As they waited for Chris to arrive, Anne and Tris chatted comfortably in the living room. Tris was curious about the guy Anne had brought home to meet her parents, and she asked Anne how things were going with him.

Anne's expression turned wry. "We're not together anymore," she said. "He turned out to be a total jerk."

Tris's eyes widened in surprise. "What happened?" she asked, leaning in with interest.

Anne shook her head. "He just wasn't genuine. He was only interested in me because of my family's connections, and he didn't even try to hide it."

Tris nodded sympathetically. "I'm so sorry, Anne. You deserve so much better than that."

Anne smiled wryly. "Thanks, Tris. I think I need to be more careful next time."

Tris nodded in agreement. "Definitely. And maybe you should give that guy your parents want you to marry a chance. He might surprise you."

Anne raised an eyebrow. "You think so? I don't know, Tris. He seems so...boring. And he's only interested in me because

As the evening wore on, Anne decided it was time to head home. Tris and Chris walked her to her car, and they waved goodbye as she drove off into the night, leaving the two of them standing alone in the darkness. Chris looked at Tris with concern etched on his face. He wanted to stay with her, to make sure she was okay, but he knew his parents would never approve. His father, especially, would be furious if he found out Chris was spending the night at Tris's house. "I should get going," Chris said reluctantly, not wanting to leave Tris's side. Tris nodded, understanding. "Yeah, you should probably get home." But before Chris left, Tris reached out and took his hand, her eyes looking up at him with a mixture of hope and vulnerability. "Chris, can I ask you something?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Of course, what is it?" Chris replied, his voice soft with concern. Tris took a deep breath before speaking. "I just hope...I hope you won't disappoint me, Chris. After

Tris's curiosity was piqued, and she leaned in, eager to hear more. "But why can't I remember you?" she asked, her eyes locked on Julian's. Julian's expression turned serious, and he took a deep breath before speaking. "My father was your father's assistant," he said. "He worked for your father for many years." Tris's eyes widened in surprise. "Really?" she asked, trying to process this new information. Julian nodded. "Yes. And because of that, I spent a lot of time at your house when I was growing up. Your father, Ed, was like a mentor to me. He was always kind and generous, and he even paid for my education." Tris's eyes were wide with amazement. "I had no idea," she said, feeling a little guilty for not knowing more about Julian's connection to her family. Julian smiled wryly. "It's not your fault," he said. "I'm just grateful to your father for everything he did for me. Even when my own father passed away, Ed was there to help us out financially." Tris's heart went o

The doorbell rang at Anne's apartment, and she slowly got up to answer it, still feeling the effects of her fever. She opened the door to find Chris standing there, holding a bag of fruit and a bottle of tonic water. A weak smile spread across Anne's face as she invited Chris in. "Hey, come on in," she said, stepping aside to let Chris enter. They sat down in the living room, and Chris couldn't help but notice how pale and weak Anne looked. "Hey, you look really rough," Chris said, concern etched on his face. Anne rubbed her temples, wincing in pain. "I know, I feel awful," she said. "But I'm trying to take care of myself." Chris looked at her skeptically. "You're not exactly taking care of yourself, are you?" he asked. "I mean, why are you staying here alone when you're sick?" Anne sighed, feeling a little defensive. "My parents just left for a business trip last night, so I decided to stay here in my apartment," she explained. Chris's expression turned sympathetic. "Yo

Chris quickly left Anne's apartment, feeling guilty and anxious about what had just happened. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he had somehow led Anne on, even though he had never intended to. As he walked back to his office, he couldn't help but think about Tris and how he was going to explain this situation to her. He planned to meet up with Tris that night and confess everything, hoping that she would understand and forgive him. But just as he was sitting down at his desk, his phone rang, making him jump in surprise. He looked at the caller ID and his heart sank. It was Anne. "Hey," Chris said hesitantly, trying to sound neutral. "Chris, I'm so sorry," Anne said, her voice trembling with emotion. "I feel like such an idiot for what I did earlier. I wasn't thinking, and I wasn't trying to manipulate you or anything. I just...I really admire you, Chris. You're an amazing person, and I've always looked up to you." Chris felt a pang of guilt and sympathy for Anne. He

