John picked me up as he promised. He called me the moment he got to my office, claiming he was too tired to walk up the short flight of stairs that led to my office. This wasn't the first time though. My so-called best friend was the laziest man I ever met.

“You arrived faster than I expected,” I said as I got into the car, smiling at him. “So, where are you taking me to?” I lifted an eyebrow.

“You will see that. It took me some time to plan this.” He started the car and drove away from my car park. "I did my research well, knowing how picky you are."

The moment we were out on the road, I spotted the familiar red car tailing us. John must have noticed them since he kept staring at the side mirror. “Do you know them?” He asked after a short while, still looking at the men in the mirror.

“Yeah.”

"Are they your workers? Or admirers?" He wriggled his brows.

Sighing, I leaned on the car seat. “You can say they are my bodyguards. My boyfriend… S thought someone might mug me on my way

Though he didn't seem convinced by words, he didn't ask questions regarding them. Instead, he smiled and walked in. I looked back at the red car before I rushed in with him, smiling at the server by the door.Lunch was uneventful. We ordered and ate, while discussing our lives back in our college days, when we did everything together like the twins most people assumed we were. I felt emotional as I thought back to those days, and he felt I was acting like a baby. To him, the emotion was a bit on the top side. I didn't blame him though. This was how he always acted. “Let's do this again,” he said, taking my hand in his as he led me out of the place. “I know you are busy, and so am I, but we can always make time for each other, just like in our college days.”“Yeah. I think so, too. You can always visit me at work. Just tell anyone you meet you are here for me, and they will bring you to my office, okay? It's as simple as that.”“Because you are the boss?” He lifted an eyebrow, smilin

MITCH“Am I the only one still thinking about Summer's scent yesterday?” I lifted an eyebrow at my brothers, who were working hard on the desktops.“I'm still pondering about that,” Miles looked up, his reply instantaneous. “I said nothing at first because I thought you guys would think I'm crazy for talking about it.” “Same.” Mike glanced up from his system. “I'm still disturbed. Somehow, the scent is familiar. Like we have met someone with such an odd smell. It's strange, though. That's not the human odour we are used to.”“What if he's not a human?” I blurted out, looking up at them. “Have you thought about that?” “Yep.” Miles nodded, while Mike looked like it was the first time something like that had passed through his mind. “That was my thought when I perceived it.” I sat up, still looking at them. “What do you say we do?” “What else? We will just watch things out. Since our baby girl said she knows who he is, and went to college together, I doubt there's anything wrong

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   Odd mates

SUMMERMy mates were true to their promises. They didn't ask more about John, though I expected to hear them inquire about it. It felt odd that they acted like whatever I did wasn't their concern. I tried to ask them about it but thought more about the question. It would seem like I got a friend just so I could see them get angry and possessive of me, which wasn't my plan at all. The only thing they asked when I returned after the lunch meeting I had with John was why I smelled odd. They were still hell-bent on their beliefs that there was something wrong with John's smell. I told them it must be his perfume, and they demanded to know if I hugged him. When I replied in the negative, they pointed out that his scent wasn't about his perfume, but his natural smell, telling me there was something wrong with my friend. But that was all. They didn't inquire more about him, opting to let me do whatever I pleased, as long as I was safe. Yeah, those were their words. They didn't care how ma

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   Strange questions

It was two weeks after meeting John that I noticed something odd about him. It wasn't obvious at first, and I seemed to have overlooked it when we were in college. Or you could say he started it new. He said something about feeling too lazy to climb the stairs during our first lunch together after the reunion, right? It turned out he needed my permission before he could enter both my office and car, something that didn't sit well with me. The first time I asked him to meet me at the office, but he asked something odd. “Should I come in?” That was his question when I called to tell him I was busy and would like to have lunch with him in my office. Playfully, “I told him yes, of course.” And that was why he met me upstairs. From that time, he didn't ask for permission and always came up on his way back to work. I had forgotten that incident until the day he came in a cab. I offered to drive to the restaurant he chose. Instead of entering the car like a normal person would, he asked

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   Docile pack members

MILESWe sat down, watching the people of the pack as they discussed among themselves. We didn't tell Summer we were having a meeting with them, knowing she would love to go with us. We wanted to keep this a secret from her until we were certain they were ready to accept her. Sighing, I watched our people. The ones present were the elders and those working in public offices. The only ones who weren't with us were the teachers, though each was watching us with their phones or laptops. We made it this way, so they could concentrate on their students while listening to us. We also made it possible for them to contribute to what we would discuss in the meeting. This way, none of them would claim we did not inform them about it like we knew they would. For those who were always against whatever decision we made, they might try to slip out from it all. Mitch cleared his throat as he got up from the armchair he was reclining on. The moment they noticed him standing, the entire place went

