9. One thing is for sure

“I have one more request, Mr. Presley,” Elizabeth said. She and Richard had just gotten married in the court, and Richard was headed to his car while she followed him.

“The deal has only one request, Miss Elizabeth, and I've fulfilled it already. Don't think you can make me do another.”

“It's not a big deal, Mr. Presley. In fact, it is something that every couple does. If you want the world to believe that we are a happily married couple. Most importantly, if you want Mr. Reynolds to believe that you are a gentleman who loves his wife and is capable of taking care of her. You will know that I should live with you in the Presley mansion and also work in the Presley corporation.” Elizabeth bluntly said.

Richard smirked. This woman really has something big up her sleeve. She wants to work in the Presley corporation. Now this game is getting interesting, and he's so delighted to play along. He will definitely enjoy playing this game. At least, it will help get Anita off his neck.

“You are absolutely right, wifey.” Richard said with a mischievous smirk. Elizabeth gulped down, trying not to be worried about that smirk. Isn't it suspicious that he quickly agreed with her working in the Presley corporation. What is he up to? This is an indication that she needs to be very careful. How can she forget….. Richard Presley is not the one to easily mess with, so she will have to be extra careful.

“Fine then, I believe that I can move in today.” Elizabeth squinted her eyes. She thought he would say that it was too early, but to her surprise, he quickly agreed. Why is he acting as if he's happy about this marriage? He's definitely up to something.

“I will drive you to your apartment so you can pack your things, and I will meet with your family too… if you are living with them.”

“I don't have a family.” Elizabeth whispered. Richard noticed the sadness in her eyes. Could it be that her parents are dead. For some reason, he blamed himself for the sadness and was tempted to draw her into his arms and comfort her. He realized his thoughts and quickly cautioned himself. What's wrong with him? He's not someone who would feel sorry for another person, especially when their sadness has nothing to do with him. It's not like he's the one who killed her parents.

“Then we will just get your things,” he said and turned to his car. He opened the door and stepped in, waiting for Elizabeth to do the same. She took a deep breath and tried to wave those painful memories. Of course, she misses her parents, and whenever reminded of them, it hurts her heart. When she felt okay, she proceeded to open the car before she stepped in.

When they arrived at her small apartment, Richard noticed that she's a lover of artwork as half of her walls were decorated with artworks. Annabelle also loves artworks. Why does this woman remind him so much of Annabelle?

“You can make yourself comfortable on the couch while I get my clothes and some other essential things. I will move others later,” Elizabeth said, deviating his attention from the artworks. He didn't say anything and just sat on the couch.

Elizabeth ambled towards her room to pack her clothes. The apartment is a one bedroom flat. It looks small, but it's a home to Elizabeth. As she was packing her things, she received a message on her phone.

‘Is it done?’ The message reads.

She took a deep breath and replied, ‘yes.’

‘Let's meet.’ Another message dropped.

‘We will, but not now. I will text you when I get the chance to meet you.’ she replied and tossed her phone on the bed while she continued with her work. She can't be seen using this phone, she will have to get another phone.

After packing her things, she dragged two big boxes to the sitting room. Richard was on his phone. He looks so calm. Someone would think that he's innocent, but he's far from it.

“Can you give me a hand? I'm living alone, so there's no one to help me,” Elizabeth said as she stood between the two boxes.

“You should just ask for me help, no need to tell me about your loneliness.” Richard scoffed. Elizabeth rolled her eyes.

Richard helped her take the boxes downstairs and put them in the trunk of his car.

“Saying a thank you will definitely not take your life,” Richard nonchalantly said.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. “Thank you.”

They entered the car and began the silent journey. Elizabeth thought she wouldn't be nervous, but she was. This is the first step of her plan. How long will she be able to go? Well, one thing is for sure…. She won't give up until she finally gets what she wants.
