The last hour felt like hell for Roxanne. It was as though every part of her body was engulfed in flames. She couldn't eat or drink anything, let alone sit still. Clara was out there with people whose intentions were unknown, how could she be calm? After searching the hospital, a kidnapping case was opened by the police and Roxanne was escorted back to the villa. Oliver was also picked up from school just in case this was an attack from Henry's enemies. From the villa, Roxanne waited for news from the police. Henry was on the plane, coming back, there was nothing he could do until he arrived. After some time, Roxanne received a message from Miriam. To her horror, it was a picture of her daughter. Roxanne didn't expect Miriam to send someone to infiltrate her home to kidnap her child. Furious, she immediately called Miriam, however, it seemed the latter was hellbent on making Roxanne suffer. It took some time for Miriam to pick up the call and that's when she revealed what s
Miriam's smile froze. Regardless, she remained calm because she knew Henry wouldn't have given her fake dollar notes. "There must be a misunderstanding. Please check again," she told the female staff. "I already verified this with our counterfeit detection procedure. Officers, search these people for more counterfeit notes," the female staff instructed. "This is unnecessary. I'm a businesswoman and make all my money genuinely. If you wish to check, you're free to do so," Miriam said and willingly handed over the bag of money for the officers to check. After all, she had nothing to hide. Henry Ford was known to never engage in illegal activities so she was very sure the money he gave her was not fake. The two officers took the bag and opened it. Their eyes popped out at the amount of cash in the bag. After two minutes of going through the dollar notes, the officers shared a look and nodded. Miriam smirked when she saw this. She said, "I told you the money isn't fake-" "It
"I agree. Let's do that. It's been a rough day. I'll feel better if we all stay together tonight," Roxanne said after taking a long breath. The thought of being separated from the children scared the daylights out of her. She was having flashbacks to the moment she realised she lost Clara and was afraid it would happen again if she didn't stay alert. When Clara was brought back, relief washed over Roxanne. She immediately bathed her and Doctor Jericho was called over to check on her. Even though he wasn't a paediatrician, he did general medicine before specialising in ob/gyn so he was able to do a medical checkup on the baby. Another wave of relief washed over Roxanne when Doctor Jericho didn't find anything wrong with the baby. "We don't know how she was kept in that one hour she was taken. So, keep an eye on her." That was Doctor Jericho's word of caution before he left. From that time, Roxanne hadn't rested or left the children alone even for one minute. “Yay! I've neve
Roxanne and Henry lay on their sides, facing each other with their children sleeping in the middle. "How are you feeling?" Henry asked as he looked into Roxanne's eyes. Roxanne sighed. Her eyes were red and swollen from all that crying. She ran a hand through Oliver's curls and answered, "I feel better... This was a good idea. Thanks, babe." "I'm sorry for what you experienced today and I want you to stop blaming yourself. If anything, it was my fault for hiring nurses who were recommended by Doctor Brown," Henry remarked, guilt creeping into him at the thought. "Luckily, we found our daughter. It's not your fault too. Let's be more careful from now on," Roxanne proclaimed. What mattered was that Clara was returned and Miriam had finally been arrested. "I'll reinforce our security. Everyone coming in and out of the villa will undergo serious screening. I won't let anyone hurt our family again," Henry declared. Guilt crept into him each time he thought about his daughter. I
Henry and Roxanne had to wait for more tests to be done on baby Clara. It was at midday when the analysis of her condition was finalized. The couple stood outside the ward as the new paediatrician explained his findings. “The infection is bacterial and it has affected the lungs but something is strange. It has spread very quickly in a few hours. We have found several traces of streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria in her bloodstream. That’s what caused the infection. I'm suspecting that someone may have injected your baby with this bacteria.” Henry furrowed his eyebrows. He looked at his wife, before returning his gaze to the doctor and asked, “My daughter was kidnapped yesterday. So, it's possible that the kidnappers could have done this." Roxanne's heart was racing erratically as she listened to their exchange. Her body was trembling slightly from fear and anger. How could her stepmother be so evil that she harmed a baby? “The bacteria is usually cultivated to make vaccines for pn
