Xavier's POV I ran towards Almyra as her eyes slowly closed shut, she was on the verge of collapsing. Gina supported her and placed her head on her shoulder but Almyra was just too weak. "Almyra, no! Don't pass out!" I exclaimed, and I felt panic rising in my voice. I dropped to my knees and cradled her head in my lap. Her eyes met mine and it was filled with worry, pain and love. Her face had become pale and she was almost unconscious. Her breathing was almost stiff and her pulse was weak as a fragile leaf. Her eyelids fluttered, threatening to close forever. Xavier's POV, My thoughts swiftly drifted to when I was about to get married to Almyra, it was winter at that time and the snowflakes gently fell onto the frozen lake, casting a serene silence over the landscape. Had it been I treated her well during her time of stay would things end up in a different way? I remembered Almyra's smile, radiant as she glided across the ice, her hand intertwined with mine. I remembered the way we would sit close to the fire and watch it crackle in the hearth, casting a warm glow on our faces as we sipped hot cocoa, we'd easily get lost in each other's eyes and the world outside would melt away, leaving only the gentle flicker of flames and the soft whisper of our laughter. Xavier's POV, "Did you think it's fine for me to go in now?" I closed the curtain and looked at Gina with a confused face. "I mean it's too early." "You are just scared Xavi," she teased. "Do you even have any idea what would have happened to me if she hadn't showed up when she did?" I scoffed. "You did not tell me a thing about what was happening between you and your psycho boyfriend," the look on my face was telling. "So how do you expect me to know about it. I mean not like I'm some kind of detective." "You had a lot on your plate at that point in time Xavi," she flushed her hair behind her and approached me. "I guess you still do." Xavier's POV, I was jolted out of my thoughts and I drifted my gaze towards Gina who seemed to be angry at the moment. "Hey what's up with you?" I approached her hurriedly, my shoes made loud sounds. "It's not bad news right?" She crossed her arms across her chest defensively, "No!" She exclaimed loudly. "That's so great to hear," a sigh of relief escaped my mouth. "You scared the hell outta me, just in case you don't know." I sat down on the chair, face up. "Almyra's fine," she paused. "But she's yet to wake up. She will be up in five minutes." "She would be fine Gina, trust me she would be fine ane everything would return to normal okay?" I had a reassuring look on my face. "You need to be there when she wakes up Xavier, you need to." She uttered, her voice was barely above a whisper. "Yeah, I would be there in a while, trust me." I checked my wristwatch. I was still feeling pains from the critical hits I took from Chris. Almyra's POV, My eyes fluttered open slowly, my head was still aching me as I laid there, on the bed. My visions were still blurry, someone's face was above mine but it was not yet clear. I blinked multiple times before I saw whose face it was, it was Xavier's. "Hey." I groaned weakly, my vision was now getting clear. "Hey." Gina's voice softened, her face swimming into focus above me. "Welcome back. How are you feeling?" I blinked, assessing my surroundings. The room's fluorescent lights still hummed overhead, but my gaze now locked onto Gina's concerned expression. "My head..." I muttered, gingerly touching my forehead. A dull ache throbbed, echoing the confusion in my mind. Gina and Xavier helped me sit up, their hands supporting my back. "Easy, take your time. You passed out for an hour or more." Passed out? Almyra's POV, "Yeah, I know it does but what are you trying to say?" My furrowed eyebrow showed confusion. Honestly, I don't understand a single thing she's saying. "It's a really long one Almyra, it's a long one." Gina tilted her head, unsure. "A really long story? Yeah, I know everyone has their stories Gina, so just spill the word out." I groaned weakly. Gina's face was like she was gonna take those words to her grave, I was never eager to hear something else the way I was to hear hers. "The story is not about me alone Almyra, it's not." Almyra's POV, "I don't know about it yet but you should tell me." A sigh escaped my lips. She was gonna talk after all. "Yes," she was hesitant. "Yes, that's what I wanna tell you." Gina had a look on her face that left me lost in thought, why was this so difficult for her to tell me? "Gina, you've said this about a million times and still, you are yet to say what I wanna hear." I paused to catch my breath. "Just go straight to the point and stop beating around the bush." I sounded frustrated, she was keeping me in deep suspense and I already had enough of it. Almyra's POV, "Wow, then I guess we still have a long way to go." I said, my voice was laced with sarcasm. "Yeah, I guess there's more you need to know." Gina's voice was still trembling. "The only reason why I swapped Kitara's drink with yours was all because I saw it that Night that Xavier had interest in you." Her voice was barely above a whisper but confident.
