“Well, well,” Alaric said, his voice low and mocking. “What do we have here?”

Alaric’s sudden appearance from his room made my breath catch in my throat. For a moment, I was frozen at the spot, thinking I was dead. The image of Derek flashed before my eyes and I could see myself in his place, on the ground, fighting for my life.

His tall frame cast a shadow over me, and his ice-cold eyes pierced through my skin, sending shivers down my spine. There was amusement in his gaze as he studied me, taking his time to present himself as the strong one between the two of us. He knew I was afraid, and wanted to come off as intimidating.

“Little Kat,” he drawled, his voice deceptively soft and warm. A fake East London accent followed when he continued. “What a surprise. What brings you to my door, dear?”

I swallowed hard, willing my feet not to back away from him. My heart was pounding so loud against my chest, I was sure he could hear it from where he was standing. But I told myself t

I hated my family. And even more than that, I hated the fact that I had no other choice but to leave behind the town I grew up in and move to Washington, to live with my mom's new family. While I knew Washington would be a lot different from Texas, yet, my mind was consumed by the thought of living in a house filled with strangers. I blamed my poor state on my father, for not loving or caring about me. For calling me after years, only when he learned that I was going to live with mom's new family. I hated him for not coming to my graduation or calling me to tell me that he was proud of me. I hated him for choosing a man over me, his flesh and blood. I also blamed my mother and her habit of jumping from one man to another. However, I was also a little impressed by her, because this time, she hadn't gone after a carpenter, a chef, an author, or a musician. This time, she managed to catch a big fish. Her sixth husband was the owner of a multinational tech company and the sixth ric

“Having fun, little wolf?” The words echoed in my head. I was still puzzled by the new feeling erupting in my body when he brushed his lips against my neck. No one had ever done something like that to me before. I had no idea how to react. So, I closed my eyes and forced my brain to stop thinking and let my body move on its own. Our bodies moved in unison. He grabbed my hand, which sent shivers down my spine, and swirled me around. That's when I got to see him for the first time. He stood tall over me, with dark blonde hair and forest green eyes. He had me completely enthralled. I couldn't take my eyes away from him, and he was staring at me like I was a food item. He was simply stunning. I inspected his body, letting my hand roam over his wide shoulders, strong chest, and torso. He was gifted with a good amount of muscles that complemented his physique. I also noticed a tattoo peeking through the opening of his shirt when he moved. “What are you looking at?” he whispered in my

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    KISSES

We kissed all the way to the hotel he was staying in, and I cherished every moment his lips were on mine. The hotel was one of the luxury ones and his suite was enormous, though I didn't get to see much because he carried me bridal style and took me into the bedroom. I saw the bed in the middle of the room and tensed up. However, he didn't take me to the bed. Instead, he tossed me onto a couch near the entrance and began unbuttoning his shirt. I quickly got rid of my dress and shoes, thanking Camilia in my head for buying me a pair of black lace lingerie and convincing me to wear it that night. I looked at him as he threw his shirt on the floor, and fell back onto the soft furniture, arching my back- just like I'd seen in a movie. It looked so sensual that I had wanted to try it ever since. He groaned as he knelt, pressing soft kisses to my stomach. One hand gripped my ass while the other played with my breasts. I had never felt anything like that before. Everything about him

Lucas was huge. "What happened? You look scared, little wolf," he said, making me raise my head to look him in the eyes. "I-I-I don't think this is going to work," I breathed out, pulling myself to sit up. "I haven't done it with anyone and you're... like this." He smirked and once again picked me up in his arms. "Don't worry, I'll be slow and careful not to hurt you." He carried me to the bed, and after placing me softly on the mattress, he climbed on top of me. Both of us were naked; no piece of fabric separated us, and I could feel his erection on my stomach. I tried looking away, but he grabbed my chin and moved my face so that we were staring into each other's eyes. He licked his lips and then slowly rubbed them against mine. The action sent electricity throughout my body, and I grabbed his arms, trying to rub my waist against him like before. He smirked and once again came down for my lips. I reached forward, but he pulled away. "I thought you didn't want this," he teased,

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    NEW HOUSE

Three Days Later, “Miss Katherine! We’re going to be there in five.” The old chauffeur said, glancing at me through the rearview mirror. I gave him a weak smile when our eyes met, but it quickly faded as soon as he turned his attention back to the road. I sighed, trying to quell the nervous flutters in my stomach. My fingers fiddled with the hem of my shirt, and I looked out the window, trying to absorb the new environment. Washington was much greener and wetter than the dry town where I spent my teenage years. The lush trees lined both sides of the winding road, their leaves glistening under the soft drizzle that had begun to fall. The air was cool and smelled of pine, a stark contrast to the dry, sun-baked earth I was used to. I’d always dreamed of visiting a place like that, but now that I was here, all I could feel was dread. My heart pounded against my chest as the feeling of unease consumed me. I was moving in with seven stepbrothers, none of whom I had ever met, and w