“What are you going to do to us? This is illegal!” Miriam Hopper screamed at no one in particular. She and her accomplices were placed in a dark solitary room. It had no windows for proper ventilation and it smelled like something had died in there. "Why did they bring us here, Mom?" Maya asked with fear laced in her voice. "W-what is going on? Are they going to torture us?" Doctor Jonas Brown's voice resonated in the dark room. "I think so. We messed with Henry Ford after all. Rumours say he's ruthless to those who offend him," Jennifer answered. "Mom, I told you it was a bad idea-" "Shut up, bitch! She's not your mother!" Maya hissed. She had learned that Jennifer was her half-sister but she didn't want to accept her. Miriam didn't react. There was no point in making them like each other if they would spend years in prison anyway. Jennifer's heart clenched when Miriam kept quiet. Even though she knew her mother never loved her, she expected her to acknowledge her. Howeve
~FLASHBACK TO FOUR DAYS AGO~ It was time for Roxanne to feed the baby that was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit at the Ford Hospital. She entered the ward, holding the cup that had the milk she had just expressed. Her heart clenched as she approached baby Clara's crib. The constant hum from the machines and occasional beeps from the monitors that were observing the baby's pulse rate and oxygen saturation levels sounded deafening to Roxanne's ears. Roxanne took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart down before taking a good look at her daughter. Her stomach churned violently. Clara's condition was worrying. Her skin appeared to be pale and dry. The ventilator she was put on made a rhythmic sound, blending with the electronic sounds of the monitors. Each beep sent a pang of pain to Roxanne's heart. She could see green veins through her baby's pale skin. Clara's little chest rose and fell but it seemed like the movement was forced. "I'm so sorry, baby,"
A week passed. In the damp solitary cell... The lights were out and the area felt stuffed. There was little to no air, making those locked up in there twist and turn in distress. It was the worst experience one could ever go through. It had been a week since they had eaten any food. After three days of being in the isolation cell, when they thought they would die from dehydration, they were given water just to keep them alive. A few days in that small cell felt like a thousand years in the valley of death. It was so suffocating and inhaling the putrid air was horrifying. They cried and begged to be released but their pleas fell on deaf ears. It was at that point that they realised what they had done. Messing with Henry Ford was the biggest mistake they had ever made. Miriam was worse off than the rest. Having been injected with the same bacteria she injected into baby Clara's body, she had developed a lung infection within two days. It was painful to breathe... She felt like blaz

Three years later... Henry Ford woke up very early. It was the month of love and a few days before Valentine's Day. As usual, he wanted to do something special for his wife as he asked her to be his Valentine. They had been married for ten years and he always asked her days before the actual day in a special and romantic way. Since this was about them, he wanted to do everything himself. He filled up some red balloons with air and scattered them around the sitting area downstairs and the dining area. After getting busy in the kitchen, he whipped up some breakfast for Roxanne- heart-shaped pancakes drizzled with syrup and strawberries covered in chocolate. He had seen this recipe from a trending video on t-i-k-t-o-k and thought his wife would love it. He then got the roses he had got for her and put them in a glass vase before placing them on the dining table. When Roxanne woke up and looked for her husband, she woke up to the transformed living room and dining room. She
Five years later… It was a Saturday and the Fords were hosting a family braai for their son, Oliver Ford, to celebrate his new age. Roxanne sighed as she glanced at Oliver who was helping his father, Henry Ford. They stood by the barbeque grill stand, flipping meat, sausages and chicken kebabs. Oliver didn’t want a huge party on his fifteenth birthday… he just wanted to spend time with family. However, Roxanne had invited Claire Hamilton and his other friends, Liam Kent and Jake Norton. They had all grown and were now teenagers. Running around playing tag like the younger kids didn’t interest them at all. Claire and the two boys sat at one of the tables. While Claire was taking pictures of Oliver, his friends were busy playing games on their phones. “Are you impressed with your son and husband?” Heather’s voice snapped Roxanne out of her trance. “They look so cute… I swear, Henry is a great Dad and Oliver adores him,” Roxanne replied, glancing at her husband dreamily as he
Diego and Henry rushed to the mansion in less than twenty minutes as if there was an emergency. Henry looked for his wife when he entered the mansion, yelling, "Roxy? Baby, where are you? Let's go to the hospital!" At the same time, Diego followed after him and called for Yolanda, "Princess, let's go to the hospital. The earlier the better!" They both paused when they found their women in the living area laughing and chatting with Larry Ford and Kenneth Smith. Henry furrowed his eyebrows. He remarked, "I thought you said you're not feeling well. You look fine to me..." Larry Ford glared at his grandson. He scolded him, "Son, if your wife says she's not feeling well, then find out what could be wrong with her first before concluding. Should I teach you everything?" Henry scratched the side of his neck. He tried his best to be a good husband but there were times like this when he had faults. Being human, he was bound to make mistakes or maybe say something wrong. He wasn't perfe
