Vivian’s POV

“I cannot be pregnant! I cannot be pregnant!” I yelled and cried at the same time in the living room.

My dad, Manny and Belinda sat still and watched as I rant and pace about the room. The least thing I was expecting was pregnancy, and to think that it was right after I divorced Syrus.

“Don’t you want a baby?” My dad asked gently, not wanting to piss me off further.

“You mean babies,” Manny chipped in.

The word ‘babies’ rang a loud bell in my ears. Babies! What would I do with triplets as a single mother? I was only beginning to find my bearing after a nasty divorce. How am I supposed to cope without a husband? Fine, I know my family and Belinda will ever be present for me, but this is not how I had hoped to live life for heaven’s sake!

“Don’t you want a baby?” My dad asked again, more gently this time around.

It was obvious to all of them that I was furious and mad as hell. Unable to respond, I broke down in tears and wept bitterly. My dad and Manny looked at each other in confusion; they did not know what to do with my emotional breakdown. Belinda said something to them, and they quietly exited the living room, leaving just me and Belinda.

Belinda joined me on the floor, gathered me in her arms and cradled me while I poured out all my tears.

“I am so sorry, Vivian,” Belinda said to me.

“I wanted to have kids. I wanted a baby, but not like this,” I managed to say amidst the tears. I was even surprised that Belinda heard and understood what I was saying. She always did anyway.

“I know you did, but these are a blessing, Vivian. I need you to stop crying, please,” Belinda pleaded.

“I know they are a blessing, Bel, but can’t you see my family? No one has ever raised kids outside marriage. My parents gave birth to us as husband and wife, and raised us all as a family. Your parents did too, right?” I rambled on while Belinda listened religiously.

“So why is this happening to me?” I cried profusely.

“I am sorry,” Belinda apologized again for something that wasn’t even her fault. “You need to stop crying so that your babies can feel better, please,” Belinda cajoled.

I managed to stop crying and wiped my eyes clean. Belinda was right, I needed to stop crying. In as much as I was divorced, I could not have been happier that I am going to be a mum. It has always been my dream to get married and have babies, just like my parents, but unfortunately, I had fallen for a man who most probably did not share the same sentiment.

My parents had been my perfect example. I saw how they loved and cared for me and my brothers in love and unity while growing up, and deep down, I had wanted something like what they had before my mum passed; a contagious and endless love.

But I had been wrong with Syrus, and now I am going to be having his babies.

“You are right, Bel,” I said, but neither of us got up from the floor. We just remained cuddled up in each other’s arms. “I just did not think that it would be after the messy divorce with Syrus,” I admitted to Belinda.

Belinda cleared her throat mischievously and said, “Syrus has always been a dickhead, and I am pretty sure he had already been acting up for months,” Belinda stretched.

I turned and looked at Belinda, confused. “Where are you going with this?” I asked her.

“I am just surprised that you were still having sex with him, that’s all,” Belinda said and looked away, sniggering.

I had expected her to be angry at me for getting pregnant for Syrus whom she hated with passion, not making jest of the situation.

“Well, it’s…I…” I stuttered but could not find a comprehensive explanation to anything.

“It’s fine, Vivian. I do not like Syrus, but you are going to make me an Aunty, so heck, I am excited!” Belinda said and hopped on her feet, her excitement rubbing off on me instantly. I smiled as I watched her.

“And you should be too,” Belinda said as she grabbed her purse.

“I am happy,” I said to her as I smiled genuinely for the first time since I heard the news, and since we got back from the hospital days ago. “But where are you going?” I asked Belinda. “I thought we were going to stay cuddled up all day,” I pouted like a spoilt little child.

“I am going to get us some Chinese and drinks for celebration, and maybe you should go talk to your dad and Manny. You freaked them out, girl,” Belinda said.

I did not want Belinda to leave, but she would only be gone for a few minutes anyway. Thankfully, the restaurant was just down the road.

“I will do that, but please no wine,” I cautioned as my hand involuntarily went to my stomach.

Belinda looked at me and laughed. “I am not stupid, alright? Plus, I am already looking forward to being an Aunty,” she said.

“Make sure you don’t stay long,” I told Belinda. I wanted her back as soon as possible. Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, but somehow, I had suddenly begun to crave company.

“Sure,” Belinda said, but before she left, she turned to me and asked, “Just wondering, are you going to tell that jerk about the babies?” Belinda asked and we both know that she was referring to Syrus.

“No,” I answered without thinking twice.

Syrus was a dickhead to me, and he did not treat me nicely. Even after the divorce, he never bothered to reach out; more like he was excited about our divorce, so why should I tell him? He would probably laugh in my face and say that I am only using the pregnancy to run back into his life.

“You will come crawling back.”

Those were his exact words, and I would rather die than see him have a filled day on it. Belinda nodded and left, but minutes after, I heard a sound knock on the door. I stood up and walked to the door, saying, “That was quick.”

