I stood at the counter minutes later mashing up the ingredients that I would use to fill in the sweet potatoes that were in front of me and I could feel his eyes on me.

I wasn't looking at him as my back was turned to both him and Kyle, who were talking by the kitchen island, but I could feel his eyes watching my every movement.

My hands that moved to bring the boiled potatoes closer to me, and my body, which was stiff at that point.

Ugh! I should just have offered him water at the door or told him to go home as I said at first, but the way Kyle had been looking at me coupled with the fact that he made time out to be there for Kyle, I couldn't just have turned him away like that.

I sighed and proceeded to fill the sweet potatoes with the bacon, pecan and cheese filling that I had prepared and after topping them with some cheese again, I popped them into the oven.
