Xavier's POV
Almyra was here! I could almost smell and feel her, but she wasn't with me! Kitara desperately tried to cling to my arm as we walked out of the bathroom, but I was too focused on the man Almyra had locked her hands with. The only problem was that he wasn't me, and I so desperately longed to tear him away from her. My mom kept throwing snide remarks as we sat down, and she mentioned a name that stuck: The Stone Triplets. I couldn't help but wonder how she knew those boys who frequented the news daily. I watched as she laughed at what her escort said before rubbing her hand over his arm. My blood boiled as I fumed at the sight of them that way—not just my blood boiling but also my heart growing heavy with annoyance. She belonged beside me. "Your ex-wife seems to have hit the jackpot because her necklace was at the last auction I attended and sold for five million dollars," Mom said, eyeing her with nothing but malice. I wondered who this Almyra was. From where did her sudden decision to leave me come? The money she returned to me was worse but tripled the amount. She was already really either well-to-do or not. No! It was unlike Almyra. I refused to believe that Almyra was like that. For the past three years, we had been still married, and even though I hadn't been mostly around, I had slightly observed her to be quite timid and reserved. She had no friends, nor did she have to give anyone a listening ear when she went out. I gave her everything a woman wanted: money and freedom, but her request for a divorce still surprised me every time. The thought never crossed my mind. "That foolish girl!" Kitara's voice snapped me from my thoughts. Seeing as she had my attention, she continued, "Don't try to mind her, Xavier. She's shameless! I can't believe she left you for that guy for the sake of money! She's so desperate, and God knows how much I hate desperate people!" Her words struck me, and I asked, "He's the one she is with now? " "Damn right!" Kitara replied as she went on, "There's no way the Stone brothers would notice someone like her at all, so she must have traded her body to them. Rumor has it that she is in a physical relationship with the man that just took her away.. as well as the brothers, probably..." I was stunned. Was Almyra capable of this? A few minutes ago, I couldn't believe I didn't know what to say in front of her. After all this time, I didn't know how else to begin my conversation with Almyra, which surprised me. A confident CEO of one of the most prestigious companies in the city and almost the entire country, a highly regarded individual like myself shuddered in the presence of this girl. For the first time, I felt defeated by myself, and for the first time, I felt unsure of what to say or how to act. Whatever the effect Almyra left on me was starting to feel uncanny. After observing the man and her in front of me, like a fool I never envisioned myself to become, I had thought of the only thing to say: to ask who the man was. I didn't know what suddenly came over me, but I could feel a sudden sense of possessiveness washing over me. My gaze moved over to where they giggled like teenagers, and for some reason, it seemed to rile the hell out of me. I also badly wanted to know who this guy was for Almyra, who had doted on me to leave me for him. I guess it was clear that maybe Almyra had stooped so low this time and had become desperate and crazy for money. "I can't believe she got the nerve to do this to me.." I finally blurted out. "Xavier, it's alright..." "Yes, son, you staring there is aiding her to embarrass you. Almost everyone knows you were married, but its almost as though she wanted to prove a stupid point." "Mom is rightm She is doing this to embarrass you." Kitara added trying to soothe me: "The good thing is that she's gone out of your life and wouldn't burden you anymore, right?" After hearing her words, I didn't pass any more comments. My heart tugged with a weird emotion.I admit I didn't appreciate her presence back then, but after her departure, she left this void in my heart.
A lonely feeling slowly crept in, and even though many people could surround me, the only thing that seemed to have my attention was her.
I missed her calls, which I had once thought to be a bother. Worse still, I could see her everywhere, welcoming my cold self and ignoring the cold shoulders she always received. I heard her laughter from the kitchen, watched her read in the library, and watched me sleep when she thought I was asleep.
What was happening to me?
"By the way, where have you two been?" Mom sudeenly asked, but I shook my head so Kitara could shut up.
"It's nothing, mom. "I replied calmly.Thankfully, The event started progressing further as the bidding time finally approached.