But as I opened the door, there was Syrus standing right in front of me.

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   His Plan

Vivian’s POVI stared at him, dumbfounded. For a moment, we both stared at each other without saying a word, more like taking in each other. The last time we had seen each other had been at the station when Nancy had me arrested.I cannot dispute the fact that Syrus looked extremely good-looking just standing there in his pants that clung to his thighs and leather jacket that held onto his muscles. I would have been swooned by his appearance, but I wasn’t, and it actually made me happy that his presence was not affecting me that much as it used to. “What do you want here?” I asked without bothering to be welcoming. Syrus certainly did not deserve any form of hospitality from me, not after all that he has done.“Can we talk?” He asked me. I was a little taken aback that his tone was very much calm instead of angry and shouting the place down, just like his mother.“Are you here to accuse me of theft again?” I said crossing my hands over my chest as I stared up at him. • Mr. CEO We're Done!   What I Want

“Look who is back!” Belinda yelled excitedly as she stepped into the living room. “Oh, you finally got off the floor,” Belinda said as she began to put out all she bought from the restaurant. Syrus left some minutes ago, but I still could not bring myself to stand up from my sitting position. First of all, I had not expect to see him today, much more have that conversation. I had no idea how he knew in the first place. The only persons that knew are Belinda and my family, so how the heck did Syrus come to know about my pregnancy?Another thing that threw me off balance completely was the fact that Syrus’s actions took me by surprise. I had expected that he would flaunt millions of naira on my face and kiss us goodbye. Never did I imagine that I would sense that saw emotion in his eyes and voice as he talked about our babies, and also insisting on being a part of their lives. Our babies. It sounded surreal to me, and it would have been awesome to have us all as a family, but that woul

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   Intentions Gone Wrong

Georgia’s POV“That will be all, Miss Georgia. Thank you for joining us on the show,” the representative for the star booster said with a tender smile.Georgia smiled charmingly to the camera as well and said, “Oh, thank you for having me,” she told the young lady. She had just finished a round of interview with star booster, one of the platforms that would help promote her and bring her to the limelight. The lady had asked just the right questions…just as Georgia had paid their manager to do. She liked exactly how things were going for her. After the representative and her crew members left, Georgia went to the restaurant and waited for Syrus. The interview was held in the hotel loft, so it was very easy to just grab lunch after the interview, and also, she and Syrus had decided to meet up for lunch. Georgia checked her fancy wristwatch; Syrus was fifteen minutes late already.“What could be keeping him up?” Georgia asked herself as she ordered for a glass of Mojito while she waite

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   All The Answers Needed

Vivian’s POVI resumed my position in my workplace days later. It was plain stupid and useless to just sit around doing nothing at home, and because I was pregnant did not mean that I would have to give up on my dreams. I already did that when I was married to Syrus; I am not about to do that again. My dad and Manny had tried to stop me, but when they realized that I was still as stubborn as I used to be, they let me be.“Just be careful and take things slow over there, alright,” they had told me when I stepped out of the house that Monday morning.“Hey, we missed you out here,” Dan popped up in front of me as cheerful as ever. He had some bubble gums with him. “I happen to be generous today,” he added, referring to the bubble gums. “Want some?” he asked, stretching them towards me.I shook my head politely. “Thank you, Dan, I think I’ll pass,” I told him with a smile. Since I discovered that I was pregnant, I stopped taking anything that had sugar in them. I wanted to be sound and h

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   His Ex-Wife Is No Better Match

Vivian’s POV“Is that Georgia?” another female staff rushed out and joined the one who turned up the volume of the TV.I had no idea that people loved and fawned over Georgia this much, and although I would never admit it to anyone, it made me furious, because then it would make me understand why Syrus chose to be with her over me.“Oh, gosh, so disgusting,” Belinda said angrily. The two female staff could not hear her, because they were too engrossed in listening to Georgia, and the only person who could hear and feel Belinda’s hatred was me.“Yes, it is,” the first staff responded. “And it seems she and Syrus are now in a relationship,” she announced with glee. Both of them squealed delightedly like kids who were taken to a candy store and asked to take as many candies as they liked. If there was anywhere I did not want to be right now, it was here.“But we would like a hint, Georgia,” the interviewer pressed subtly. The thing with these reporters and interviewers was that they alw

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   Sad Announcement

Vivian’s POVI decided that I wasn’t going to dwell on what happened at my place of work some days ago. It had been a couple of days now after the incidence, and after Syrus came and promised to be a part of the whole process, and nothing yet from him.Not that I was keeping counts anyway.I settled at the dining and scooped some cereals into my mouth. Belinda was right; it was useless brooding over any of it.“Hi, you,” my dad said as he stepped into the living room. He had just returned from his golf course. “How many bowls of that have you had?” he chuckled as he came over to me and kissed my forehead.Ever since I got pregnant and began to eat like an elephant, I have been constantly and mercilessly teased by my family and Belinda about being a foodie. In truth, the babies made me want to devour everything in sight, and I was barely a month gone.“How was your golf course?” I asked him, trying the steer the conversation away from me and my intense desire to eat as much as I could

