Thank you for reading
Liam “Well, we saw how she talked to you!” Kayden speaks first and is backed by Hayden. I’m highly impressed because I didn’t know my twins were this intelligent. I mean hacking a company is another thing but watching the meeting and hearing the audio is a whole skill to another level. I will have to ask them to tell me more when we’re alone because it seems that Emily has been hiding things from me. I can’t believe I didn't know that Victoria tried to sabotage her new collaboration. I will teach her a lesson she won’t forget. I grind my teeth in irritation but quickly calm myself down as I don’t want to scare the kids. “You may go.” I turn to Jake. A fuming Emily is about to nail the twins with her gaze. “We told you, we’d protect you, mummy.” They add in unison and I can see her anger vanish from her eyes instantly. “Well, that was a lot of money. Can you transfer it back?” She asks with worry in her voice. “What if they trace you and you get in trouble? She is not a very kin
Emily “You don’t say!” Nina holds her mouth in shock as I narrate what Kayden and Hayden did. I burst out laughing trying to picture the face she had on when she was told she had no money. “I did speak to them but deep down I’m proud of them. I’m such a terrible person.” I place my face between my hands when Nina shocks me with her next words. “ I have an ex, I want to teach a lesson -” “No Nina. They won’t help you. Besides, they are grounded and won’t use any computers for a while.” I smile as I try to suppress my laughter. The kids are only six years old. I'm afraid of what they will be able to do at eighteen. The knock on the door brings us back to reality as Lily walks in, “The appointment is confirmed and you can now go there.” She smiles and I nod. “Thanks, Lily. Do you need a lift, Nina?” I ask, turning to her and she nods. “Hell yes. How else will I get home madame?” She rolls her eyes but I ignore her while I pack my testing kits and everything I’ll need. **********
Emily I turn to Liam, grateful for his defense. "Thank you," I say quietly. He nods, his eyes reflecting a mixture of concern and frustration. "Focus on what needs to be done. I'll handle the rest." As the door closes, I take a deep breath and proceed with the tests hoping to find the answers that I seek. Hopefully, I will be able to diagnose her sooner than later. I look at Theo, "Theo, I need your consent to remove her from the machine so that we can begin the treatment. It's the best chance she has." He nods, "Do whatever it takes, Dr. Harper. We trust you. I’m so sorry about my sister I will ask her to apologize" “That won’t be necessary.” I move slowly and carefully, disconnecting the machine and carefully monitoring her vital signs. With Liam’s help, we shift her to a more comfortable position. I begin the initial treatment, administering medications that will hopefully help reduce the effects of the chemicals and provide some relief to her weakened body. Theo’s phone ri
Emily My heart stops beating and my breath catches as a shiver runs down my spine. I feel a whirlwind of emotions sweep through me. His confession catches me off guard. As My heart races, I find myself at a loss for words. For a moment, I simply stare at him, searching his eyes for any sign that he might be joking or playing a game. I’ve constantly asked myself what my decision will be and every morning when I wake up and see him sitting at that table with the kids, my heart warms and deep down I know that is what I want to see forever. Every time he defends me and protects me from anyone, my heart settles more and more. and now after hearing his confession, I know there is no place I’d rather be right now. “ I never stopped loving you,” I whisper and the moment the words leave my mouth, his lips are on mine. We start slowly, capturing and tasting each other as if we're trying to make up for all those years we’ve been apart because of a cruel joke that fate played on us. I stradd
Victoria “We sincerely apologize-” “GET THE HELL OUT!” I practically scream my lungs out and the stupid man gets up and runs out the door. I pick up every glass I can find and throw it at the door, sending the glasses shattering loudly. “After all that shame all they have to say is ‘sorry!?” I scream. All my plans have been backfiring. First, the stupid divorce that I pulled on Liam and Emily didn't go through because something went wrong, and now this! I’m now the laughingstock in town. I’ve been ultimately humiliated and some are saying I didn’t even pay my dues. News going around is that, Liam just felt sorry for me and It’s driving me crazy. He must be thinking I’m a low life now and the thought if it makes me want to strangle someone. My one chance to make him mine has been blown in my face and no matter how many people I fire, I just can’t seem to feel better. Someone knocks at the door and my eyes shoot at whoever is feeling brave enough to disturb me. I storm towards the
Emily “I can see you're glowing and looking all sorts of happy! It looks so good on you.” Nina smiles as I update her on what has been happening the past two weeks. “I feel good Nina.” I smile as I swing. We brought Kayden and Hayden to the play park since it’s a weekend and Theo’s mother is slowly getting better. So, I reduced the dosage of the medication she has been receiving from every day to twice a week. Victoria angered me when I ran into her and I wanted to call her out on her desperate attempts to try to fool me by making me think she was sleeping with Liam, but I decided not to get involved in their mess and trusted that Liam would deal with it. It was also a shock to see that Katherine is friends with her and deep down, I wanted to leave a warning for her. But seeing how she already can't stand me, I kept my mouth shut. “You deserve it. I’m so happy for you and the boys. Your family deserves to be complete. Have you told Dad and Aunt Melan?” She asks as she moves her
Emily My face pales and my heart pounds in my chest as anxiety courses through my veins. I quickly cut the call with Annie. Grabbing my medical bag, I start packing all the necessary medical supplies. As I turn to pick anything I can change into, Liam stops me, concern written all over his face. "What's wrong?" he asks. "It's Mrs. Kingsley. Something's happened. I need to go check on her," I reply, my mind racing with all scenarios possible... Liam's brow furrows as he picks up my medical bag before turning to me. "I'll drive you." “What about the kids?” I ask as I try to calm and pick up my heart which has sank under my feet. “I’ll have Jake watch them baby. Breathe in and out. I’m sure it will be okay.” He says as our positions change in less than an hour he’s the one now trying to soothe me. “Stay here until Jake arrives.” He instructs his chief security as we walk to the elevator and quickly rush to the car. During the car ride, I go through everything I did and where a mis
Emily “Are you sure you want to go there?” Liam asks and I nod. “I have to. It’s only right. Besides, She was your best friend's mother.” Who I failed to save. I finish the sentence internally but it seems he can read me because he turns me to face him while placing my face in the palm of his hands, “I saw you do your best. It’s not your fault and the faster you can accept that, the faster we can find out what truly happened.” Liam says and I look at him meeting his gaze in shock. “I still feel partly responsible.” He doesn’t disagree. Instead, he pulls me into a tight hug. “I love you. We will get to the bottom of this.” “Daddy who died?” Kayden asks as he takes a look at the clothes we are wearing and his cute face frowns. “Daddy’s friend. Aunty Nina is going to pick you up soon. Be good, okay?” I kiss him on the cheeks. We drive to the funeral house and when we arrive Liam turns to me, “We can still go back you know.” He eyes me but I only shake my head. “Let’s go in but we
