Chapter 164

Serena had found an excuse earlier to get Edna out of the house, so Edna called Celeste at noon. She said that she was taking a day off because her husband broke his leg from a fall at the construction site.

Celeste's cheek was still swollen. She didn't want Edna to see this awkward side of her, so she transferred a thousand dollars to her. She told Edna to head back to her hometown.

Edna was worried about Celeste. She kept telling Celeste to eat well, to which Celeste agreed offhandedly.

Damon didn't know that Edna was on leave. When it was dinnertime, nobody came upstairs to knock on his door. So, he didn't head down to eat.

"What's the use of reading all this stuff when she's so pretentious and troublesome?" Annoyed, Damon gritted his teeth. He slammed the book shut and stuffed it back onto her half of the bookshelf.
