Amanda took the contract and read it once again before putting it back into the envelope and dumping it inside one of the drawers.
She picked up the office phone and called Oliver in, within a few seconds a light knock came on the door and a smiley Oliver walked in, excited to hear the reason for Alan Wesley's visit.
"Yes, Miss West?" He called out in a low voice when he noticed the look on Amanda's face. isn't she meant to be all smiley? he thought, his eyes fixed on her face.
"Yeah, Oliver, I need you to find this man," she said and moved the picture closer to him, Oliver picked up the picture and after gazing at it for a while, he looked up at Amanda with furrowed eyebrows
"Andrew West, my brother" she stated, confirming Oliver's suspicion.
He opened his mouth to ask questions, like why would she be looking for her brother but the look on Amanda's face shut him up "Yes Miss West, I'll get to it as fast as I can" he said.
"I need it by tomorrow Mr Romans"
"But it isn't..." He started, but Amanda quickly cut him.
"No excuses Oliver, that will be all. Thank you" she said with a tone of finality. He stared at her for a while and nodded his head.
"Sure" and with that, he walked out of her office and stormed off to his. He dropped the picture harshly on his table as picked up his phone
"Hey, I need a favour," he said quietly as soon as the person picked up."What is it now liv? I'm not hacking a game for you again" a soft girly voice said bluntly and Oliver rolled his eyes.
"I need you to find someone for me, and I need the details by tonight"
"Why?" The girl asked, suspicion thick in her voice.
"No questions Alice, will you help me out?" He asked, almost pleading, making Alice sigh
"Fine, what's the name?"
A smile immediately appeared on Oliver's face "The name is Andrew West"
The line immediately went silent when he said the name, Oliver removed the phone from his ear and gazed at it to be sure the call was still ongoing and it was, "Are you there?"
"Yes sorry, I just started searching him up," she said and Oliver smiled.
"Alright then, get to work and thank you!! I'll take you to dinner tomorrow" he promised.
"Yeah right" and with that, she ended the call.
Oliver stared at his phone with a smile and he shook his head, his eyes caught the picture again and he picked it and started looking at it.
He has never met any of Amanda's family except Jonathan but for some reason, the man in the picture looks familiar to him, way too familiar.
He stared at it for a while longer before he put it in a drawer "it's probably the resemblance to Miss West" he said and went back to work.
A while later Amanda stepped out of her office, with a frown still on her face "I'll be heading home now, tell the design team to send me the designs they came up with through email" she said and Oliver nodded.
"Sure thing," he said with a small smile. Amanda nodded briefly and was about to leave but paused and turned back towards Oliver.
"Have you started on what I asked for?"
"Yes, I'm already working on it"
"Okay then, see you tomorrow" and with one last nod, she walked out.
She headed straight to the garage, taking the VIP exit to avoid bumping into her employees. A big smile appeared on her face when she caught sight of her red Mercedes, she immediately hopped in with a grunt and pulled out her phone to check the time.
"2:40 pm," she muttered underneath her breath, a happy smile quickly graced her face at the fact that she will soon see her younger brother. She brought the car to life and drove out of the garage: heading to her brother's school.
After a few minutes of driving; thanks to the lack of traffic jam, she pulled up in front of a school, children clutched onto their parents' hands saying or demanding one thing or the other, the parents listened with a smile on their face, occasionally nodding their head or saying a few words to them, the usual quiet atmosphere of the school became a noisy one. She smiled warmly at the sight and proceeded to find a spot to park her car.
As soon as she parked, she hopped off and hurriedly started making her way into the school.
"Good day Miss West" a petite girl with blonde hair and cute glasses, greeted as soon as she sighted Amanda.
"Hey Julie, Good day. How was the day?" Amanda asked, leaning on the receptionist's table where the girl was seated.
"It was nice, thank you. I heard you're having a new exhibition soon, I can't wait for it! I'm already saving up to buy a few, the last exhibition was..." The girl rambled off, making Amanda sigh.
She let the girl ramble on for a few more seconds before she interrupted her "that's good to know Julie, thank you. I'll have to get going now tho, until next time." and without waiting for her to say another word, she rushed off.
