Savannah
We pull up to an iron gate somewhere near Cypress Hills. Beyond it I can see a long drive that winds through woods as far as I can see. I knew that New York had forests, but I’m stunned to see how beautiful and vast they really are. I can envision myself running through them and letting the wind blow through my hair. But, I hate running so I laugh at the daydream.
Savannah“Ok Savannah, if you would like, I can give you something to calm you down. I think it will be easier to get through this without all of your heightened emotions getting in the way. It’s going to be a lot of information. Is that ok?”Heightened emotions? What? Is that a nice way of saying panic attack?
Nathan“Get the poor girl back up on the table Nathan. That was too much to take in all at once. We’re going to have to go easy on her with the information,” Ebony scolds as I gently place Savannah on the exam table.I know we shouldn’t have thrown so much at her rig
Savannah“I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to these noises.” I swirl a finger down his chest and another seductive growl rumbles deep within. I bite my lip, taking all of him in. I’m not lying -- the animalistic noises take a lot of processing. But right now? They’re just really turning me on. Nathan pulls his hand away to help me undress and I hear a whimper from inside of my head. I must have a weird face because he stops and looks at me.
SavannahI want to believe Nathan, and I know that he would have no reason to lie to me, but I can’t shake the terrible feeling like I know him somehow. I definitely think he knows me, or someone who looks like me maybe.Nathan pulls me into his chest and I feel an instant calm rush over me. The moment is soothing for both of us. But then a phone rings, and both of us groa
SavannahI wake up startled when I hear a low grumble coming from below my ear, followed by an angry hiss behind my back. I look and start to laugh when I realize it’s Nathan’s stomach and Louis’s audible protests at our guest. My two fur balls, nemesis's, finally getting along. Kind of. I smile at both of them as they return to their peaceful slumber on either side of me, trapping me with my thoughts.
NathanSomething isn't right. Nico and I can both sense it.“Savannah? What’s wrong?” I unbuckle my seat belt and turn to face her completely.
Nathan“I lost her once to someone else, I won’t let that happen again.” Tobias growls out as he gets into an aggressive stance. He’s really going to challenge me?
SavannahI trail behind Ebony as she leads me out of the hallway lined with portraits and through a large kitchen. I don’t have much time to admire the size or the décor because I know that where I’m going is more important. My focus is on finally getting to the bottom of what happened to my mother all those years ago.
Savannah“Good morning.” I stretch and feel Nathan shift away from me.“Good morning, baby,” he responds cheerfully, standing fr
Nathan“I don’t know why you didn’t just tell me Savannah.” I run my hand along her back with the washcloth as the water cascades down our bodies. “I’ll be here for you through anything. You know that, right?” Leaning down, I kiss her shoulder and she sighs and lets the water hit her face.
Savannah“Come on! Again!” Tobias shouts at me as I’m hunched over, panting heavily, with my hands on my knees. “Stand up Savannah! Hands on your knees is a sign of weakness!” His booming voice echoes throughout the gym and makes me jump.“
NathanI pull my dress pants back up and buckle them, as Savannah stands from the desk and tugs her skirt down. Latching my belt, I wink at her as she finger combs through her hair, smiling at me. I needed this.Weneeded this.
SavannahI roll over and snuggle into the warmth that has been radiating onto my back all night. Nathan tugs the blanket up and over us and pulls me in closer to him.“Mmm, do I really have to go to work this morning?”I link him as I press my forehead to his.
SavannahI’m staring into Nathan's eyes, but I’m looking at the most mesmerizing wolf. His fur is jet black, but in the light of the moon it has a silver sheen to it. He’s much larger than I expected him to be. When he was standing, his head came almost to my ribcage. I wonder if all werewolves are this big. His eyes are the same blue as when he's Nathan, but they appear more like crystals against the contrast of his fur.Torri let me know how to cut off the link with Nathan while he was shifting. She said it’s like closing a door in my head between u
NathanSavannah licks the fresh wound on my neck and I immediately feel like I’m whole again. I can’t remember the last time I felt complete. The rush of the mate bond pours through both of our bodies like the currents in a magnet. I prop myself up on my elbows and stare into her eyes, which for a second flash a golden hue. Mymate. Now in every sense of the wor
SavannahI stand against the brick of my apartment building, with my finger in my mouth, chewing away at what cuticle I still have left. I asked Nathan to wait inside and he didn’t object. I can’t believe I almost told him I love him. I know the bond is strong and I know exactly why I have these feelings, but I don’t want to move too fast. It’s the human in me, wanting to take things at a normal pace. I’m happy with how we are now.
NathanThis is not how I wanted to spend my afternoon, locked in an argument with my father. Yet here we are.“Son, I’m not going to explain myself to you. You’re not going to like what you find if you keep digging around in the past.” My father’