“Little sister!” I thought about the word and repeated it in my head, but it never felt authentic. It was weird listening to him call me ‘little sister’ when we were not siblings. While it was true that our parents got married, I never gave much thought to that new relationship. Frankly, I didn't know if I wanted to because I wasn't blood-related to them. The whole idea of being part of a family I barely knew still felt foreign. “Yeah, that’s Katherine,” Dev replied, his tone carrying a hint of amusement. He then turned towards me and added, “And this lazy guy over here is Neel.” Neel sat up, rubbing his brown eyes before offering me a lopsided grin. “Welcome to the madhouse, Kat. Can I call you Kat?” “Y-yeah,” I said hesitantly, feeling a bit awkward under his sleepy gaze. “Relax, we’re not murderers here—well, apart from Ian.” “Neel,” Dev warned, glaring at his brother, who looked exactly like him. They had the same facial structure, height, complexion, and eye colour.

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    CASPIAN

“You guys know each other?” Leo questioned, looking between the two of us, unaware of the storm raging in my heart. The moment Lucas' eyes met mine, something unspoken passed between us—a flicker of recognition that sent a jolt through my entire body. The memory of that night came rushing back, the way he had made me feel both exhilarated and terrified at the same time. I never imagined I’d see him again, much less in my new home, as my stepbrother. For a few agonizing seconds, we just stared at each other, both too stunned to speak. His expression shifted from confusion to something darker, his gaze narrowing as if he were trying to piece together the situation. “What happened? Are you guys going to answer me?” Leo's voice cut through the tension, oblivious to the atmosphere between us. He tilted his head, eyes darting between Lucas and me. Lucas recovered first, masking whatever thoughts were running through his mind with a charming smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Yeah

“What do you think of me, Leo?” Lucas asked, narrowing his eyes at his brother. Leo, still comfortably perched on Caspian’s lap, shrugged nonchalantly. Lucas clenched his jaw and said, “I don’t flirt with every girl I see.”“That’s hard to believe,” Neel commented, entering the room from what I assumed was the kitchen. I could see a kitchen island behind him, though everything else was hidden behind a wall separating the two rooms.“Then don't believe.” “What were you doing in the kitchen?” Caspian asked, absently scratching Leo’s head like a caring mother. The chauffeur wasn’t kidding when he said the other brothers treat Leo like a king. “I told you not to have snacks before dinner.”Neel rolled his eyes and took a seat on the armchair in front of the fireplace. “I just had a single cookie. I was starving.”“Because you skipped lunch. How many times do I have to tell you to eat lunch?” Dev shook his head, making me feel even more uncomfortable sitting there.“Skipping meals is not

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    TISSUES

’Was it the right thing to do? Is it my fault that Derek is in the hospital?’ The thought invaded my mind, making me feel worse than I was already feeling. I told myself that I couldn't have known that Alaric would try to poison his own brother, but the excuse didn't satisfy the guilt developing inside me. My mind kept blaming me for the things that happened to Derek. I couldn't escape. I was the one who heard Alaric and my mom conspiring against Derek and told Caspian all about it. I didn't ask him to keep it a secret and he told Lucas about it, which led to what happened. It wasn't me who killed Derek, but it was my fault he died. There was no other way to look at the things. If I had kept my mouth shut and hoped the others would find out about the plan themselves, maybe Derek wouldn't have been poisoned to keep us in check. I wasn't naive enough to believe Alaric meant to kill his brother, it was obviously a warning to the rest of the family. “Alaric is a psychopath. Alar

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    FROTHING

I’d stayed in Lucas’ office even after he and Caspian left, trying to make sense of everything we had uncovered. I was still not convinced that Derek would do something illegal like that. He was already a multi-billionaire, why would he put everything at risk for a few more millions It just didn't make any sense, no matter how I tried to look at it. It was strange, almost surreal, how quickly the day turned from relative calm to something far more sinister, and that wasn't even the end of it. Something far worse was seconds away from happening, and oblivious, I sat in the room, looking at the encrypted emails. It had been about ten minutes since Caspian and Lucas left for Derek's when I heard a scream that shattered the silence of the house. My stomach dropped when I realized it was Leo. Without a second thought, I bolted out of Lucas’ office, my mind racing with all the terrible possibilities. The panic in his tone was unmistakably raw and unfiltered like a wounded animal taki