"Cons of being friendly and popular" she muttered underneath her breath as she sped walked to her brother's classroom.
She peeped in through the window as soon as she got close to the classroom to see what her brother was up to and as always he just sat there, Reading!
"Does he even have friends?" She asked with an eye roll and walked into the classroom, meeting eyes with the teacher as soon as she stepped in, "Good day Miss Autumn"
"Good day Miss West, here to pick up Jonathan?" She asked with a warm smile, and it took everything in Amanda to not roll her eyes and say something sarcastic.
"Yeah," the woman nodded and made to call for Jonathan, but the little boy was already standing beside Amanda with his school bag ready to leave.
"Alright then Miss Autumn, I'll see you tomorrow" she held Johnathan's hand and smiled at him, making the boy smile in return as they both left the classroom together.

Dressed in shorts and a large T-shirt, Amanda quickly made food for herself and her brother as well, she set up the table and dished out the food before walking up to her brother's room to call him out.
"Knock knock, can I come in?" She said loudly, even tho she already opened the door halfway.
Jonathan looked up at her from the book on his lap and rolled his eyes "You are already in, Manda" he said with a bored expression.
"Hey! Don't sass me," she said, one hand on her waist and the other pointing at her brother who already closed the book he was reading.
"Yeah yeah," he said dismissively and Amanda shook her head at him.
"Food is ready, common let's go and you can tell me all about school" she suggested and he sighed, but stood up anyway.
The both of them walked to the dining room and plopped down on their chairs, without wasting time Amanda dug into her food but her hand was immediately slapped away by Jonathan who was giving her a pointed look.
"Ow! What was that for?" She whined, cradling her hand to her chest.
"Pray" came his short reply as he closed his eyes and said a short prayer before he started eating.
"You know, I'm the one raising you and not the other way round," she said, pointing her spoon at him.
"Are you sure?" He asked, and looked at her for a brief second and Amanda's eyes widened in shock.
"You did not just ask me that!" She shouted, but he ignored her and continued eating his food. When she realized she wasn't getting any answer she huffed and went back to her food.
Amanda stood up from the couch she was sitting on with Jonathan after their meal "Hey, I'll be in my room. Call me if you need anything and please make sure you are in bed before 10 pm" she said, and he nodded without taking his eyes from the TV.
She stared at him for a little longer before she walked into her room and opened up her laptop, she went straight to her email and was met with tons of designs from the design team.
Sighing, she opened up the email and started going through them but she couldn't seem to concentrate. Her mind kept wandering back to her meeting with Alan earlier "concentrate, Amanda, concentrate" she muttered to herself but after a few more minutes of trying, she gave up.
"I should at least know a lot more about the person I'm going up against" muttering to herself, she typed in Alan Weasley into the G****e search bar and a lot of links popped up.
She took her time going through every single one of them, by the time she was done she still had little to no information on him.
G****e barely had anything to say about him apart from the common knowledge she has, he kept himself away from the media by projecting his company as the focus instead of himself.
The only extra information she got from all the searches is that he is "allegedly" gay, because he has never been seen with a woman. She released a deep breath and laid down on her bed "Andrew, wherever you are just come out and clean your mess. Please God help me out" she prayed silently.
Her life has been peaceful and quiet these past years, and she will be damned if she lets her brother ruin it because of his irresponsibility that has nothing to do with her.
She was still lost in her mind when her phone started ringing, she rushed over to it and picked it up "Oliver Romans" displayed on the caller ID and without wasting time she answered.
"Hello?" She said in a low tone.
"Good evening Miss West, it's about what you asked me to do earlier," he said and her heart picked up its pace in anticipation.
"Yes?" She said, her voice coming out hoarse.
"I couldn't find anything about him"
Her vision went black for a second as she took in the information, her palms getting sweaty "what did you just say?"
"I've been on it since afternoon, but I couldn't find anything. I'm sorry" he apologized, and Amanda sucked in a deep breath. She doesn't need his apology.
She remained quiet for a while, her mind running round in circles before she released a deep breath "Tell Miss Maya to report to my office tomorrow morning" she ordered and ended the call.
