Lucius stood up and walked to his working table at the end of the room. He opened the red with a gold-adorned curtain behind the desk and looked outside the palace.
He was deep in his thoughts.
Selene took a deep breath. Repeating what he said just now inside her head.
“Ritual? Elders? Wha…” She retook a deep breath to calm herself.
“Look… King Lucius…” she argued, well… she called him king because out of courtesy, of course. She never met a king before, so this was at least what she could do and keep her neck safe in this uncertain situation.
“As you know, I am not a citizen of this place. Please enlighten me. What do you mean by rituals? And who are the Elders? And why, I… the stranger, must attend this ritual? This is not making any sense to me.”
“Please explain!” demanded Selene.
She was exhausted, cranky and hungry.
“Why do you need to attend the ritual? Why darling, because you are the main star of this ritual.” Lucius answered her question.
“What kind of ritual is that?” Selene tried to think positively. She was kinda afraid to hear his answer.
Please, I begged you, not the sacrificial ritual or something like that…
“Well… to put it simply, it’s a marriage ritual.” Selene was going crazy upon hearing all of this nonsense.
How could she marry a stranger? Even though he was the most handsome man she had ever seen. But still! She was not going to get trapped or get deceived by the crazy grand scheme or whatever it was!
“And to ease your rapidly beating heart right now, you will be married.. to me,” said Lucius calmly.
Silence took place inside Lucius’ bedroom.
Lucius stared intently at the girl who occupied his bed right now. Her auburn hair was a curly mess. Her pale face was home to a pair of the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. Those eyes were big and had the greenest green, almost like moss in the Ariadne Forest.
She was not the most beautiful girl he ever knew.
But somehow, her smile made him skip a beat. And he felt that there was an invincible rope that drew him to be constantly near her.
She was just like gravity to him.
Is this magic that the Goddess Moon cast upon him?
To be completely besotted toward a stranger and ready to do anything for her? He hated this feeling but was helpless, and he could not resist the raging emotion whenever he heard Selene’s voice.
Lucius saw Selene stand from the bed and fetch the water from the cabinet. Looked at her with her white nightgown like that made his inner wolf growl…
She was mine!
After she gulped and drained the water, she put the glass on the cabinet and walked toward him.
She looked angry. Her eyes were determined, and she breathed faster, not to mention her face became rosy red as if she held her anger inside.
Well... she had to get married to a stranger. It was also a bad option for the sacrificial ritual. It also chopped her freedom. She just wanted to be back home and leave all of this behind. And just thought of these events as a long, painful nightmare.
“I’m to be married? To you?” Her voice was so low but full of anger.
“Yes,” replied Lucius.
“But why? You don’t know me. We are practically strangers!” she raised her voice.
Lucius wanted to smile. She was very cute.
“Yes, we are strangers. Too bad. But I’m almost sure that you are Luna.”
“What the heck is Luna? I’m Selene, not Luna. You are mistaken. I think you’re talking with the wrong person.” Selene was exhausted, and she got angry with everything that happened to her since she was transported into this new world.
“You want to know who Luna is?” Lucius stepped forward and stopped just an inch from her. She needed to step back to maintain the distance between them.
Selene stared at him defiantly. Challenged him to talk more.
“Or rather, should I show you what Luna is for me?”
Before she could respond to him, he kissed her lips.
A slow, burning kiss that built into a passionate, hungry kiss. It was maybe a three-second kiss, a minute, or even an hour full before Selene came to her senses.
Selene tried to break the kiss, but his arms caged her body.
Until she finally kicked his shin, and he broke the kiss. But his arms still encircled her. It did not make her hurt. But it sure made her stay in the place.
“What did you do?” Selene shouted loudly.
She prepared to kick his private area if he tried doing something like this.
“Luna is a future queen of Lafazall Kingdom. She is the soulmate of the king and the alpha lycan wolf, the leader of the werewolf pack of this kingdom.”
Selene heard what he said but still could not process the information logically.
