Chapter 6

“Doctor please, save me. Please nothing should happen to my child,” Cass pleaded honestly.

“I am trying my best, but for now your child is fine just that the alcohol you took was too strong and that has caused the child to be uncomfortable which leads to the throwing up and the collapsing.”

The slim, beautiful female doctor on duty and in charge of her, explained to her.

“Doctor when the father of my child comes, please don't tell him about the alcohol, I beg of you.”

“What then should I tell him? That you just fainted due to stress or what?” The confused doctor inquired.

“It is simple, just tell him I should be given some time to rest and not be stressed.”

Cassandra was still talking when the doctor quickly asked her, “What if he asked me about what happened that made you collapse? What should I say?”

“Like I said, it is simple, tell him he should make sure I avoid anything that will stress me and the fall isn't really serious as my baby and I are doing okay.”

Cass really had everything planned out. After what seemed like forever and the doctor being lost in thought, she nodded her head in agreement.

“Okay, Mrs Cassandra, I will only cover up for you just this one time. You have to promise me it's never going to happen again.”

“I promise Doctor Ara,” she got her name from the name tag on her dress, “Thank you so much Doctor Ara, you just saved me from a lot of problems, I won't do it ever again.”

She was trying to act all innocent so the doctor would believe her but deep down she knows she doesn't care at all.

Although Doctor Ara didn't like the idea of lying to whoever was the father of the child, she just had to do it for her client, perhaps to save her marriage she thought. She didn't want just one mistake to cost this naive woman her marriage, so she thought.

After the discussion, she checked the drips if the flow rate was accurate, she encouraged Cassandra to rest a little as it would help her baby gain comfort.

“I will write down some drugs for you and when you are leaving the nurse will give them to you,” Doctor Ara informed her further.

“Okay Doctor, thank you for your help and cooperation, I promise to come pay you homage very soon,'' Cassandra smiled knowingly nodding her head slowly.

Doctor Ara coughed lightly as she walked out of the room. She was still locking the door when a panicked Kendrick rushed to her.

“Doctor, how is she?” You could hear the frustration in his voice and how tired he looked facially.

“She is doing fine, let's talk in my office,” she intends to encourage him with those words so he will feel relieved.

With all the happenings currently going on in his life, he is just so scared that something bad will happen to Cassandra and the baby as well.

He has gone through a lot already for the day, from getting the bad news about Mr. Mahon's termination of the contract to Cassandra’s incident.

All he wants to hear from the doctor right now is that Cassandra and the baby are fine and it was just some normal pregnancy stress. That's the only news that will bring him happiness.

“Good day, I am Doctor Ara,” she took his hand for a handshake.

“Mr. Madavaski,” Ken disengaged from the handshake.

“So, Mrs. Cassandra is fine. All she needs right now is a lot of rest to help her regain her strength. Please ensure that she gets enough rest for both herself and the baby,” Doctor Ara advised.

She was following what she agreed on with Cassandra, having promised Cassandra it would be wrong for her to tell Ken the truth.

“You told me that earlier, although you didn't delve into it. What happened and why was she brought to the hospital?” Kendrick in his usual cold tone asked her.

“Mr. Madavaski, the report I got was that she fell…”

“She fell? How did it happen?” Ken didn't allow her to complete whatever she had to say. His face flashed red so fast.

“That was the report I got, Mr. Madavaski. I don't know what led to her falling. You can gently ask her that later,” she defended herself at the same time giving him a suggestion.

She didn't know what to tell him led to the fall as she wasn't expecting him to ask that question and she didn't know what Cassandra would tell him. To avoid being caught, it is better she avoids the question.

“Are there any complications due to the fall?” This time his fist was clenched so tight anxiously angry to hear what Doctor Ara would say.

He just hoped Cassandra fell by mistake and not someone causing her fall because if it had to do with somebody, he wouldn't hesitate to send that person to jail.

“Yes, I did a scan on her and there were no complications, she is fine and just needs to rest more that's all.” She enlightened him.

“Any medications she needs to take?”

“Yes, Mr. Madavaski. I will write them and give them to a nurse, you will get it when she is being discharged.” She has never seen a man who is this interested.

“When will she be discharged?” He just keeps having new questions to ask.

“When she is checked and she is confirmed fit to leave, she will be scheduled for a discharge.”

“Thank you, Doctor Ara.” He shook hands with her again as he left her office.

The only thing on his mind now is to find out what led to Cassandra’s fall and he must find out.

He got to Cassandra’s room and she was looking so pitiful.

“Cassandra sweetheart, how are you?” He sat beside her on the bed taking her hand.

He didn't want to ask her immediately about what happened. She had had a stressful day, and questioning her in an aggressive manner wouldn't help her.

“Honey I missed you, I never believed I would see you again after what happened but I thank the heavens I did.”

This is her way of making Ken look at her with pity and believe whatever she tells him quickly.

“Shhh, don't say that sweet, I am still with you, nobody is leaving between us,” He patted her on the shoulder.

“Sweet, thank you for caring for me and coming as soon as you heard what happened,” her plans were working as Ken's emotion could be seen rushing through his eyes.

“If I don't care for you, who will? You are carrying my child and you need all the care in the world. You deserve the care I show you, Sweet.”

By now, Kendrick was fighting his tears from falling. Cassandra is the first person to carry his child and he won't want the mother of his first child to go through so much pain. He has all it takes to keep her happy and he will try his best.

“Thank you sweet, thank you for being the only one who truly loves me,” she was just trying to play her game very well so that when Kendrick heard what led to the fall, he would have no choice but to get very mad.

All she wants is for Kendrick to divorce Rosy. She has always been Ken's sweetheart before Rosy came into the picture to snatch him away and now that she has gotten an opportunity to get close to him, she won't think twice before sending her out of his life while she takes over.

“So sweet, what happened that made you fall? Did you suddenly lose your strength or did you get dizzy because you didn't eat well?” Now getting the answer to his question was the only thing he wanted to hear.

“Honey, I don't want issues, so long I am okay that's all that matters. I don't want you getting angry and making decisions out of anger.”

“If I don't get angry when it comes to your safety, how then do I prove to you that I truly care for you, huh?” He kissed her hand softly and looked at her in the eyes.

“Honey, is better we forget about it, I will be very careful of her next time,” she dropped a tip.

“What do you mean by Her? Who is she, Sweet? Who did this to you? Who did this to the mother of my unborn child?” His face gradually turned red which means he was burning in fury, exactly the mood Cassandra wanted.

“Honey, forget about it, I won't act carelessly next time and I will always remember my condition.”

“Of course, you will be careful next time but before then can you give me a straight answer? How did you fall?” Nothing but the truth and the answer to my question,” He managed to control his voice so that she wouldn't get sad.

“Okay, fine, Rosy pushed me. We had a little argument about who would cook first and then she pushed me,” she gave a loud outburst of tears to gain more pity from Ken.

“Rosy pushed you?” He asked her in shock.
