Chapter 53 A Stitch in Time

(Sybil’s POV)

John and I walked out of his grandparents’ house. “I thought you’d forgotten about this divorce business, Sybil!” He gave me an icy stare. “What made you change your mind?”

“Oh, I think you know,” I answered, clenching my fists, “I’m tired of this. What kind of fool do you think I am? I just wish you could be honest with me.”

He shook his head and sighed. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

I looked at him, not believing what he was saying. “Let’s just get out of here.” I got into the car.

“Fine.” He got in beside me, refusing to look at me.

The tension was thick as the car started moving. Neither of us spoke, and we didn’t even look at each other. I really couldn’t understand why he didn’t just tell me that he was the father of Willa’s baby. It didn’t really matter now, anyway, since I had decided to start divorce proceedings even before I knew that she was pregnant.