You are free to whatever thoughts you might have. Everyone has freedom of choice. We will never force you to support what you don't want. So, what are your replies?” Mitch looked around, his gaze going to the big screen set up, to know if the ones watching us had something to say. Just like those in the hall, they knew objecting would only land them in trouble. “We support your decisions, Alpha!” They chorused, knowing it was the right thing to do if they wished to keep their heads. When they quieted down, Jeremy raised his hand. “I have something to say, Alpha!” He called out when Mitch didn't notice him. “Oh. Please tell us what you have in mind, Jeremy. Please keep in mind, that everyone is entitled to their choices. We are not forcing you to support us. You are free to speak your mind with reasons, just like Elder Mazi did. I'm no

SUMMER“Are you alright, Luna?” Don asked, rushing over to me. He must have seen me rise from the bench when I saw Fred. “Is everything alright?” He demanded, sounding worried. “Yeah, I'm good.” Nodding, I forced a smile, wondering if I had imagined everything. But there was no way that could be the truth. He turned to stare at me, so I didn't imagine seeing him. Fred was just here. Don didn't look convinced by my response. He frowned, looking at the spot Fred was standing before he turned to focus on me. “Did you see someone you knew?” He seemed to be fishing for an answer from me, trying to know why I acted the way I did. Smiling, I shook my head as I stepped back. “I'm good.” I perceived he could tell the smile was forced, from the way he looked at me, with his eyebrows raised. He didn't ask anymore, though. Shrugging, he helped me back to the bench. “Should I get a bottle of water for you?” He inquired, ready to go on any errand I might send him on. Frowning, I glanced arou

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   Not again

When I looked behind me and didn't see the familiar red car that had been a constant for me, I thought little about it, knowing they had to take time before turning. It wasn't their fault that I gave little warning to them before I did. I had just driven a mile or so when a car blocked my path. Puzzled, I tried to avoid colliding with it by driving back, so I could drive by the side, only for my car to get hit on the back. “What the freaking fuck?!” I cursed, trying to drive my car out, only for the one in the front to smash into it. I knocked my head on the steering wheel, losing consciousness.….My head hurts. Every part of my body felt like it survived a run-down. I attempted to open my eyes, but it felt difficult. Something wet and warm trickled down the side of my face. I tried to raise my hand, to touch my head but realized I couldn't move it.What's happening?I wondered, recalling what happened the last time I was awake. At the thought of that, I snapped my eyes open, winc

“But before that, you guys need to wash up,” I said in my way stern voice. “What do you do after a full day of playing out?” “We wash up!” Blue replied while the girls groaned.“Good. It's time to do that, darlings.” The girls sighed at my words. With their shoulders drooped and matching frowns on their faces, they strode towards the stairs, with Blue skipping all the way.“How was work, darling?” Miles asked as he placed a kiss on my left cheek. “Good.” Smiling, I stepped into the kitchen to announce my return to my other mates before I went upstairs to help the kids with their bath. The girls asked to go first, so they could rush downstairs and eat the cookies their dad promised them before Blue could finish. And being the best mummy I could for my son, I bathed him first, while the girls groaned about how unreasonable this was. Really? They thought it was unfair because I didn't honour their wishes. I couldn't be blamed for that, though. Not when Blue was the only one who wo

Four Years Later“Mum!” I turned at the call, smiling as Hazel ran towards me. “See mummy, I drew a cat!” she yelled out. “Oh, darling.” I got down on one knee so I could hug her. “Let's see.” I took the drawing book from her and made a surprised expression at the cat she drew. “It's wonderful!” I leaned down and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Soon, you will be so good at this, you will beat the best artists in the entire world.” “Even the humans?” She looked up, her eyes sparkling.“Yeah, those.” I patted her red hair, which was so much like my father's. Well, our babies all had red hair and blue eyes. I assumed they would have the same hair as their fathers, but they took after their grandfather. “Mum!” Scarlet and Blue ran towards me, yelling as they tried to outrun each other.Seeing how delighted they were at my return, you would think I left them for a trip, not knowing I just returned from work. Ever since the pack opened the veil to welcome the human city, the human

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   The mating ceremony

When I assumed things couldn't get any better, my mates proved me wrong. I didn't know they were still thinking of the mating ceremony. I had long given up on that. Despite the change of treatments from the pack; I assumed they wouldn't fully accept me. Who would have thought my mates would get them to accept me?They didn't tell me about that because the elders were still waiting for an auspicious day. As my due date got nearer, they became apprehensive. However, they didn't tell me the reason until the elders provided a date, two days before the date the doctor gave me. They were so thrilled, they almost hugged the living hell out of me. It felt like they were going to press our babies out from how happy they were as they expressed their happiness. I might not be a werewolf, but I understood how important it was for them to bond with me before the babies arrived. Father was, after all, the one who made the rules. Funny enough, I had forgotten about that until Mitch mentioned it.

