His charming smile didn't make him a talkative, Crystal thought,she just wanted to get a bit of information of her chances, anyways she would have to wait and see she thought.The receptionist left her in the care of another, who directed her to another before she was finally directed to the CEO assistant office. She knocked on the door and got a reply to come in. She entered into a very polished and cool office, the man behind the desk welcomed her and told her to sit, he looks like he is in his mid forties,he look cool but he isn't smiling at her like the receptionist, infact, he is frowning at her and her heart skipped a bit."I am sorry I'm late " she said in a hoarse and shaky voice, she cleared her throat and repeated herself so she can be heard."I was caught up in traffic"" You're lucky,the CEO isn't here yet, he is attending a business meeting, so when I'm through with you, you'll still have to wait for a while"" Alright Sir" she answered readily.He brought out her file" Crystal Goldie? He has a calm demeanor around him that soothed her nerves and the interview didn't suddenly feels like one, no much grilling but more like chatting with a friend." Alright" he said , then added"nice having you here Miss Goldie"he said taking her hand in firm handshake." Same here Mr....she trailed off" Valentine Edward" he supplied. Come it's time to wait for the CEO, he'll soon be here."Thank you"she murmured.She was taken to a waiting area, it was huge just like the rest of the building, the sofa there is larger than her tiny apartment, she thought as she sat down and relaxed, her eyes scanned the waiting area, everything in the building is so captivating, the tiled floor sparkling, not even a speck of dust on it, the cleaner is sure to be very thorough.Aren't they all? She thought.She looked at the secretary in front of her, there are many secretaries already and she'll just be another, that of the CEO, she wondered how he looks like, is he old?
He must be old for it will take the lifetime of a person to be able to build such massive company.She caught the eye of the secretary who has been busy sizing her up, she smiled at her but oops her smile wasn't returned, "she'll just save her smile for someone who appreciates it", she thought as another employee dressed in black and white approached her with all smiles, her heels sounding on the marble floor. "Do you care for some drink? Tea? Coffee? She asked politely." Oh! no" Crystal replied, returning the smile, she don't think anything can stay in her stomach right now,she simply have to relax before the CEO comes in, she wondered how he looks like, she have heard he's fearsome, God help her.Her mind suddenly flashed to the incident that morning, he said he is working in RAE, "why haven't she seen him since she came in? Probably a lie"she thoughtThe employees of RAE are so we'll behaved and polite but that Mr arrogant is simply a jerk and asshole, of cause everyone wants to associate with RAE, even the arrogant want to blend in, the thought of him made her fume inside, her heart boiling in anger already, she switched her mind to why she must work here in the first place. She lives to spite her father, RAE corporation has always been an headache to her dad and having his only daughter working there would be a big slap on his face.
She has never forgiven him for the incident fifteen years ago and she will never forgive him, she had refused every offer of help from him, she went to Harvard on scholarship, she worked part time to put food on her table and pay her bills, though it has been tough but she'd rather die than take a penny from him, her dad even offered her a job with mouth watering salary when she graduated but she had coldly turned it down,she has been living without him and will continue to do so,she want nothing to do with that man and even went as far as changing her surname to her mother's family name.
She smiled wickedly as she imagined the disappointed look that will be on her dad's face when he found out where she choose to work, he'll be furious,yet another defilement from her.
