Jonathan was unwilling to let go of both of his daughters at the same time. He wanted to let them go one at a time, giving him some buffer time.

"Hmph!" Shirley understood what he meant, and she simply threatened, "I'll go find Cynthia."

Jonathan sighed, knowing Shirley was banking on the fact that he would listen to Cynthia.

"When Mom was alive, Mom was in charge. When Mom passed away, Cynthia had the final say." Shirley understood their family dynamics well, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "But Cynthia loves and cares for me and agrees to all my requests. In other words, I'm in charge now."

"Aren't you getting a little full of yourself, huh?" Jonathan felt that Shirley was getting courageous.