"Good evening, astounding ladies and wonderful gentlemen.." the bidder started at the stage where he was. He continued, "So this event, as stated in the invitation, is to help gather money for the helping of many unfortunate lives out there. We've got acceptable items for you all to bid and buy according to your liking. Then, through this, we can raise the money for the support we're about to offer to many people's lives!" "I hope you support us also, and let the bidding begin." The hall erupted into clapping and cheering as items were brought to display and the bidding process began. Many businessmen and women also started making choices and bidding for items they liked. However, my attention was weirdly drawn to Almyra instead. Unfortunately, she spared me no glance as she focused on the event itself, causing me to feel annoyed with myself as I also tried to focus but it just wasn't working, at least not when men surrounded her!" "And for the ladies, particularly this time!" the bidder said, now displaying an elegant plush handbag."This vintage handbag was imported just today from London! You can see its sleek silk and the fine designs embroidered on it. Huh... huh... this indeed is beautiful, am I right, ladies?" he said in his enticing tone as the bidding continued. I felt someone nudging me as I turned to Kitara, whose face was fixed on the handbag. "Xavier, isn't that beautiful? I want to get it!" she stated with a dreamy expression. "Well, go ahead if you want it; just do what you want to do.." I said with a shrug so she could let me be. Kitara was about to bid when Almyra made her bid coincidentally at the same moment, surprising me."$5000".
Almyra's POVI was waiting!Keeping an eye of Kitara was quite harder seeing as we were sitting together but rather Our seat was in front so I set up Keiran."Do I really have to?"Kieth joked about how he wouldnt want the press to think his elder sister was able to pish hum around causinf his scowl to grow."Or would you raher have me there...pleae it's just until she wants somehing" i pleaded and he just groaned which was enough answer for me.Kitara had frustrated me till I left. This was just a way to tease her.The vintage handbag was beautiful and as soon as Keith mumbed that she had whispered to Xavier, I placed my bid. She was no fool so she should have decoded by now that I was purposefully buying the bag, just to get on her nerves and comparing this to all she had done to meover the years, it was just the tip of the iceberg."$15,000." She threw back. "$15,000 going.. going.." the bidder said enticingly. I chuckled, was that all she got? I went on, "$40,000!" "Wow! $40,0
Xavier's POV I vividly recalled a situation where Almyra had told me of her love for paintings. Even though I had snubbishly paid none of my attention towards her as always, I also found myself recalling all moments she herself would always initiate when we were still together. I didn't know why but for some reason, I felt the sudden urge to get her the painting, especially when I found the enthusiasm that shone brightly in her eyes as she talked with the man beside her. My blood boiled seeing them in that manner and I couldn't help but feel real jealous. As if fate had planned to do me dirty, the same man had begun to bid against me. Funny was when he had actually outbid me, which I let out a chuckle for. Of course, I have the money but if making her happy all around with herself for actually winning, plus, the item was hers anyway, making it the main reasons I hadn't continued the bidding too intense. The program was starting to come to an end as the bidder said, "Alrig
Xavier's POV Kitara and I stared at each other in utter disbelief.. From where had all these begin? Had I been so uninterested in my wife's life that I missed a lot happening with her? Our shocked state were interrupted as the door pushed opened and someone walked in. Immediately, I had rose from my seat and my sight traveled to the short entrance hall of the office as I expected the face of Almyra as the one that had walked in. However, "Good evening, everyone.", when the lady whose voice echoed and had marched further into the room, the light in my eyes dimmed with disappointment as she was not any where like the Almyra I so badly wanted to talk to. I frowned, a puzzled expression growing on my face.Who was this now and where the hell was Almyra Stone? Where was my wife? The lady continued, "Um, I'm sorry but Miss Stone won't be available for any visitors right now as she is very tired from having attended the fundraiser.""Miss. Almyra sends her apology however and specifical
Almyra's POV I was just getting done with one of my important works when the door was pushed open and my pa walked into the office. He reached closer as he informed, saying, "Sorry for the disturbance, ma'am, someone is here to see you." "Who?" I asked even though I was aware it was Xavier as my secretary had informed me of his coming to the company. "Ma'am, your meeting with Mr Farrell, he's the one that had come to meet you.." Jane my secretary, who stood patiently behind me was the one who spoke next in a calm tone. "Oh.." I only said, gazing at the document then gestured with the flickering of my fingers and the nodding of my head, "Let him in." Just as he reached out to open the door, "Xavier," I heard Kitara's voice rang from the other side. The man finally opened the door as I found Xavier looking at his side in the direction where Kitara was.. In a second, she was by his side, as she looked at him with a smile yet a serious gaze. She muttered something to him which un
