Chapter four

The sensation was overwhelming, a blend of pain, relief and pleasure all mixed into one, making Vivian gasp for breath as she held unto Damien’s shoulders, with each slow thrust, he let out a stifled grunt. His hands gripped her hips tightly, anchoring her to him as he began to build up momentum and tempo as he went deeper and harder, each thrust deliberate as he drove her closer and closer to her edge.

Vivian clung onto him like her very life deepened on it right now, her fingers digging into his shoulders as she matched his rhythm, her body pressing against him with each movement, the world outside seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of them.

“Vivian,” Damien murmured against her skin, his voice rough, his breath hot on her neck and the heat they generated mingling in the air. “you feel so fucking…good”

She couldn’t form words of her own just yet. He felt amazing, he was amazing and she couldn’t think of anything now other than the sensation of him being inside her, the way his hips moved in sync with hers made her come alive. She could feel herself coming closer and closer to her edge.

And then, with a final, powerful thrust, the tension that had been building between them was suddenly shattered, and Vivian cried out as waves of pleasure crashed over her leaving her breathless and trembling in his arms. Damien followed soon after, his own release sending a shudder through his body as he held her closely, his grip was firm as though he never wanted to let go.

For a moment, they remained like that, wrapped in each other’s arms, their breathing slowly returning to normal as the intensity of the moment began to fade. Damien’s hands moved to the back of her head, his fingers tangling in her hair as he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

Vivian closed her eyes, savoring the feeling of his lips against her skin. Everything felt surreal, like a dream and she wondered if she needed to pinch herself to be certain. The way he looked at her, the way he kissed her, the way he made love to her. Vivian felt enchanted.

“Vivian…” Damien whispered again, his voice soft, almost tender. “I--"

But before he could say anything, alarm bells suddenly begun to blare, draining out whatever it was he was about to say. Vivian gasped as she tried to reach out to him, but it felt as though he were moving further and further away from her. “DAMIEN!” she cried out, but she couldn’t reach. Instead the alarm beeped louder and louder, rupturing what was supposed to be a sweet moment for her.

Letting out a shrill cry, the woman screamed for it to all stop. Vivian jolted upright in her bed, her heart racing and her breath coming out in shallow, rapid bursts. The fragments of her dream lingered in her mind still, vivid yet disorientating, as she clutched her sheets in a vice grip. What had been a sensual dream had turned into a jump scare back to reality so quickly. Her eyes darted around her dimly lit bedroom, the familiar surroundings grounding her back to truth.

Her alarm clock rang innocently on her nightstand, still buzzing with an urgency that now felt like mockery. Vivian slapped a hand down on it feeling frustrated, completely silencing the noise and letting the room fall quiet. For a moment she just sat there, staring blankly at her wall, trying really hard to process the intensity of the dream.

The bright imagery of Damien, so close and so real, lingered in her mind like a bitter sweet after taste and she groaned realizing it had been just a dream. She could almost feel the warmth of his breath and the pressure of his hand probing her body again. But it had all been an illusion.

But it hadn’t just been a dream, because every instance of that so-called dream had happened just a couple of weeks back and her memory punished her each night by replaying that scene with Damien over and over again like a broken record, and She felt a wave of second-hand embarrassment wash over her. Her cheeks burned. She buried her face in her open palms rubbing her face vigorously, as she tried to shake off the lingering excitements. “it was just a dream, get a grip, Vivian…” she slapped her cheeks really hard.

Still, the frustration and longing wouldn’t leave her mind and body alone. She grabbed a pillow and pressed it against her face, letting out a muffled scream that released the tension in her chest. When she finally pulled the pillow away, she felt slightly better, if not a little outlandish.

That encounter with Damien, who was also her boss of three years, as well as friend made her feel all sorts of things, and she could barely think straight anymore. Weeks had gone by since then, but, it was as though right after that passion fuelled night, nothing had improved in their relationship. It was rather frustrating to think about and even when she didn’t, that was all she could think of whenever she saw him at the office. She couldn’t tell if all that had meant a single thing to him, but to her, it tilted her whole world on its axis, and the dreams she had about him only fuelled her desires for him. it was his fault for making her feel this way.

“pull yourself together,” she told her reflection sternly. As she now stood in front of the sink in her bathroom to splash some cold water on her face. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and saw the faint blush on her cheeks and the slightly wild look in her eyes.

“it’s just another day at the office. Nothing more, nothing less.” Vivian said, trying to convince herself, but the truth was that she was dreading the fact that she would have to see him at work again today. Hopefully he wouldn’t come, or better still, she has a ton of work to cover so she doesn’t have to see his stupid face. It annoyed her when she saw how those models hovered around him like leeches, but there was nothing she could do about them. one, she wasn’t his wife or girlfriend, and two, what would people say if they heard she had been sleeping with her boss?

No matter the case, she still had a job to do. With that, she started her morning routine, determined to push the thoughts of that man to the back of her mind and face the day the way she normally did, with a confident smile. After all, not only was she the general secretary, she was the assistant manager, and she had an obligation to fulfill. Not only to Damien, but to the staff and models of the company as well.