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   Pound Of Flesh

Vivian’s POV“I don’t understand what you are talking about,” I insisted.I did not smell any form of alcohol on Syrus, and besides, he was hardly the drinking type, so I could not understand why he would show up at my door sounding weird and funny, and talking like someone who was drunk. After the divorce, I have hardly even been anywhere else aside the hospital.“You like to play games of pretense, don’t you?” Syrus sounded bitter and very pissed.“I honestly have no clue what you are on about, and frankly you are going to piss me off with such silly accusations!” I told Syrus. Yes, I swallowed and digested every ill treatment I got from both Syrus and his mother, not to mention his sister, Bonnie, but what I would not take was Syrus extending that rudeness and bullying to the place I call home.“If you have nothing to say, please leave,” I ordered him. It was a good thing that he had decided not to step into the living room today. Right now, I just wanted him to leave me alone.“If

Vivian’s POVI sat cuddled up on the couch like a lonely kitten. Aside the fight Belinda and I had when I turned my back on all of them and married Syrus, we hadn’t fought. Then, I hadn’t felt the impact of the fight, because things between Syrus and I were still very good, and I had him around me almost all the time, so there was barely time to dwell on the fact that my best friend and I were not on speaking terms. But now, the weight of it was gradually killing me.Ever since I divorced Syrus and came back home, Belinda had been by my side the entire time. Even when I felt she was doing too much, she remained consistent in her care and love. Belinda helped me find the job at my workplace, and she always stopped by to either check up on me, or drag me out for lunch.Gosh, it was only twenty-four hours and I already miss her this deeply.“Are you going to just sit here and sulk all day or actually go and talk things out with her,” Manny said as he sat close to me. • Mr. CEO We're Done!   Reasons To Do It

Vivian’s POV“What in God’s name did you do that for?” Belinda asked, looking at me in shock, but before I could respond to her, the knock came again.I turned immediately and opened the door, and there stood the delivery lady.“Excuse me, ma’am, but you are Vivian, and you sure know Mr. Syrus Vale?” She asked.“Yes, and yes, but I still do not want any of them,” I said firmly, my voice sounding a little harsher than I intended it to, but I was already getting too upset to care about how I sounded.“Ma’am, it has all been paid for, I assure you, and they are all special orders,” she pressed.“Are you deaf or something?” I lashed out at her, and she threw her head back in shock.“I was just doing my job,” she said, less pushy now.Well, I guess she now realized that there was no talking me into accepting what I already clearly did not want to accept in the first place. Belinda hastily jumped in front of me, and in the middle of the tension that had begun to build between us.“Uh, I am

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   A Big No

Vivian’s POVWhen I heard the doorbell ring later that evening, I jerked in shock. Did Nancy return to continue with her threats and harsh words?I just sat there, contemplating. It was early evening, and I doubted anyone else would be visiting. Besides, I didn’t have any friends, and the only friend I had was Belinda. It couldn’t be Manny, because he did not know that I lived here. It couldn’t be Syrus; since the last time I told him to leave, he hadn’t returned or even called, and he would probably be nose deep into work right now, so my best guess was Nancy. She probably forgot to throw in a few more threats and punching words, and she decided to return to say them. Yes, Nancy Vale was petty like that.So I just sat there, contemplating while the doorbell continued to ring, although I already concluded somewhere in my mind that I did not want to let her in. Perhaps, if she continued that way, the neighbors would alert the cops on her, because she was threatening the peace of the e

Syrus’s POV“Yes, please have all of those delivered to the address I attached to the purchases,” Syrus said over the phone. He had just ordered a few things for Vivian; some of the things that would make her comfortable for now, and this time around, he was paying with his personal funds. He did not want to have to deal with anyone policing him about his finances, especially his mother.Syrus was still troubled about the huge sum of money Bonnie moved from the family account. This was the first time that she was doing something like that, and he was even more surprised that his mother took her side, or was she in on it too? He never got to know.“What in the heavens did she use that money for?” Syrus asked himself, greatly troubled. “What could she have needed it for?” He pondered. He was beginning to develop a mild headache as a result of trying to understand why she would do something like that, because Bonnie was well catered for. In fact, she had everything she needed, and all t

