Summer scaredly locked the door the second Lisa walked in and went to the window to see if someone was following Lisa.
"What are you doing?" Lisa inquired as she approached Summer, who was still staring out the window."Trying to see whether you have been followed.""Stop acting silly." Lisa murmured annoying, strolling to one of their worn-out chairs, dropped her bag on it and seating down."You can't understand." Summer said as she drew down the blinds and headed to the second couch."Who is she?"Summer placed her finger on her lips to silence Lisa. "Don't talk too loudly; it's dangerous." She whispered."Now, you're scaring me." Lisa whispered back. "Who is she?""She is Ellen Swift."Summer said the name as if Lisa ought to know who she was but Lisa didn't. "Who is that?""I asked him, I mean my brother, the same question.""So, who is she?""She is one of Mr. Adrian Swift's daughters."Lisa sat up straight with dRicardo and Lisa went home right after work on Wednesday evening."Good evening." A lovely woman with a heavy makeover, who was standing at their entrance door with a box, addressed them."Good evening." The woman was unfamiliar to Lisa, so she responded with a professional smile on her face."Hello, my name is Laura. I'm a professional make-up artist."Lisa looked Ricardo in the eyes, but he feigned not to notice and moved passed the two women."Make-up artist?""Yeah." The woman responded with a smile. "I'll do your makeup tonight.""Oh..." Lisa said, a nod of her head accompanying her word."We don't have a lot of free time on our hands. We have to hurry up.""Okay."The two women entered the house, and Lisa promptly excused herself to take a shower. She hurriedly showered and changed into the stunning silver dinner gown that Ricardo had ordered for her before returning to the sitting room, where Laura was sitting calmly.
Lisa's phone rang on Friday of that week as Ricardo was taking them back home. She took her phone out of her bag slowly, checked the caller ID, and then answered it."Hello." She said into the phone, a smile on her face."Lisa." Summer called with a troubled tone in her voice."Summer?""I'd like you to come home right now."Lisa's brows knitted together in puzzlement, "why?""For the result.""Do you really mean it?" Lisa asked, casting a glance at Ricardo, who was focused on his driving."Yeah. Where exactly are you? Do you want me to come and pick you up?""No, don't be worried. I'm already on my way.""Hurry.""Okay, Fine. Bye." Lisa said as she hung up the phone and tucked it back into her bag. She turned to face Ricardo and said. "Can you drop me here?"A confused look crossed Ricardo's face as he slowed down and tilted his head in her direction. "Why?""I want to meet someone."Ricardo shrugged his sho
Lisa was baffled as to why her thoughts hadn't even wandered to the window until now, but she doesn't seem to care. After walking to the window and quietly sliding it open, she carefully climbed out of her room, taking care not to break her legs in the process. She sighed deeply as she gazed at the window of her room, attempting to reason with Summer, but no matter how hard she tried, she knew she needed some answers. After giving her room window one last look, she walked to the road, trying not to be seen by Summer, and attempted to hail a cab, but was unsuccessful."Damn!" She swore, trying to remember what time it was because it was already dark outside. She groaned deeply, knowing she couldn't afford to wait till tomorrow for her answers, and she made the decision to walk down to his house.≈Summer headed into Lisa's room an hour later, hoping to find her asleep, but when she found it vacant and saw her window wide open, she sighed loudl
Ten years agoRicardo Kincaid was awakened by the sound of the police siren blaring in his head. He unconsciously tried to use his hand to find a pillow to cover his ears from the unpleasant noises, but his hand felt heavy, and as a result, he gave up trying. All of a sudden, he heard a man speaking through a megaphone, but he couldn't make out what the man was saying at the time. He tried to open his eyes and stand up, but he was unable to do so. It appeared as though his body had a will of its own.The man kept talking and talking, and after a minute, the man stopped talking, and Ricardo could hear the sound of someone trying to break down his door.He thought to himself, "Ellen," and tried to getup, but he couldn't. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get up.He tried to say "Ellen," but he couldn't get his mouth to open. His brows unwittingly knotted together in frustration because he wanted to protect his fiancée and their
Ricardo was still having trouble believing what was happening to him. He was responsible for the deaths of his fiancee and their unborn child. What was he thinking when he did it?His heartbeat was pounding so loudly that he was certain the police officers who were sitting by his sides could hear it.Ricardo was sweating profusely despite the fact that it was a really chilly night outside. When he observed that the cars had come to a complete halt, he looked around to see what was going on. Before he could open his mouth and ask one of the police officers who were standing by his side what was going on, both of them opened their doors and stepped out and one of themhauled himout of the car.Ricardo took a quick glance of his surroundings and realized how serious the situation was. They were in front of the police station, and more than twenty officers were keeping a close eye on him. He was being treated as if he was a dangerous animal that could atta
