Luke glanced at the woman’s name tag to reveal it was Mary.
He looked back to her face and offered her a smile.
Which, he could tell had taken her back a bit.
Because his reputation was known for the opposite.
With his emotionless face.
Or his stern look and fierce eyes.
‘W-what can I get you, Sir?’ She asked, stuttering.
His smile clearly affected her more than he realized.
He felt sorry for her.
‘A strong black coffee with,’ he paused to think what Vera would have. ‘A toasted piece of banana bread.’ Luke said.
‘Would that be here or take away, sir?’
Luke was going to just take the order and leave.
But then, he thought that Vera would sit in the corner of the Café, looking out the window while sipping her coffee.
So, that was what he was going to do.
‘I’ll have it here.’ Luke tells her.
This made Mary
Vera enjoyed the book. And in no time she was up to the third chapter.Vera stopped to go to the bathroom and to have the snack that Luke had ordered her.She didn’t ask him to.But she appreciated it, anyway.
Luke didn’t stay long.Just long enough to have his coffee and then he left.He didn’t read Vera’s book.Because she didn’t say that he could. And he respected her privacy.
Luke drove to the twin's preschool. He hopped out of the car and rushed to Vera’s side.He opened her door and offered Vera his hand.Vera took Luke’s hand with a smile. It made Luke squeeze his hand ever so slightly.
Luke drove all the way across town to the biggest Mall.He was going to spoil his family. He parked in the underground carpark. And then they all walked into the mall, all holding hands. This was very exciting for the twins.
Vera was in her element. She loved her books. She had already hand five books in her arms. She should stop there. But Luke wasn’t back yet, so she kept on looking.
The family of four enjoyed their dinner. There was a happy vibe around them. And once they had their pizza and their Sundays and milkshake, it was time to go home. The time was getting late. When Luke arrived home, he found his family to all be asleep. It made him feel a little flutter in his chest. He quietly hopped out of the car and quietly called for some service. Two of his servants, came rushing out asking, what they could do for him.Luke instructed that they take his children first and then come back to get the shopping. They nodded saying, yes master and then rushed to the children’s sides.Luke then went to his Vera side and quietly opened the door.He then slowly lent across her, to unclip the seat belt.He watched for any sudden movements; Vera may have.He didn’t want her freaking out that he was too close. But for now, Vera didn’t stir. So, Luke ge
It made Vera very happy that she was able to drop her children at school.Five years ago, even just last week, Vera didn’t think this was something that she would be doing.See five years ago, she signed her rights away as a mother. She thought about her child every day not knowing that she had actually given birth to twins. And now that she has gotten to know her children, she wasn’t going to forgive herself for leaving her children. But now she had the chance to raise her children. And she was going to cherish them for as long as she was alive. She was also going to cherish that moment, where she cold be a mother and drop her children off at school, for the rest of her life.Vera drove straight to work then. Her first stop was the Cafe, on the ground floor. She brought her chocolate milkshake and a piece of banana bread.Once her order was given to her, she made her way upstairs. She wa
Vera rushed to the lift and impatiently pressed the lifts button. She just wanted to leave. She didn’t cry.No, she would do that later. She had already made a fool out of herself enough. The lift was taking too long.Vera thought about taking the stairs. But there was just way too many and she wasn’t a hundred percent yet.Vera then thought, where was Luke. She expected him to rush after her.She had seen him step out of his office and he had looked pissed.Maybe he was pissed at her. She thought. It would be a first. After all, she had slapped and then punched one of his employees. She thought, it was probably for the best.Maybe, this would make both Luke and Vera to take a step back and just remain friends.Vera couldn’t run away, what she does best, because she didn’t just have herself to think about now.She had a son and a daughter now