She will be damned if she agrees to pay for something she didn't partake in, and if he wants to take legal action she might as well beat him to it.
Alan twirled around on his chair, laughing and cancelling things out from the script in his hand. His eyes scanned through a line and he twirled back to face his desk, picking up the land phone he dialled a number and on the third ring the person picked up "Miss Malia, speaking sir" "Ah Malia, Your team wrote the script for the new fantasy series, right?" He asked, still reading through the script "Yes sir" Malia confirmed. "That's sad cause I expected better, lots of plot holes and.." He paused and took a deep breath "just come and take it Malia, I made some corrections and added some ideas. Fix it up" he finished and dropped the script. A few minutes later, someone knocked and as he was about to say come in the person walked in. He raised his eyebrow and a smile appeared on his face. A dark-skinned man in his late twenties walked in, dressed in a black joggers and black hoodies with a black cap; that's covering half of his face, leav
Alan stepped out of his car and took deep breaths as he stood before the large law firm his lawyer owns. "Sir, should I wait for you?" His driver asked, with his head poked out the window a little. He turned towards him and nodded "yes please, it'll be a quick meeting" the old beared chauffer nodded before putting his head back into the car, and driving off to the garage. Alan turned on his heels and entered the firm, he exchanged quick pleasantries with the lawyers that were seated in their office cube as he walked to his lawyer's office, and when he got to her office, he knocked and without waiting for permission to enter, he strode into the office. A Latino woman dressed in a black suit sat there, with her hair stopping a little below her shoulders, her eyes covered by glasses as she went through the files in her hand "do you ever wait for permission before barging in?" She asked, slowly raising her face to look at Alan who just rolled his eyes in
"Hey!" She called out from the car, making Jonathan halt and turn towards her "have a good day!" She said, and a grin appeared on the boy's face. "Thank you! Have a nice day too!" He said and ran off. Amanda sat there looking at his retreating figure till she was sure he was inside the school before she sighed and started her car again. Dropping him off is like meditation for her, it makes her feel more relaxed and clear-headed, Knowing he is safe while she's working, but today it's just not working. She just couldn't seem to shake off the fact that she is about to charge Alan Weasley to court. Shaking her head, she discarded the thoughts and started driving out of the garage when she caught sight of something, or rather someone. She immediately stopped and her mouth dropped open, her eyes widened in shock and fear as she stared at the person through the side mirror, and her hands tightened on the steering wheel. "It can't be" she mutt
"Good morning" Amanda greeted, sitting on her usual seat at the conference room with Alan seated beside her. A chorus of good morning's immediately erupted from the audience, wondering why their boss called for them so early in the morning and most importantly, why Alan Weasley is seated beside her. Amanda looked at the faces of her workers and sighed at the curiosity plastered on them "I know you all are wondering why I called you here, so without wasting much of your time I'll get to the point" she started, and everyone immediately straightened their back, their ears twitching for the information "Mr. Alan Weasley will be joining our company as the new shareholder" she stated, and the room became silent. Alan looked around the room, amusement laced his eyes as he watched the way they took the news. Each person was glancing at the other with shock, speaking to each other with their eyes. He managed to drag his gaze away from them and turned towards Amanda, w
The phone ringing loudly on the table beside the bed woke Alan from his slumber, he slowly opened his eyes as the phone kept ringing. He grunted as he stretched out his hand to pick up the phone, but it stopped ringing the moment he took the phone and he grumbled. He was about to toss the phone aside when it started ringing again, he looked at the caller ID and it was Mark and he immediately picked up the call "you better be dying" he said the moment he picked up the phone."I'm not, but I will be if you don't help" he rushed out, sounding out of breath "I asked Malia out and I don't know what I'm supposed to do"Alan sighed in frustration and sat up on the bed "give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now" he grumbled on the phone and the line went quiet "you have only 10 seconds to speak""You shouldn't kill me because I finally grew the balls to ask Malia out on a da