The door to his cell was opened around ten hours later, and he was escorted out of his cell and into the parloir, where his father and step mother were waiting for him. When he saw his father, he shouted out, "Dad," and dashed over to where they were sitting. He sat across from them, tears streaming down his cheeks uncontrollably from his eyes."Is it true?" His stepmother asked, her voice filled with concern. In response, he vigorously shook his head."We have just finished talking to Kim," his father said, his voice breaking with sadness.Kim was the name of the gatekeeper who had been present when the incident occurred."What did he tell you?" Ricardo questioned, his voice full of curiosity."That he heard screaming coming out of your apartment," his father said."Dad, believe me, I didn't do it.""I'm trying to...""Dad..." he cried out. "You know I wouldn't kill Ellen, don't you?'"The police saw the knife in your hand," hi
Becky Kincaid arrived at the car before her husband, who was still talking with one of the police officers, and she took the opportunity to explain to Susan Kincaid, her daughter, what had happened between Ricardo and his father.Susan had wanted to follow them to meet him, but her father, Desmond Kincaid, had advised her to stay behind and let him and his wife handle the situation."Are you serious?" She said angrily."Calm down, Susan," her mother reassured her, "all will be okay.""Please, Mom, stop from telling me to calm down. My brother is in prison, and you're telling me to calm down "She said and moved closer to the car door."And where do you think you're going?" Her mother asked, raising an eyebrow."Inside," she replied. "I'd like to meet him. I'd like to hear his side of the story.""But... your father will not approve of this.""I don't care," she said, getting out of the car. After introducing herself to the officers in char
A few months later, Ricardo was taken before the court in chains around both his hands and legs, and all eyes were immediately drawn to him the instant he stepped foot into the courtroom. He took a quick look around the court to make a mental note of everyone who was present. He noticed Ellen's parents and siblings on one side of the court and immediately turned his gaze away from them to avoid looking at them.He had made up his mind to never see them again after the incident because he had no idea what to say to them, especially Ellen's mother.Ellen's mother had gone to the police station on numerous occasions to speak with him, but Ricardo had politely declined each and every time by failing to appear in person. He looked to the other side of the court and saw his family sitting there. Susan, his father, and his stepmother were all seated together. Susan waved at him with a reassuring grin, and he attempted to reciprocate, but he couldn't, so he turned away f
Ricardo opened his mouth as he focused his hard gaze on Susan and stated, "Apologies, baby sister, but I'm afraid I can't let this go. I can't fucking let this go!"He walked out of the room without looking back and neither was he aware of Lisa running after him. He slid inside his car and as he was ready to start his car, the passenger's door opened and Lisa slipped inside the car."You should have stayed with her." He said as he started the car and accelerated out of the parking lot."I... I want..." Lisa stumbled over her words, unsure of what to say."You don't trust me?""I trust you but... you are upset right now and I'm afraid you might hurt him.""No one, not even you, can stop me from hurting him.""Ricardo.""Now is not the time to Ricardo me.""No one, including you and Susan, will benefit from your being imprisoned. Neither Susan nor I want that for you, and I'm sure you don't want that for yourself either."Ricardo said as he slowed his car
"Can you tell me what's going on?" Lisa questioned, her brows raised in concern."Susan is at the hospital," he said as he turned to face her. "I'm sure the news came as a shock to her."Lisa sighed, gently pushed herself out of bed, and said. "I'll go with you.""But...""Shhhh...I've got this." With a shrug of her shoulder, "I'm strong enough to even go back home. I'm not sure why they haven't discharged me yet."She walked up to Summer and gave her a bear embrace. "Thank you for everything you've done. I love you."Summer wrapped her in a bear hug, tears welling up in her eyes as she did. "I love you as well.""You should go home right now; I'll come around when I'm strong enough."Summer smiled cautiously and nodded.≈"I'm here to see Susan Kincaid." To the nurse in charge, Ricardo said. The nurse looked down at the computer in front of her, typed in a few letters, then looked up.Ricardo and Lisa hurriedly board
Timothy Freeman slid open the van door, nodded to his colleagues, who were still seated in the car, put on a wireless earpiece, and closed the van after getting a text from Mr. Kim a few minutes earlier. One of Timothy Freeman's coworkers had already hacked the neighborhood's CCTV cameras, and they all watched as Timothy Freeman, with the help of Mr. Kim, entered the Kincaid's property. Two minutes later, Timothy Freeman was in front of Ricardo's apartment, and cracking Ricardo's password was not a difficult task for him.He walked in and went right to the kitchen, taking out all the cups and putting two drops of an unknown drug into each one before putting them back in their places. Then he went into the dining room, where he placed a camera in a flower vase that was strategically placed in one corner of the room before heading out the door.He and his team had been waiting all day and were overjoyed when Ricardo and Ellen started eating, but they stopped s
