits. Mr Garcia proceeded to the dining area and the rest followed after greeting Mrs Garcia.
"Mum, you seem very happy this morning, what is the good news?" Camila asked noticing the exciting aura surrounding Mrs Garcia
"I am very excited. Let's all sit down I and I will tell you," she said and they all sat down behind the table.
Olivia remained in the kitchen cleaning up the place as her food gets cold.
"Okay, Camila, you are always on social media, I believe you know Mr Carter?" she began
"Sweetheart, it is too early," Mr Garcia cautioned
"Whether I say it now or tomorrow, it doesn't change the news," she said and turned to her daughter
Jonathan dishes some vegetables and scrambled eggs into his plate and grabbed a toasted bread. Mr Garcia poured himself some tea.
"You know his son right?" she asked making Camila interested in what she was about to say
"Yes, Ethan Carter," she replied
"I have seen a picture or two of him. He looks like someone who doesn't like the media attention that much. There is less of him on social media. Anyway, what about him?" she added with a smile
"Well," Mrs Garcia acknowledged excitedly
"My love, now would not be a good idea," Mr Garcia pointed out
"Now is fine," she said and turned her gaze to Camila
"You are the Carter's chosen bride," she said in one breath and Camila's eyes widened
"Me? They chose me?" Camila asked with excitement
"Oh, so the rumours are true. I can't believe he chose me," Camila said excitedly and Mr Garcia lowered his head.
"Wow, congratulations, sis. You make a fine bride," Jonathan said happy for his sister
Mr Garcia felt sad knowing how events will turn out when they finally realize Camila is not the chosen bride but none of them noticed as they were excited about the news they have just heard.
Mr Garcia and Jonathan left for work after breakfast and Mrs Garcia took Camila to the spa.
"My dear, you need to look your best. Your father will be confirming the date and place of the engagement," she said and Camila excitedly acknowledged.
They went for a body massage, did waxing and also used the sauna. While Mrs Garcia and her daughter were having a good time, there was a heated argument in the house of Mr Carter.
"Why would you choose a servant girl as a bride for your son?" Mrs Carter asked
"What makes you think she is a servant girl?" Mr Carter asked getting ready to go visit one of his company's branches
"Because that is what she is," she replied crossing her hand over her chest
"Okay, fine. She is a servant girl, does that matter?" he said looking at her sternly and Mrs Carter went silent
"Shall I remind you where I pick you up from?" he asked looking at her
"Good. The engagement party is at the Garcia's at 6 pm today. Make sure it is perfect," he said and exited the bedroom
"Why would he choose a servant girl for my handsome son? Going to the slum to choose a family was already bad. Why would he prefer their filth to their treasure?" she asked herself looking in the direction he had exited the bedroom.
She picked up her phone and called Patricia
"Hello Patricia, you are not going to believe what my husband did?' she began
"What did he do this time?" Patricia asked
"Can you believe he chose a servant girl of the Garcias as a bride for my son?" she said
"No way. Why?" she asked
"I don't know. When I raised my concern, he wants to talk about where he had picked me," she said
"Why would he bring that up? This is your son, we are talking about," Patricia replied
"Exactly my point. Now he is asking me to organize the engagement party," she added infuriated
"So are you going to do it?" asked Patricia
"Do what?" she asked
"Organized the engagement party?" asked Patricia
"I don't know but it doesn't look like I have a choice. You are my friend, help me out," She requested
"Are you home?" Patricia asked
"Yes, I am," she replied
"Good, your son is coming to New York today right?" she asked
"Yes," she replied wondering where she was going with that
"Good, I have an idea," Patricia added
"Great, come over let's put something together for tonight," Mrs Garcia said
At the real Easte, Mr Garcia's company, he received a call from Mr Garcia confirming the time and location for the engagement and informed him, his wife would be helping with the planning.
Mr Garcia acknowledged being unable to tell Mr Carter about the confusion at home. He left the company early asking Jonathan to take care of things as there was something he needed to take care of us.
Meanwhile, Mrs Garcia was heading back home with Camila when Mrs Carter called
"Hello," she replied excitedly
"I just want to ask you something, woman to woman," Mrs Carter said after acknowledging Mrs Garcia's greetings
"Are you aware your servant girl is the chosen bride for my son?" she asked
"What!" Mrs Garcia exclaimed making Camila jump out of her seat due to her mother's sudden reaction on the call.
"Mum, what happened?" she asked looking at the shock registered on her mother's face
"What are you saying?" Mrs Garcia asked trying to understand if she did hear that or if she imagined it just now
"I am saying, your servant girl is the chosen bride for my son," she repeated
"No! No! That can't be," she said still holding the phone to her ears.
