Rhea’s POV

“The mate bond will make me able to control your emotions, your way of thinking, and your human urges. I will be able to make you forget all about them the second we are connected. I can feed you all my emotions and overwhelm you with them. Of course because I’m an alpha, you won’t be able to push yours on me at all. My feelings will become your feelings, my urges will be yours. Your humanity will not stand a chance against me, Rhea, trust me. It will work” he said lustfully.

It's the very first time I detect the hint of his lust for me. It made bile rise up my throat. Usually he ignores me and never bothers to look my way, unless I’ve done something wrong.

But the look in his eyes made me feel like he truly wanted me for more than just to help me erase my humanity. He wanted my body, as well. I could tell from the way his eyes roamed all over me hungrily.

Why the fuck did he pick me to get obsessed over? And how long has this obsession been going without my notice?

I can’t get my mouth to say anything. Although if I wanted him to believe I’m still loyal, I should be jumping at the offer he’s giving me. If I was truly who I’m claiming to be, I should be honored that he chose me, while in reality, I’m gagging on the inside at the thought of him going anywhere near me.

“You need to stall for time, you can’t let him mark us after everything we’ve endured and risked to be free of him! Not when we’re so close!” Hazel shouted in my head.

“Alpha….I think I need a little time to convince my wolf to accept this. She’s currently threatening to take her own life if I force her into this which will kill me in the process. But I will get her to agree to this, I just need…. Some time to work with her, please” I tried saying softly.

He furrowed his eyebrows “I’m not waiting for very long Rhea. You better get her on board or I will do it regardless” he promised darkly.

He turned his back and walked away, leaving me alone with the other alpha.

“This is so not about lust nor our best of interest. He has something else he’s not sharing with us in his mind” Hazel said suspiciously.

“Yeah? What would that be, Hazel? He’s a freaking alpha, he has no use for me other than to satisfy his sick, twisted manhood” I said tiredly to her.

“He can satisfy it without being mated to you! Come on! You have to see it too. There is something else he’s hiding” she argued intensely.

“Are you okay?” the alpha whispered so low, I could barely hear him.

I turned my head to him and saw him staring at me in concern.

“Where the hell is your brother? I can’t say no to him and I can’t stall for time more than once!” I hissed back at him in a low voice.

He sighed and said tiredly “He’s coming, he won’t leave me behind, I’m sure”

“You better be. And you better hold up your end and spare my life! I didn’t endure all that pain to end up being double crossed by you” I tried to speak fiercely but my voice broke down in the end and made me sound more vulnerable than I would have preferred.

I don’t do vulnerable in front of people. It was a weakness better kept hidden.

“You have my word. I won’t let anyone kill you” he said softly.

“Should we believe him?” I asked Hazel because I could no longer trust my own judgement at this point.

“I think he’s the first genuine person we’ve ever crossed path with. I would trust him to keep his word” she said confidently.

“What’s your name?” I asked to pass the time.

“Alec”

“Why did you ask Stefan to stop hurting me… Alec?” it was probably rude to exclude his alpha title but we’re way past that now considering our mutual situation.

“Let me counter that with two burning questions of my own…why the hell did it feel like you were doing everything you can to feel more pain? And how the hell did you fight that alpha command?” he whispered intensely.

“Well, Stefan needed to work harder on his torture tactics, so I was just giving him the motivation needed to help him improve his skills. As for the other question…I have no fucking idea. I thought I was done for to tell you the truth” I said back in a hushed tone.

He inspected me without commenting.

“Your turn” I said when he didn’t speak for a while “Why did you provoke him for my sake?”

“Who said I did it for you?” he scoffed sarcastically.

“Right…you just wanted to help Stefan improve his skills as well. So considerate of you” I said mockingly.

“You’re very weird you know? Even by rogue standards” he said softly, and I detected that hint of awe again in his eyes.

“I’ll take that as a compliment” I said dryly.

“You should… and about the alpha command you impossibly fought against…. I have a theory” he said curiously.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

I opened my mouth to ask him about his theory when I heard footsteps in the far distance.

We turned our eyes away from each other and fell silent.

Of course, fucking Stefan came back, alone.

“So, what did the alpha want with you?” he asked me with disgust coloring his voice.

“I’m afraid that’s above your rank, Stefan. Why don’t you ask the alpha that question?” I said with a smile.

“I don’t think there’s any need for that, considering you’ll be dead in a few minutes” he said in a deadly voice.

“After I’m done getting what I want from you” he carried on with a smug smile as he licked his lips and walked towards me.

I tensed up for the first time since I was tied up to the branch with silver and made helpless in everyway.

“The alpha will kill you if you touch me, I’m to be his mate” I threatened seriously.

It took him by surprise, but soon that surprise vanished and the sick hunger in his eyes retuned.

“Even if it’s true, he’ll never find out. I’ll just say the other alpha got free of his shackles and attacked you before I killed him… trying to save you of course, but it was too late already” he said huskily before he shoved a bottle full of wolfs bane down my throat forcibly as he gripped my mouth open with a grip that almost broke my jaw.

Alec used his free legs and kicked Stefan away from me, making the bottle fall down to the ground next to his fallen body.

I heaved and coughed uncontrollably trying to spit every last drop. But it was too late. I could feel my connection to Hazel and my own powers weaken by the second.

We were left weak but somehow the amount we ingested must not have been enough, because I could still hear the clear mind link from one of the rogues screaming in my head, in all our heads “Attack!”

I didn’t have time to feel relieved because that’s when all hell broke loose, literally.

I was hit with a whiff of a scent that left me paralyzed in my place. A scent so strong, so intoxicating, it made my mouth salivate, and my heart start beating faster.

What the hell is this scent? I’ve never smelled something so powerful like that! It invaded all my senses and filled them up with that essence, as if my body was savoring it into my very soul.

I was too stunned, I didn’t see Stefan coming for me until Alec screamed violently “Rhea!”

And I was too late then.

Instead of hitting me like I was expecting, he broke down the branch holding me up, making me fall face down on the ground with my hands still tied with silver.

He turned me around and started ripping down my jeans viciously while I thrashed and fought against him, shrieking at the top of my lungs.

This is not how I’m going to die after everything I’ve already been through!

After my jeans was off against my will and I was left with my already worn underwear, one of his giant hands trapped both my slender arms in place above me, while his other started to lower down his own jeans and revealed his disgusting erect penis.

The son of a bitch was crazy and deranged! Didn’t he hear that the pack was under attack! What the hell is wrong with him!

I’ve never screamed louder before in my whole life, I’ve also never been as scared as that moment when I knew he was going to force himself on me.

But he never did.

Because the next time I blinked, his head was rolling down to my left side, while his body was thrown to the right.

I lifted my head and came directly face to face with….

“Mate!” Hazel whispered weakly in my head before she disappeared inside my head, finally succumbing fully to the effects of the wolfs bane.

And I was left all alone, staring at a gigantic black wolf who was also staring back at me, with what I couldn’t mistake as disgust, hate, and murder in his eyes… for me.
