Trevor froze for a moment. He quietly said, "Those roses have been there a long time. Their roots are deep. It's hard to get rid of them. It's not worth all the work."

"Okay, I'll tell Mom and Dad."

"Sounds good. Let them know."

After hanging up, Trevor quickly looked at some papers again before setting them aside.

Trevor and his mom had planted those roses together.

The roses had bloomed and faded over the years. But now, his mom couldn't see them anymore.

Stella was in a chair, half-asleep and looking worn out.

She woke up when Keegan entered.

Stella stood up, grabbed her jacket, and left with him.

They didn't talk until they got in the car. "Where were you really last night?" Keegan asked.

"I was with Mr. Saun. Didn't you hear?"

"Do you know how good the police's cameras are?" Keegan asked.