"I am saying, your servant girl is the chosen bride for my son," she repeated "No! No! That can't be," she said still holding the phone to her ears. "Your husband didn't tell you?" she asked "No, he .." she began and recalled her conversation with her husband. She remembered her husband had only told her the Carters had chosen a bride from their family but never mentioned who. It was now clear to her why her husband was against her announcing it at the table. "You bastard," she thought realizing her husband didn't tell her who the bride is, she assumed it was Camila. "Wait, let me call my husband," she said and ended the call and dialled her husband's number and brought the phone to her ears. It rang thrice but he didn't answer. She called Jonathan and he informed her, Mr Garcia had left the company to take care of some business outside. She ended the call and tried calling her husband again but again, there was no answer."Mum, what is going on?" Camila asked seeing her sudden
"Olivia is a servant girl and it makes sense she couldn't handle the news. See, Camila is off the same age as Olivia and if anything, Camila is very intelligent," she said hoping it would convince him to accept Camila "Are you done?" he asked to her surprise and Mrs Garcia didn't know what to say in front of the all-powerful Mr Carter. "As I said, find Olivia," he said making Mrs Carter also frowned"She is the one I want for my son," he added and turned to look at his wife.Mrs Carter understood he wanted them to leave. He got up and she also stood to her feet. He headed for the door and she followed him. The guards quickly opened the door seeing him approached and they followed him out. Mr Garcia was standing there, watching them leave with his wife pacing up and down and raising her hands repeatedly but no words followed her frustrated appearance. Mr Garcia felt worried about what has just happened. He had thought earlier, he could expand his business with his help but it looks
"After the wedding, you can now take over seventy per cent of the business," Mr Carter said both unaware Mrs Carter was eavesdropping. Mrs Carter left immediately realizing they are almost done with their conversation and texted Mrs Garcia [They are planning the wedding]She typed and sent it to her. Mrs Garcia woke up by the sound of her phone notification. She picked it up and unlocked the screen seeing she had received a message from Mr Carter. She opened the note and read it her eyes widened and the sleep vanished from her face."No, this can't be happening," she said not sure what to do to change anything now that Olivia was in Carter's apartment. [We need to do something. I know you don't want your son marrying a dumb servant girl. Let's meet and plan something]She typed and sent it to Mrs Carter and got out of bed quickly. She went to the washroom and came downstairs for breakfast but quickly remember upon reaching the living room, Olivia was no longer living with them. "N
She saw Ethan and Olivia walking out of the court walking hand in hand and Mrs Carter by their side. Mrs Carter was behind them[It is done, what prevented you from coming] She typed and sent[The stupid police wasted all my time] Mrs Garcia replied [But don't worry, I did something. Her troubles start today]Mrs Gracia typed and sent Mrs Carter read it and smiled, looking at Olivia looking all beautiful and smiling as she walked hand-in-hand with Ethan towards their parked car. "When are you leaving for your honeymoon?" Mr Carter asked standing by his car"Tomorrow, morning. I need to confirm our reservations first. Which I intend to do today," replied Ethan as he opened the door for Olivia"That is perfect," Mr Carter replied but before he could sit in his car, his phone rang and he retrieved it from his pocket. It was a call from the company. He answered the call immediately"Speak?" he said holding the phone to his ears as he got into the car"Sir, we are not sure what happene
"Perfect, we will end this marriage soon," Mrs Garcia said with a smile as they drove towards Carter's mansion. They continued their chat and laughed alongside as they head back to the mansion. They soon arrived and Mrs Garcia drove into the compound, parking in the garage"Would you like to come inside for a cup of tea?" Mrs Carter invited"Sure," replied Mrs Garcia as she got out of the car and followed Mrs Carter into the house. At the Garcia family, Camila was sharing her grievance with her best friend Isabella. Ethan was the man of her dream. If anything he is every woman's dream. Just when she thought luck was shining on her, their house servant gets Ethan"Why would he choose her over me?" Camila whine"Rich people mostly want women they can control. I am sure that is why Ethan chose her and it has nothing to do with love," Isabella consoled "Do you think if I can make him fall in love with me, he would reconsider his decision?" Camila asked with hopeful eyes"It is possible
She went downstairs with the housekeeper and found Camila in the living room "Hello Olivia," she said and Olivia stared at her not sure how to respond Back at the Garcia's, Camila was the one who ignores her greetings and only talks to her when she needs something. It was very surprising for Olivia to hear Camila came to see her. "Maybe she is here for Ethan," she thought descending the stairs like she was counting them"We are on the same level now, so you can address me as a sister," Camila said seeing the shock in Olivia's eyes.Camila could understand Olivia's reaction. She never spoke with her and why should she? She was the daughter of a rich person she was a common servant but now she has a job to do and it will mean being friends with Olivia.Camila took a couple of steps towards the living room area while Olivia stopped at the end of the staircase waiting to know why Camila was there."Can I sit?" she enquired again surprising Olivia"Yes, please," Olivia replied and hurri
"What is it with women and shopping and making wild expenses? I thought Olivia was different. Was that a pretence?" he thought looking at the receipt of the expenses made with his card. Back at Garcia's apartment, Camila drove into the garage and parked her car. She got out of the car with a smile of victory plastered on her face. She walked towards the apartment. She entered the living room and run into her mother. Mr Garcia and Jonathan had left the house for work so it was just Mrs Garcia at home. "Where have you been since morning?" she asked seeing Camila walk in but the joy on her face made her smile wondering the reason behind it. "I am coming from Ethan's apartment. Oh my God, this Olivia girl is the world's dumbest person I have ever met,," she said dropping herself on the sofa "Asira," she called out to their new servant "Yes ma'am," she hurried into the living room "I have some bags in my car, thank them to my room," she instructed and Asira left the living room to d
"We are going to work together to get the trash out of my son's house. This is why I am here," Mrs Carter said and they all nodded in agreement "Great, looks like we are all aligned on this one," Mrs Garcia acknowledged "I have one problem,' Mrs Carter began "Is this place a safe place to talk?" she asked "Yes, it is. That stupid girl knows better not to eavesdrop," Camila said "Great, I have one problem and that is my heart. The trash has won my heart and listens to nothing as an objection," Mrs Carter said and both Camila and Mrs Garcia were confused "Ah, I get you now," Mrs Garcia said when she completed her statement "Get the Cardiologists to turn it into a vegetable," Mrs Garcia suggested and Camila was still confused about what the two ladies were talking about. "I'm mostly scared of surgeries and so I never request for them," Mrs Carter said "Don't worry, leave that to me. There is a reason I am still the queen of my empire, I can help you with that," Mrs Garcia
