Chapter 37. Caught Off Guard.

"Listen, Maria. This is a huge. Can you double the fee?" Urgency laced the male voice from the other end of the line.

"Huh?" Maria responded, caught off guard.

"I need you to double the fee," he repeated, sounding slightly annoyed.

"Fine, just tell me already," she scoffed, trying to appear nonchalant. Deep down, however, she was desperate for the news. She had been keeping tabs on Andrea all these years, but from a distance. She didn't dare to get too close, knowing she was a wanted criminal.

"Lucia has got something going with Andrea,” he revealed.

"What?”Celine retorted, making her way to the table where a bottle of scotch sat. She picked it up and held the phone between her shoulder and ear, bending her head to secure it in place.