Tris's anxiety lingered as she lay in bed, wrapped in her blanket and staring at the ceiling. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she needed to do something to prevent Chris from having to ask Anne for help again. As she thought about it, Tris knew that there was one person who could help her - her father, Ed. He had always been a bit of a mysterious figure, with connections and resources that Tris didn't fully understand. But Tris also knew that asking her father for help would be a last resort. He had a reputation for being ruthless and cunning, and Tris had always tried to keep her distance from him. In fact, Tris's relationship with her father was complicated, to say the least. She had always felt like she was walking on eggshells around him, never knowing when he would lash out or manipulate her for his own gain. Asking her father for help would be like playing with fire, Tris thought. It could get her the results she wanted, but it could also get her burned. Despite he

Two days had passed, and Tris was still feeling restless and confused. She didn't know what to do, or what to choose. On one hand, accepting her father's offer meant she would have to give up Chris, the person she loved, forever. But on the other hand, if she didn't accept her father's offer, Chris and his family would remain trapped in debt that would never end. Tris knew that would make Chris's life miserable, and she didn't want to see the person she loved suffer like that. But allowing Chris to continue borrowing money from Anne wasn't easy either. Tris knew that would create other problems in their relationship, and she didn't want to see Chris trapped in an unbalanced situation like that.Tris felt like she was trapped in a trap, and she didn't know how to escape. She could only hope that she would find the right answer, and that she would be able to make the right decision for herself and for Chris.Tris arrived at the library, just like she did every day. Tris and Anne arrived at the restaurant, looking forward to a relaxing lunch with Chris. As they entered, they spotted Chris already seated at a table, lost in thought. He seemed to be staring off into space, his mind a million miles away.As Tris and Anne approached the table, Chris suddenly snapped out of his reverie, looking startled for a moment before breaking into a warm smile. "Hey, guys!" he exclaimed, standing up to greet them.Tris was enveloped in a warm hug, followed by a gentle kiss on the cheek. Anne, on the other hand, received a friendly smile and a nod before Chris sat back down. The three of them settled in, with Tris sitting beside Chris and Anne sitting across from him. Chris couldn't help but feel a little nervous, his eyes darting towards Anne's face and then quickly looking away. The next morning, Tris woke up feeling miserable. She had a high fever, and her body ached all over. She realized that she must have caught a cold from getting caught in the rain the day before. She hadn't even noticed that the seasons had changed. Tris decided to take the day off from work and rest at home. She was just about to drift off to sleep again when her phone rang. It was Chris, calling to check in on her. "Hey, how are you feeling?" Chris asked, sounding worried. Tris tried to reassure him. "I'm fine, just a little under the weather. I think I'll just take it easy today and go see a doctor later." Chris sounded relieved. "Okay, good. I was worried about you. I'll come over and check on you later, okay?" Tris smiled, feeling grateful for Chris's concern. "That's okay, I'll be fine. You don't have to come over." Chris hesitated for a moment before speaking up again. "Actually, I was thinking of meeting up with Anne today to discuss some stuff." Tris's ears per

As Tris thought about Julian's words, she felt a sudden surge of clarity. She realized that she had been holding onto her anger and resentment towards Chris for far too long."It's not his fault," Tris said to herself, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's not his fault that my heart and life fell apart."Tris thought back to the beginning of her relationship with Chris. She had chosen to trust him, to believe in him. And when he had betrayed that trust, she had felt like her whole world had been turned upside down. But as she thought about it now, Tris realized that she had been just as much to blame as Chris. She had chosen to ignore the warning signs, to overlook the red flags. She had chosen to believe in Chris, even when her instincts had told her otherwise."I was just as guilty as he was," Tris said to herself, her voice filled with a newfound understanding. Tris turned to him, her eyes welling up with tears. "It's Chris," she said, her voice shaking. Julian's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on Chris. "What are you doing here?" he asked, his tone cold. Chris held up his hands, a placating expression on his face. "I didn't mean to cause any trouble," he said. "I just wanted to start a new life, away from my family and all the drama." Tris snorted, her eyes flashing with anger. "You expect us to believe that?" she said. Chris sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I know I hurt you, Tris," he said. He had also promised to keep all the staff employed, so they could continue to take care of the estate and Starlight.Tris was grateful for Julian's thoughtfulness, but it didn't make leaving any easier. She felt like she was abandoning a part of herself, leaving behind the only home she had ever known. As she stroked Starlight's mane, Tris whispered, "Thank you for waiting for me, girl.