Xavier's POVHow dare she? I walked out of her office, seething with anger as the security escorted us outside the building on the strict order of Almyra! The humiliation! My mood darkened further in displeasure, as I reached the parking lot, when I finally took notice of the person following me aside from my secretary. "The nerve of that girl, Almyra! I'm going to teach her a lesson!" She cursed angrily. "Kitara, no!" I interjected and with a firm warning, I continued, "You will stay out of Almyra's way.. " She stared at me, surprised flashed in her eyes as she gasped, "What?" "You heard me. "I replied, nodding my head simply, now looking unenthusiastic to even tolerate anyone at the moment. The only thing that seemed to resonate with me at the moment was Almyra. And I was either bothered about her or wishing to make amends with her! "If you know what's good for you, just stay away, okay?" I added lastly and turned around, continuing my walk towards my car. I felt her
Almyra's POVDespite trying my very best to not bother myself with anything concerning Xavier, I couldn't help but get moodier and moodier by the seconds. My heart shattered as I realized again that he had never been a good guy to me. Even not so long ago, after the huge disagreement unfolds, I could see his leniency towards Kitara. But then his annoyance with me when I had casted them out of my office, deeply enraged the hell out of me! How could he?Just then, the door open and Malum walked in. He paused, finding the sad look in my eyes as he drew closer to me immediately,"What's wrong?" He asked, leaning on the table, the space beside me. His concerns for me were indeed evident. I sighed and informed, "They showed up.." "So?" He urged me to keep narrating.as I went on anyway, "He is still the same jerk as usual, lenient with Kitara and aggressive towards me. " I found myself breaking down as tears filled my eyes and my sight becoming quite blurry with the water that had gath
Xavier's POV"She had an accident?" I exclaimed, still overcome by surprise. My talk with my driver still continued however. Ben went on, sitting behind the steering wheel as he drove me back home, "Yes, Mr. Farrell. The night the accident occurred, she begged for your presence and I had also informed you that I wasn't healthy enough at that moment, expecting you'd be there for your wife. However unfortunately, you had chosen to take Miss Anderson out of the country for her last surgery instead. No offense but Miss Anderson already has your mom ready to take care of her, Miss Stone on the other hand needed you but you never showed up. "He said and I felt unbelievably shocked than ever. "Your relationship with Miss Stone was cool at first, everything was alright but then your attitude changed the moment she lost her baby. It was as if you wanted her just for the baby and only seemed to wanting to blame her constantly for losing it !" Ben seemed interested in continuing and
Almyra's POV,"Xavier.." I called out in my intoxicated state as I realized the face of the person who had caught me was a stranger. I felt a sharp pang in my chest as I slowly straightened myself and quickly withdrew away from the man's hold. My gaze wandered everywhere else in the place I was, not sparing a single glance at the person before me while I searched for Xavier. I was sure it was him I sighted.. or had my brain and vision decided to play tricks on me?"Hello.." the stranger muttered as he waved his hand to get my attention, which I think worked as I stared at him this time. However, in the next few seconds, my attention drifted to my thoughts as more questions ran through my mind. My Feelings for Xavier were beginning to get out of hand, and I knew could one day be the ruin of me. I was so caught up in my thoughts about him that I hadn't realized walking away from the man who had saved me from my fall and didn't give a thank you. But by the time I realized, I was i
ALMYRA'S POV. The breaking news of the day was: Hilda Farell dead after judgment was passed and Kitara Anderson sentenced to life imprisonment. "Whoops," a soft exhale escaped my nostrils as I saw Kitara being moved to a prison. That bastard should be sent to alcatraz instead of this prison. She deserves a mashed potato and not normal food. "Stop." I heard a voice beside me immediately I raised my hand to switch off the television. "Hold on." "I don't think you should be seeing this," I turned to him but he did not spare me a glance "You already told Gina to visit her yesterday and she went already but I was just too busy to go along with her," I held his hand. For the first time, tears rolled down Xavier's cheek as his gaze was set on the television. A picture of a rope used for hanging was shown in Hilda's part and Kitara's part kept replaying. "I still can't believe I did not get to tell her a proper goodbye," Xavier grasped the cloth on the bed tightly
ALMYRA'S POV. I opened the door of Xavier's room and I paused in shock, the room was lit and the curtains were opened, the rays of the sun poured in. "Hey," Xavier winced as he tried sitting up on his bed and Malum rushed towards him to help him up. "So do you still think I'm lying?" Gina's angelic voice could be heard behind me. My mouth was covered with my hands as I kept on gasping in shock, surprise and happiness. "I still can't believe." "Like how? How did it happen?!" I was excited like I had never been before…maybe. Gina pushed me towards him and I made her stop after holding her hand. "Give me a minute." My voice was more of a whisper. "Are you gonna keep me waiting?" Xavier arched an eyebrow and I knew it was still the Xavier I know, the Xavier I loved. "I'm sorry," I dropped my hand down and ran towards Xavier before holding his shoulder and I scanned his body. The spot that he was shot could not be seen since it was bandaged already. I hugged him and he winced
ALMYRA'S POV. Gina walked into the sitting room looking disappointed. "Where were you going to?" I placed my hand on my waist. "At this time of the day." She ran her hand through her hair. "I wanna see my mom." The smile on my face faded immediately I heard what she had just said, I dont think Gina would be fine when Hilda is finally hanged. I'm pretty sure that it would take time for her to accept that her mom's no longer with her or she would not be coming again and she won't get to see her or speak to her again. "Why?" I finally questioned her after she kept on changing the leg that she rested on. I guess she was waiting for my answer.