“What? A soulmate?” She whispered.
Soulmate of the king, and soulmate of the alpha wolf… he said?
Selene shook her head. This was crazy!
She did not want to be married to this king, let alone to another stranger guy called the alpha wolf!
“This is straight out crazy! I don’t want to marry you and another person called alpha wolf or whatever his name is.” She screamed.
Lucius lifted his eyebrow again. Oh, Selene hated to see that superior gesture by him.
“I think we should straight out one or two facts first here.”
“First, if you are Luna, there is no escape from this ritual. Either you do it, or you die.”
“Second one, who do you think is the alpha wolf?” Lucius dared her to answer his question.
A wild thought crossed her mind.
Impossible…
Could it be… that he was…
Lucius smiled as if he could hear what she thought.
“I am the King of Lafazall, and the Alpha Wolf of this kingdom, my dear.”

SELENE She was an avid reader. Especially if it was a romance novel, be it with the mafia genre, sports romance, chick-lit, or her favorite was historical romance. She dabbled a bit in fantasy romance like the vampire-werewolf stories as well. What just came from the mouth of the most handsome person on earth was like the premise of a fantasy romance novel. “Come again?” Selene made sure she heard that right. “How was your coming-of-age celebration, Selene? Where is your pack and your Alpha? I couldn’t sense your wolf,” he continued to interrogate her. But whatever sentences uttered by him made her more confused. It felt nonsensical–but at the same time, this was as real as it got. Selene could only shake her head in confusion. “I don’t–I don’t understand a bit about what you said to me,” Selene said desperately. She was feeling constrained with all the overload sensories on her end. Selene needed time and space to process this information alone. She felt lonely and confu
Selene gulped the water that tasted so clear and pure she had never thought she had tasted it before. She tilted her head in confusion when she heard the rebuttal from two girls Selene guessed had a profession as the maid.“Why? I can take a shower alone,” Selene responded. They led her to a room behind the door and saw a magnificent bathroom behind it. A large bathtub filled with hot water and sprinkled with flowers made the room smell great. One young girl was on standby with toiletries and smiled awkwardly when she saw Selene enter the room.“Wow!” Selene could not help but feel amazed by the view. She felt transported back into the luxury of the medieval kingdom timeline.“What year is it now?” she suddenly remembered w
After hearing that, her stomach magically produced the sound, announcing to the world that she was hungry. They stopped their walk momentarily before resuming the walk as if nothing happened. “Sorry about that,” she murmured in a low voice, mortified by the loud sound of her stomach. Sir Shiraz only nodded and did not say anything, whereas the maids were walking behind them, and Selene heard them giggling faintly. They finally arrived at the most prominent dining room she’s ever seen. It was a hall with a long table filled with fresh flowers, and at the side of the table, there was one seat already filled with tableware and hot meals served on the table. “Is this for me?” she looked up at Sir Shiraz, who stood still with an impassive expression. “Yes, Miss. The waiters are waiting over there if you need help. I will wait outside the door until you finish,” he said before he exited the room. Selene felt awkward when she had to eat alone in this excessive setting. But, she could not
LUCIUSThe meeting with the council was taking its toll, and it took so much time. Many issues have been covered in the session since this morning. Covering the food security for the farthest regions of the kingdoms, the border security with their neighboring kingdoms and tribes, and the dark magic that would come as a threat because several kingdoms illegally practiced dark magics without the consensus of their neighbor kingdoms–resulting in a rift between them. As for now, Lafazall Kingdom was only observed from afar without interfering with their sovereignty. “Your Majesty, there is one thing we need to talk about before we conclude the meeting,” Azara, the Elders, stopped him to finish today’s meeting. “What is it?” he halted from his tracks and turned his back on them again. Azara’s hoarse voice was heard faintly from his seat, “I heard you bring a woman to your room, My King? We would not interfere with your personal affairs… but we had just finished the ritual in the Ariadn