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   An Unwanted Guest

Vivian’s POVI froze at the sound of her cold and harsh words to me. It was the first time I was hearing her voice, and those were the words that came out of her mouth.I opened my eyes in the apartment now and turned around to face my reality. “How did you find this place?” I asked her as I turned and saw her looking around the apartment.“Why can’t you leave my family alone?” Nancy turned to me and asked, her eyes as cold as ice.“I have divorced Syrus,” I reminded Nancy, refusing to feel intimidated by her presence and words. When I was still married to Syrus, I tolerated every trash they threw at me, because I desperately wanted to make things work. I desperately wanted to be accepting and feel the sense of belonging, because I had neglected my family, and I had never lived without the presence, love, and joy of being around a family. But now that we were divorced, I realized that I did not need to accommodate any of her hostility. In fact, I realized that right after the divorce

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   Meeting The Witch

Vivian’s POV“Mrs. Nancy Vale,” I said breathlessly.I wasn’t particularly expecting anyone, but definitely not Syrus’s uptight, sophisticated, condescending and downright blunt mother. Without even asking if she was welcome in or acknowledging that at least I said her name in exchange for a polite greeting, she shoved me off the door and sashayed into the apartment, her exotic and expensive cologne lingering in the air.I stood by the door, frozen in shock, and maybe a little bit of fright. Since I divorced Syrus and moved out of their house, I completely stopped thinking about her and her cruelty and hostility towards me, until now, everything just came rushing back, especially the first day I met her.“Where are you taking me today, Syrus?” I had asked, giggling happily as I rode with Syrus in his brand new car.He had insisted that he wanted to see me, so as usual, I went out of the house with the constant lie that I had something to do at Belinda’s house.“Do you want to guess?”

  • Mr. CEO We're Done!   This Is A Lot!

Vivian’s POVI had been fuming with anger since I left my home. How could Manny suggest something as outrageous as that? Why would he even think that I would want to collect such a huge amount of money from Syrus.I got into the apartment and slammed the door angrily. I grabbed a bottle of water from the kitchen first to calm my thirst, but it did nothing to quell the anger deep inside of me. It was bad enough that they were already treating me as the black sheep of the family, and now, they want to guilt-trip me into this.I called Belinda on the phone immediately. I knew she was at work and probably busy, but if I did not talk to anyone, I might explode, and Belinda was the only one I could talk to. Belinda picked at the first ring, making me super relieved.“Girl, you do realize that I am at work, right?” Belinda said in her light nature, as always. “Do you want me to order that breakfast now?” She asked.“I am sorry, Bel, but I just needed to talk to someone,” I said, and now that

Georgia’s POVGeorgia stayed hidden in that spot and watched everything play out. She had planned everything with Adrian, but she needed to be sure that nothing was going to go wrong. Georgia watched Bonnie give Adrian a side look, and she raised her nose up.“All of you from wealthy homes are always looking down on people at first look,” Georgia said to herself in disdain. She was familiar with that kind of look all too well, because when she was trying to make her way to the top, she faced a lot of criticism from wealthy and influential people. Georgia also knew that if she wasn’t where she was now, Bonnie would not give her a first look at all.“Well, all that is about to change,” Georgia said as she paid attention to the pair. She arranged it in such a way that made her hear everything they were talking about.“I am waiting on someone, and you are in her seat,” Bonnie said in her rich, proud, and sophisticated voice that made Georgia want to drag off all the wealth and influence

Georgia’s POVIn private now, Georgia held her hand to her chest and released the breath that she had been holding.“That was freaking close!” Georgia said in shock. While she sat there and watched the banter among Syrus, Nancy and Bonnie, Georgia had been praying that Bonnie wouldn’t be pressured into telling the truth, thereby mentioning her name. She was really smart enough to have told Bonnie to wire it over to her, because she knew without a doubt that Syrus definitely tried to trace that money. “I have to think of something,” Georgia said to herself in thought. She received the mail of her officially approved contract with the TV show, which meant that the money would soon be paid to get. It also meant that she would soon begin her tour. All things seemed to be working well for Georgia. Now, her only problem was Bonnie. Georgia had a deep feeling that if Syrus applied just the right pressure, she would slip. She knew Bonnie and the soil she was made from. Bonnie was too soft at

Vivian’s POV“Twenty thousand dollars?!” For a moment, I thought my ears were playing tricks on me, but from the look on Manny’s face, I knew he was not joking. Why would he? Who would joke about something as important as this?Manny took a seat, dejected. He looked like he was dressed for work, but I couldn’t ask him.“Dad’s medical bills certainly shouldn’t have cost that much,” I said with certainty. Not like I had any valid proof, but I just couldn’t believe it at all. “You weren’t here, Vivian, so you have no idea what it was like,” Manny said. There was still the underlying tone of anger and resentment which I just recently figured out, and it really broke my heart. Well, I guess everyone in my family now officially hates me.“I know that, but…” I tried to talk, but Manny interrupted me.“What about that Jane girl?” Manny asked out of the blue. I blinked several times, because for a moment, I could not understand Manny’s question, and he noticed my confusion.“The girl you m