ALMYRA'S POV. "Are you gonna watch him?" I turned to Malum and he arched an eyebrow. "You do know that she almost killed you right?!" If anyone was asleep, the person would have woken up with the way Malum shouted. I walked slowly to him. "Gina give us a minute please." Gina nodded. "Sure, I would do that." She walked out of the room and shut the door behind her. A loud exhale escaped Malum's nostrils and her placed his hand on his waist. "Almyra you can't talk me out of this." "What if I want to go?" I crossed my hand above my chest and did not even mind the hairs that was partially blocking me from seeing Malum clearly. He clenc
ALMYRA'S POV."What?!""He is still coma ma'am," a nurse said as she held her hand together. "The day of his awakening is still unknown to us also."The tears just rolled down my cheek uncontrollably. "But you said the surgery was successful, am I right?""Yes ma'am," she bent her head low. "But we don't know when he would wake up."The opening sound of the door behind me made me look back and I saw Gina, her eyes seemed like it was on the verge of popping out.She ran towards me and held my hand tightly. "Where's Xavier?!"I was silent and I held her hand back. "He would be fine."Such an irony, I was crying and I'm telling her it would be okay?! Fucking fu
ALMYRA'S POV.The shock on my face could not be compared to that on Hilda's face.Where did he come from?Where was he hiding? Was he waiting to see what Hilda's final action would be?Different types of questions kept on flooding in my head as I looked at his almost lifeless body.I scanned his body for the bullet and my eyes met where the bullet went into, it was his left shoulder.Luck was truly on his side as it did not go into his heart, thank goodness. Hilda's mouth was still opened in shock as the cops came in and surro
Almyra's POV. "Get started with what?" I arched an eyebrow as the sweat dripped down my face, my cloth was soaked already and it made me cold. I just wanted to get out of this place so bad but that is impossible. Hilda really played her cards well and I couldn't still believe that I was so foolish. This was a time to be very cautious but I let my guard down and look where it landed me in…a fucking piece of shit. I could say a ditch actually. If there's any blessihg or miracle that is supposed to happen in the future, I kept on praying inwardly that it should come now. "You asked me to tell you why I fucking dislike every single thing about you right?" She jolted me out of my thoughts amidst gritted teeth. "I hate your breath also." I was not moved, instead I just smiled and she even looked pained the more. She was desperate to see me lifeless, it won't be long before her long wish comes to pass so she should just enjoy every moment because I'm suffering at every tick of the cloc
ALMYRA POV. Shivers went down to my bones immediately she brought out the gun, her were deadly and she could not help but even reveal the hate more and more. "Get started with what?" I said amidst a gritted teeth. "Ain't in for no shit with you." She laughed and I just felt more offended. "Nah, you are not gonna do no shit with me." "It's great that you know," I spoke with confidence but I could swear that I was fucking afraid than when I stood on the top of a tall building at he thirteen. Hilda furrowed her brows and scoffed. "I'm not even sure you would get to leave this place." "What do you mean by—" She cut me short when she raised her palm up. "Oops! I forgot that you would leave this place," she smiled in an evil way. "But in a lifeless body." I swallowed hard and tightened my grip on the chair, the pain from my wrist and ankle was no longer troubling me again. Hilda would not play with this chance, she knows that it's a one in a million chance of killing me and she
Almyra's POV. I opened my eyes but it was still dark and I looked around but I was unable to see a single thing. The veil that was used to cover my head was so black and thick. All I remember was when I got a call from Hilda that she wanted to apologize to me and I can't even believe I thought she actually wanted to apologize. I saw her face immediately I turned back but it was too late for me to even intercept the gun that was sent to my forehead. Ahh! My forehead screamed in pain immediately I remembered how I went unconscious. Hilda has her way of doing things and I could not help but keep questioning myself over and over on why she hates me, but I was fed up already. I won't hesitate to take action from now on. That has to be when I at least escape from this dark place but I can't even see a fucking thing. All I know is that I'm tied to a chair, both my hands and my leg…the only thing I kept on doing was shaking myself off but it was just too tight. "Where the fuck are you H