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   I didn't mean to hurt her

SUMMERIt appeared Helen was the one who followed me. While the others burned in the house, she escaped so she would get rid of me, as revenge. It turned out her lover died in the fire with the rest.We fought with each other, and she would have hit the stone on my head, but she slipped. When I saw her on the floor, I couldn't tell what got over me as I climbed on her and used the rock she intended to kill me with on her. It wasn't until she was dead that I realized what I had just done. My hands shook as I watched her, tears streaming down my eyes at the sight of the lifeless woman I had just killed. I didn't know what to do, and could only sit there bawling out my eyes as I tried to tell the world I didn't harm her intentionally. Had she not sought to kill me, I doubt I would have harmed her. It took a lot from my mates to console me until I stopped shivering. Though I kept on muttering that I didn't mean to murder her, I wasn't as scared as I was when I hit her head with the sto

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   Is this another trap?

“I support that,” I added when I noticed my brothers were looking at me, waiting for my confirmation. “It's settled then. No matter how many fake tracks we will get, we have all decided to scale through them, right?” John lifted an eyebrow, waiting for our reply. “That's right.” We nodded. If he was pissed we spoke at the same time, he didn't let it show. Instead, he grinned as he turned, and soon took off. We followed him, my brothers having changed into their human form after our first fight. They realized it was easier to fight the bloodsuckers in our human forms since our wolves were vulnerable to their claws. And like that, we ended up going to ten bases. It wasn't until the last one that we got on the right track. We learned it from a vampire who recognized John. It turned out John was with the vampire prince, who ran away from home when he was eighteen and refused to return. The night we beat him up was his first day away from home. Hearing about that made us guilty. Though

MITCHIt turned out we were right by enlisting John's help. I doubt we would have discovered a trail had he not been with us. Though it was painful to say these words, I would do that. His nose was more sensitive and sharp than ours was. While we couldn't pick up a scent from the different ones in the air, he could do that. He didn't even have to continue sniffing as he went like we would have done. Not only did he discover Summer's scent among the millions in the air, but he also found out that whoever took her was working with vampires. I would have teased him about not knowing the things his pack members were involved with but thought better about it. We had far more pressing matters to do, and teasing wasn't part of it. John didn't immediately set out when he got the scent he was looking for. He kept on sniffing to make sure his nose wasn't picking up the wrong ones before he took off. My brothers changed into their wolf forms and ran after him, while I called Jeremy for reinfor

I watched him without saying a word because I didn't know what the fuck I should say. This wasn't what I was expecting. When I called the murderer a psycho, I believed he did it because of the gratification he got from shedding blood. Who would have thought they forced him to do it? I didn't blame him at all. Even though his way of taking care of things wasn't right. He shouldn't have taken matters into his hands like he did. But I still didn't fault him.Had I been in his shoes, I would have done worse than that. I was aware of how soft-hearted I was, but not in such a situation. I wouldn't have let those men stay a minute more on earth, not after all the things they did to my best friend.“I wouldn't say I understand your pain, and I won't also claim to know how you feel because I haven't experienced something like this. However, I'm not faulting the actions you took. Had I been in the same situation, I would have done the same, even worse.” He looked surprised by my words. “Reall

  • My Alpha Stepbrothers Are Mine   Fred's side of the story

SUMMERI watched Helen with a bored look on my face. “Why did you tell me that? I believe in actions and not words, Helen. I hope you realize that.” “Oh?” She grinned, not looking fazed by my remarks. “I do too. I love action more than words, Summer. Soon, you will feel a taste of it, but not now. I just want you to enjoy the peace of this place while you can.” I didn't reply to that. All I did was roll my eyes and hope she could tell her words did not bother me. The door opened and closed before I heard footsteps. Like I did when Helen stepped in, I didn't look back. I just kept my attention on the woman sitting on the bed, while waiting for the person who entered to show themselves. And when they did, I could only gape, watching Fred with shocked eyes and my mouth opened wide in surprise. “Are you two working together?” I demanded, looking from one to the other while trying to tell myself I was imagining things. I knew I wasn't when Helen smirked. “Stunned?” Fred didn't say a

He arrived a few minutes later. It was faster than we expected. And to further stun us, he ran all the way. If that wasn't freaking crazy, you got to tell me what else might be. It wasn't until he stood in front of us that we realized why we thought the scent on Summer's body was familiar. On the night Summer ran away from home after we found our mate, we went to a human bar to get drunk and ran into him. He had the most awful smell in the entire world, and that pissed us off more than anything else. To cut a long story short, we ended up hitting him to ease our pain. We might have wounded him, but we didn't care. He was an outlet for us. Though we regretted it the next morning when we sobered up, we couldn't find him. He seemed to have disappeared after the fight. That's if you would call it that. It was more like a beating than a fight since we ganged up on him. “Fancy meeting you again.” He folded his arms, staring at us with his mouth pursed. “Didn't count on meeting the bulli