He strode into the set making everyone turn their attention towards him, he gave them a smile and a small nod as he walked over to where the director was sitting "Hey Gerald, how is it going?"The young man that was sitting and looking at the scene that was just acted out through the screen, yelped, startled by the sudden intrusion. He turned and when he saw the person behind it, his face morphed into a scowl "that wasn't funny Alan" he said, and turned back to the screen he was looking at previously.Alan chuckled and bent down to look at the screen "it was funny Gerald, you are just a bitter old man" he taunted, not moving his face from the screen "what is this?" He asked, after watching the scene. A look of disgust plastered on his face."It is the ad for the deal we recently got" he stated while looking at the screen, his eyebrows furrowed as he stared at it "Something is wrong with it, but I just can't seem to place m
Two weeks later The entire company was bubbling with people that morning, everyone was running around trying to put everything together for the exhibition that is less than 42 hours away. Amanda walked into the company, put together as always but unlike every other day her hair wasn't left to flow freely on her shoulders but instead was put in a bun, and the usual smile on her face was replaced with a frown. Her stress level went up since the exhibition drew closer and closer, she was paranoid feeling like something or worse still everything will go wrong. She got to her office and sat down, taking deep breaths to calm herself down "get it together lady, this isn't your first exhibition neither will it be your last so get it together" she pep talked to herself, forcing herself to smile to get rid of the negativity in her head. When she finally got it together, she picked up the landlin
"You know for someone that seems so calm and collected, you do freak out a lot!?" Alan said, walking behind a stressed-out Amanda who is biting her tongue to not snap at him. "I mean a whole lot! Like, I look at you and I'm like how does she manage to hide it so well?" He asked again, but when he saw it wasn't getting any effect he paused. "Oh common! Bring back my angry best friend!" He whined, pouting like a child. She paused on the table she was supervising to make sure everything is alright, turning towards him she gave him a very deadly glare which made his pout turn into a childish grin "in case you haven't noticed Mr. Weasley, I'm busy, and I'll appreciate it if you give me some space before I smack you" she warned; speaking with clenched teeth. He just widened his grin and nodded, which just frustrated Amanda even more. She rolled her eyes and went back to supervising the hall, and was utterly grateful when she

Amanda slowly opened her eyes with a beautiful smile gracing her face, she stretched out her hands to touch Alan but she only felt the warmness of the sheet and a sigh left her lips knowing he just got up. She stood up and stretched lightly as she did, her smile widened even more when she heard him laughing downstairs with their child. She couldn't believe how much the years have passed and how things have changed, little teardrops made way to her face as she remembered how much her life has changed within 5 years. *~ 5 years ago ~**The moment she got to Morgan's law firm, she parked hurriedly and stepped out of the car ready to run to her office but met her standing by the firm's door with a huge file on her hand and beside her stood a worried Alan, who kept darting his eyes around searching for something or rather someone because the moment he set eyes on her, she could see the relief wash through his face.*
Amanda strode into her company with a casual smile on her face, she couldn't remember the last time she was in there, and the shocked look and calculative stares of her employees made her nervous. Her smile never wavered as she confidently walked into her private elevator, the moment the doors closed she took a deep breath to calm her nerves, avoiding people for over a month has clearly done more harm than good. The elevator opened to reveal Oliver standing there in a suit with his tablet and a cup of coffee in his hand, a welcoming smile graced his face the moment he set eyes on Amanda "Welcome back, ma'am" She smiled back at him and nodded, "Thank you, Oliver" she said and took the cup from him, "shall we?" She asked and with a nod from him, they started walking to her office while he briefed her about the things he forgot to add in the email he sent last night. "Thank you for handling this company while I was away, you've done so well." She said gr
Alan sat rigidly on the sofa, his eyes would occasionally dart towards the stairs and each time a sigh would leave his lips when he doesn't see her coming down. He couldn't tell if it was a sigh of relief or nervousness, he doesn't know if he wants her to come down now or wait a little longer and the worst part, he hasn't figured out how to tell her."Calm down Alan, calm down" he muttered to himself and rested his head against the sofa as he continuously took deep breaths, after a while, he managed to relax and calm his fast heartbeat, but before he could fully relax, he heard footsteps approaching and his heartbeat skyrocketed again and he immediately sat up.He gulped nervously as his eyes took in the woman standing before him, she looked stunning even tho she was dressed in a very big oversized hoodie with tights, and her hair was wrapped up in a towel. He dragged his eyes from her legs and with great difficulty rested them on her face that was radiating with a smi