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    ALTERNATIVE WAY

I looked at Lucas in confusion. There was a reason why we were keeping it a secret from the others. We couldn't just tell them, it would cause us more trouble if the whole family knew. Letting everyone know meant more chances of Alaric and my mom finding out. “Are you sure about it, Lucas?” I questioned, trying to think of an alternative way. “If we tell them, there's a huge possibility that they might try to help, even if it means putting themselves in danger. And do you think Leo won't ask my mom about it? Or confront her for lying to him?” “Kat, I understand all the things you're saying, but we have to tell them for their safety,” Lucas said, massaging his temples. His tone was resolute, though I saw the flicker of unease in his eyes. “Their lives could be in danger. They need to know so they can at least be careful.” My mind once again replayed the chilling threat we had just received over the phone. Every part of my brain screamed that we were in very big trouble and maybe w

The ride back home with Neel was lighter than I anticipated. For some reason, I thought he would ask me about Alaric, and that had me on the edge the whole time. The last few days had been so stressful that I couldn't believe I was finally having a good time with someone. I told Dev and Caspian about Alaric yesterday, but they weren't able to do anything about him yet. They were being very cautious which I understand, given Alaric is their uncle, but I wanted them to do something fast. Lucas had some of the accountants he trusted from the company, look over their company's finances and find anything out of the ordinary. While Caspian was meeting with Derek's lawyer to find out how deep Alaric had his claws inside their business. Although I felt like I was in boiling water, thanks to Neel's animated recounting of our art class, I was able to enjoy myself a little, forgetting about everything else. Neel had a weird way of reading people's emotions, no matter how strongly you're

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    LUCAS'S POV: Part 1

I don’t usually dwell on the past; life’s too short to let the past weigh you down. But the last few weeks have been a constant reminder that some things can’t be ignored, no matter how hard you try. The increasing tension in the house, the secrets we were hiding, the growing complexity with Alaric and Dad—all of it started to unravel right in front of our eyes. My family had enough secrets to drown a whole nation, and now, Caspian's revelation about Alaric and Kat's mom had added another layer of complexity to an already tangled mess. I was still unsure of many things, but I knew it wasn't going to end well for us.It doesn't mean whether we win or lose, I had a bad feeling that destruction would follow behind. I’d seen my father lose control before—seen him lash out in frustration or spiral into his old habit of screaming about loyalty towards the family. But somehow, things felt different because Alaric was involved. Alaric was no ordinary problem. He was a parasite, leeching a

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    PART OF THE LOOP

The house felt unusually quiet when I stepped out of my room after a short nap in the afternoon. It wasn’t the same old comforting kind of quiet that was common during the afternoon in the house. Rather, it was the kind that makes your throat scratchy. The kind that settles in after too many secrets have been shared and too many lies have been left unspoken.I couldn’t shake the memory of my conversation with Caspian and Dev in the morning. Telling them about my mom and Alaric’s plans had felt like a weight lifting off my chest, but it didn’t lessen the confusion swirling in my mind. I still had too many questions. Neither did it make me comfortable like I hoped it would after telling them. I knew I had to do more, find more evidence against Alaric, something concrete to help them. They looked like they didn't want me to go with it anymore, and I knew sooner or later they were going to ask me to not get involved. But I had to be a part of it. Caspian didn’t say it outright earlie

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    CASPIAN'S POV: Part 4

After Kat revealed the conspiracy involving Alaric and her mom, my mind started working overtime to find a solution. I couldn’t sit still; I couldn’t just let things unfold without doing anything about it. I knew I had to take control of the situation. Kat was determined to help my family, and while I admired her for that, I couldn’t let her put herself in danger because of it. Alaric wasn't just a manipulative asshole; he could be downright dangerous when his back was against the wall. From a very early age, I have seen the truth about Alaric. He never tried to hide it from me. He was sharp, strategic, and willing to play dirty if required. Kat might have been able to sneak around him for a while, but I was sure sooner or later, he would catch on. And when he did, it wouldn’t be pretty. That's why I needed to keep her safe from him. And that meant taking matters into my own hands. My plan was straightforward: let Kat conduct her own investigation so she would feel involved, and wou

  • My 7 Deadly Stepbrothers    CONFESSION

The weight of my mother’s confession sat heavy on my chest, like a stone I couldn't dislodge. It felt like a constant reminder of the chaos brewing under everyone's feet. They had no idea about my mom and Derek conspiring together. All day, her words had been replying in my head—the nonchalant tone with which she admitted to manipulating Derek, using Alaric, and completely dismissing the fall out it would unleash in the future. She didn't realise that it wasn't just her life at stake, but also mine and everyone else entangled in that family.I sat on my bed, knees drawn to my chest, trying to focus on anything other than the storm in my head. The book I had picked up was lying next to me, forgotten a long while ago. The words blurred into an unintelligible mess every time I tried to read them. My thumbnail had taken the brunt of my anxiety, and the faint metallic tang of blood jolted me back to reality.Enough was enough.Their secret wasn't just my burden to carry. It was about mo