Two months had passed since Yolanda and Diego got married. Although they were happy, Diego had noticed that his wife missed her job. Yolanda was an independent woman who loved working for her own money... Of course, Diego provided for her but he could see that she wasn't used to staying home and shopping only. It would even affect her mood sometimes. Diego thought about a way to have his wife get back to her job. Quite alright, it would be dangerous for her to be in the spotlight with all their rivals targeting them but that was why he was around, right? It was his job to protect Yolanda and ensure her life didn't change just because she fell in love with him. So, before he could bring it up to her, he met with his brother and requested to move back to Brentwood City. Augusto glanced at Diego after he made his request, his brows furrowing as he asked, "What is it? Is this place not up to her standards?" "No... it's not that. I just want her to be happy and if doing her job mak
Yolanda's heart was galloping like a racing horse. Diego's promise echoed in her mind, making her look forward to what he would do to her. She tilted her head up, asking for a kiss and Diego didn't disappoint. He connected his lips to hers and kissed her hard. They began to move towards the bed and Yolanda fumbled with Diego's buttons as she tried to undress him. Meanwhile, Diego was busy deepening the kiss with every second that passed. He grabbed the back of her head while the other hand reached between them and he stroked her core, rubbing her clit with every movement of his fingers. Yolanda moaned against his lips. She failed to get rid of Diego's suit and instead, wrapped her arms around his neck and jumped on him, coiling her legs around his ripped torso. In that position, Diego held Yolanda's ass and began grinding his massive erect shaft into her bare core... Despite it being hidden by the branded pants he had on, Yolanda could still feel the tip of his rod, digging at he
Diego carried Yolanda into the cabin. Yolanda's eyes grew wide as she looked around. If she thought the outer form of the cabin was dreamlike, the inside was like paradise itself. The wooden cabin wasn't big. It was like one big room with a small kitchen in the corner, a huge bed in the center, a bubbling hot tub on the left near one of the windows and a bathroom on the right side. The bathroom area had an enclosure for privacy. Not only did they have several acres of land to themselves, but they were surrounded by maple trees with fiery red leaves which could be seen through the huge windows. The whole place was giving "leave the world behind vibes". It offered a perfect blend of romance, peace and refreshment for the newly married couple. "Are we still in our family's estate?" Yolanda asked and Diego smiled. He loved especially the way she used the word 'our' in her question. Sliding an arm around Yolanda's waist, Diego pulled her closer and then put her at his front bef
Diego Montero realised something. He loved Yolanda with his all. Whether he waited weeks or months to propose, she would still be the woman he would want to spend the rest of his life with. Yes, they didn't know what tomorrow may bring. But who ever knows? Everyone jumps in without knowing the obstacles they will face in the future. If there's anything he learnt from his former boss, Henry Ford. It's that as long as you had your loved one by your side, any other problem felt like a passing breeze. After talking to his brother, Diego asked the housekeepers to help out with the proposal. Of course, the housekeeper who had helped Dahlia was fired. In the Mafia, loyalty was everything. Diego instructed the bodyguards to control the drones he had shipped over earlier before they travelled. Augusto helped too. He stood downstairs near the drones, waiting for midnight so that they could control the drones to help Diego propose. Yolanda woke up and they had dinner outside on the balc
Diego didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He glanced at Dahlia and asked, "Why did you come back? If you had stayed hidden, at least I would have had good memories of you... but now... you disgust me." "D-Diego... that's not true. Your brother forced himself on me. That's why I faked my death. I was so ashamed-" "Shut up! Aren't you tired of scheming? Do you think I can believe you over my brother? My brother came from the same womb as I... we may fight and not speak to each other for years, but I know he would never do anything to hurt me," Diego's words sliced through the air like shards of ice, cutting Dahlia's words in the middle. "That's not true... why did you leave? It's because you hated your family!" Dahlia answered confidently. She wasn't convinced that Diego had moved on. He loved her very much and could do anything for her... how could his love for her end so quickly? Diego shook his head. He replied, "I left because I was hurt that they didn't want to avenge yo