Ricardo connected his chilly, melancholy, and curious eyes with Mr. Wu's as he entered his hotel room and said. "What exactly were you talking about?"Getting to his feet, Mr. Adrian Wu headed toward the corner of his room where a board had been set up with many photographs pinned to it and numerous drawn arrows connecting one picture to the next.He pointed to a picture of a man with an extremely flat jawline, beady eyes, and a straight mouthache and said, "Him."Ricardo looked at the man with a look of complete incredulity on his face and said, "Go straight to the point, Adrian.""This investigation is just as important to you as it is to me. I've been working nonstop on this case, depriving myself of sleep, food, and the pleasures of women. I've been working on this case for 10 years in the hopes of discovering what I've been missing, and just a few months ago, I began an even more thorough investigation into him.""Kim?"Mr. Wu replied with a nod of
When Timothy arrived at the port, he quickly packed his truck, grabbed his small bag, and got out of the car, praying that he hadn't made a mistake. After completing all boarding procedures, he began walking towards the ship, completely unaware that a man in black was keeping an eye on him. With lightning speed, the man in black went closer to Timothy and pulled a small, sharp knife that looked like a pen, cutting through his stomach in a single motion.Timothy Freeman felt a searing pain in his stomach, and he immediately put his hands on it, attempting to figure out what was wrong."Blood," he mumbled as he looked down at his hands, which were covered in his own blood. His legs began to shake and his vision grew blurry as he looked around, attempting to figure out who had done this to him while wincing in pain.Within seconds, he was on his knees, grasping his stomach, and he couldn't make out any more images. No! In fear of dying, he thought. Tr
Standing in front of room 304, Lisa breathed a deep sigh, not trying to grimace in pain as she did.She took a few seconds to read the number on the door before deciding to knock.Knock. Knock. No one answered, but she got a strong feeling that someone was inside the room, so she knocked again.Ricardo walked up to the door and peered through the peep hole to see who was knocking. When he realized who it was, a wave of rage swept through him, and he opened the door."What are you doing here?" As soon as he stepped through the door, he asked coldly.Lisa flinched as Ricardo's cold blue eyes met hers, and she immediately summoned her stubborn side to take control. Her stubborn side suddenly took over, shrugging away all the coldness in Ricardo's eyes."To talk to you Mr. CEO." She replied."I don't want to talk to you.""However," she said, raising the envelope in her hand, "I want to talk to you about this.""You still need to be
Two days later, Lisa sluggishly opened her eyes, scanning her surroundings to ascertain her whereabouts, and Summer's face began to take shape in her vision. When she saw Summer, she immediately thought to herself, "I'm dreaming." Because the last time she and Summer had seen or talked to each other was the day she and Summer had clashed over Ricardo's true identity."Summer?" She spoke gently to the laughing figure in her vision."Yeah." Summer replied, heavinga relived sigh. "It's me, Lisa. How are you feeling? Let me go get the doctor."She grabbed Summer's wrist before she could walk away and asked weakly. "What is going on? Where am I?""It's a long story but thank Heavens you're alive. Let me go and get the doctor.""Doctor? Where am I?" She questioned again, looking around the room."In a hospital." Summer replied while attempting to walk away."Am I about to give birth?"Summer's heart sank when she heard this, and she had t
Ricardo hailed a cab and made his way to the local police station. The police were taken aback when they saw him, but they sent him to the interrogation room, not as a suspect but as a witness. A few hours later, after answering all of their questions and without leaving any stone unturned, he walked out the door of the police station and headed straight to his apartment, which was cordoned off by yellow police tapes. He stepped into their bedroom, avoided glancing at their bed, and then picked up his phone and debit card before walking to his garage. He slipped into one of his cars and sped out, all the while dialing a phone number."Hello." Into the phone, a feminine voice said."I'm Ricardo." He stated, his voice as icy as ever. For a few seconds, there was a long, awkward pause before the feminine voice replied. "Yes?""Your friend is sick. She's at a hospital." He answered."What have you done to her?" The feminine voice asked, her loathing fo
Ricardo gently opened his eyes and looked around the room, trying to make sense of what was going on and forcing the awful dream he had just had to the back of his mind with the thought that he would not allow anything bad to happen to Lisa, at least not while he was still breathing.Someone by his side sighed in relief, and he tilted his head in the direction of the sound."Thank Goodness he is still alive." The voice said as his gaze met Mrs. Kincaid's face, who was clearly the owner of the voice. "Ah...Ric, thank Goodness you're still alive."Ricardo's brows knit together and he opened his lips as his eyes were drawn to a bag of blood on a dripstand that was being connected to his left hand. "What am I doing here?"Mrs. Kincaid sighed heavily, tears in her eyes, and she said. "Thank your lucky stars that you're still alive. I was beginning to believe I'd lost you.""You're not answering my question. What exactly am I doing in a hospital? Where is Lisa? Wh