"What the fuck do you both think you are doing here?" Amanda spat out as soon as Andrew and Alice were close enough, she instinctively stood in front of Jonathan to keep them from seeing his coffin."That's not a nice way to welcome your elders!" Andrew said with a stern look on his face and a scoff left Amanda's lips. His features softened a little when he managed to catch a glimpse of Jonathan's coffin despite Amanda's attempt to block his view, but there was no trace of remorse or sadness in his face as he stared at it "I'm here to pay my last respects to my brother" he stated, turning back to Amanda and staring into her eyes.Amanda stared at him in confusion for a while before a low chuckle escaped her lips, "you!" She shouted, shoving her index fingers into his chest "you! You want to pay your last respect to him?" She pointed her fingers back at Jonathan's coffin, her face contorted in pain and anger "the same boy you killed?!" She
COUPLE WEEKS LATERAlan's eyes rested on Amanda as the mass for Jonathan was being carried out, her face was devoid of any emotion but if you look close enough, you could see her clenching and unclenching her fists, she would occasionally blink away the tears or bite her lips to hold back a sob.A deep sigh left Alan's lips and he moved away from where he was standing and went over to her, he softly grasped her hand in his without saying anything. She immediately looked up at him, surprised by the grand gesture because they barely had a proper conversation in the past two weeks. He could tell what the look on her face implied but he discarded it and mouthed "it's going to be okay", tears welled up in her eyes as he said that, but she nodded and tightened her grip on him before turning back to face the coffin and the priest leading the mass.A surge of gratitude washed through Amanda even tho she didn't say it out loud, she spent all week wondering how she
Amanda submerged herself fully inside the bath, hoping she will suffocate but seconds turned into minutes and she immediately pulled her head out of the water. She started coughing hysterically and hitting her chest repeatedly, her coughs suddenly turned into cries and she began mumbling apologies "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.. I'm so so sorry" she kept mumbling as tears streamed down her face.Disgust crawled up her skin at the thoughts she had, her skin suddenly felt too tight and she wanted to claw it out. She couldn't believe she wanted to end the life that her brother, her brother that hasn't even lived a quarter of his life sacrificed for her to have, she let herself cry for a few more minutes and continuously mumbled apologies before she slowly wiped them away."I promise to avenge your death with the last drop of my blood, Jonathan" she mumbled with bitterness dripping in her voice, her pain was now replaced with anger, resentment, bitterness, and need
Amanda laid on the bed, surrounded by darkness courtesy of the curtains that haven't been opened in a week, she was trying to force herself back to sleep like she has been doing the past week when a loud knock came on the door. She groaned and covered herself with the duvet to block the noise out till it stops, it always does, in 5 to 10 minutes it will eventually stop and she will be left alone again. She laid in that position unmoving waiting for the sounds of loud knocking to be drowned out by the silence she has grown comfortable with, but the time went from 5 minutes to 10 to 20, yet the knocks didn't stop coming. This made her slowly sit up in the bed, "please leave me alone" she muttered weekly, praying the knocks will stop coming and the memories pushing at the gates of her mind will disappear, but none happened.Sighing, she laid her head against the headboard and pushed Jonathan's plushie closer to her chest, and squeezed her eyes shut as she tried to dro
"He's getting discharged today. Congratulations on recovering fully, Mr. Weasley" the doctor said with a smile on his face, but Alan just stared blankly at him. The smile on the doctor's face just doesn't make any sense to him, why is he so happy? Why is he being congratulated? Should he be happy that his body is whole but his memories aren't? Is he even allowed to be happy when the boy he came in here with, is dead?. He let out a breath and clutched his chest in pain as he remembered the broken look on Amanda's face as she watched her brother's corpse get wheeled away. Tears threatened to fall from his eyes, and he immediately squeezed them shut. "Alan..." Adilah called out shakily as she took slow steps towards him, "it isn't your fault, I swear" she repeated the words she has been saying for over a week now. Her eyes glazed over him, filled with pity and sadness, she couldn't bear to see her brother beating himself up for something he didn't do. Si