They walked side by side. Lucius had to shorten his steps to balance her small steps. She was tiny compared to him. “Lucius,” she called him, and his guards gasped when they heard her calling his given name casually like that. “Oh, my bad! I mean… King, uh–” she flustered, trying to correct how she must address him. But Lucius only chuckled when he saw that and did not correct her. “It’s Your Majesty,” Shiraz jumped in from behind them. “You should call him His Majesty or Your Majesty,” he said. “Oh, yes, right. So, Your Majesty… can I get your permission to go to Ariadne Forest?” she asked him again. “Come again?” he asked. Making sure he heard her right. “I want to check the forest,” she replied. “There’s nothing there,” he replied curtly. He would not permit her to go there without him. “Why do you want to go there?” he sent her an inquisitive look. But inside, his wolf was angry that he would lose his Luna. “To check the portal. He taunted her with his enticing smells and dominant aura–she was like a lamb who completely fell for his charms. He took her body at ease and put her on his lush bed. Lucius took his time to take off his clothes and finally put his body on top of hers. “Mine, my Luna–” he chanted repeatedly while his hands leisurely explored her body. His touches made her heart beat like crazy, and she could not stop moaning whenever he discovered her sensitive spots. When he touched her core, she cringed because of the intrusion. He was aware of that and stopped. “Is it hurt?” he asked in a rough voice. “I just… startled, ah… it felt good,” she was raving in pleasure, and her basic instinct took over her body and mind. She complied with his order. She stood closer, and Lucius took her waist and brought her into his hug. “You might initially feel disoriented. Just close your eyes and stay in my arms. We will transport into Ariadne Forest.” Lucius gave her a warning for the first-timer who had never used or had experience of transporting. Before she could say anything, she felt the weird sensation of flying, yet simultaneously, she felt suctioned into a bottomless hole. One second later, she felt the cold air with the fresh, flowery scent assaulting her senses. She gasped for air because she was startled by all the new sensations. “How are you feeling, Selene?” asked Lucius. Selene was still closing her eyes and trying to calm her heart. “Whoa!” That was all she could say. “I felt a bit dizzy,” She replied slowly. She was still in shock–or in denial about whatever happened. She was transported to a different place within a second. “Hold onto me,” he said. When she felt her condition

Selene walked together with Noura after she insisted that she wanted to check and see the training grounds–where the guards and the selected elite warriors practiced daily. She looked in awe. All the athletic bodies with sweat glistening on their skin made those warriors look significantly better. And without realizing it, she smiled and put up a dreamy face. Indeed, those were fine-looking men, such a sight to behold. When she checked on Noura, she had the same expression as her. And when they looked at each other–their laughter was finally broken. "Miss Selene!" Noura scolded her, but Selene didn't feel embarrassed when caught red handedly watching the knights with a deep interest. "They're looking good!" Selene said defensively. "I can't blame you, though. The knights are mighty fine," Noura mumbled beside her. At least they were on the same page regarding this matter. Selene watched the knights intently. She couldn't tell which knights already had mates or which didn'

Lucius walked to his mother’s palace. It was as grand as the main palace where he resided. The vast garden filled with spring flowers surrounded the front palace. The scenery in front of the Dowager Queen’s palace looked stunning. “Any agenda we need to prepare for you to meet the Dowager Queen? Your Majesty?” One of his aides asked him. He could not hide his astonishment at why the King visited his mother in broad daylight like this out of the blue. “Why? Because of the filial duty, of course,” Lucius smirked. His Beta, Shiraz, coughed as if to disguise his chortle. “Stop it, Shiraz!” he said to his Beta. “Yes, Your Majesty,” Shiraz complied. “I think you need to give the Queen a gift. She would be surprised if her beloved son gave her something. I am sure she will treasure it,” Shiraz gave him advice. Lucius stopped on his track. Yeah, that was sound advice. It had been too long since she visited her mother. Should he give her another land as a gift? He pondered internally u
