26. Embarrassment

The tension in the room grew as they both stared at me. How was I going to pick between them? I did not want to hurt any of their feelings.

“You can put your number in my phone.” I hoped that it would be settled.

“Even if you picked Preston, I was still going to put it anyway,” Kayden replied, tapping his numbers on the phone. “I just wanted to hurt his ego if you had picked me”

I sighed, it was easy to get out of this situation, feeling the atmosphere in the room had gotten better, I went ahead to eat, I was really starving.

“Try the roasted lamb, I really put a lot of effort into it,” Kayden said, shoving a chunk into my already filled mouth.

“Kayden” I shouted at him, but it came out as a muffle, since my mouth was filled.

He smiled and patted my head while I glared at him.

“Let's go out today after your lunch”

“No” I turned to Preston who had replied on my behalf.

“No?” Kayden repeated Preston’s reply, “Amber does not need your permission”
