CHAPTER 54: Contractual

The door's sudden knocks disrupted the exchange between Orion and Erin.

"That must be the food," Erin exclaimed, her heart still racing. 'Oh no, what should I say to his question?'

"Thank you!" Orion's voice echoed from the doorway.

As the man reappeared, he wheeled in a cart laden with food. Orion lifted the soup and approached Erin, who remained seated on the bed. He scooped some food onto a spoon and extended it toward her.

"I can manage," Erin protested, her cheeks flushing.

"No, I insist. I promised to court you," Orion replied firmly.

"But I'm not disabled. I just have the flu, O."

"Don't be stubborn."

Erin considered another angle. "I'm not ready to be courted by you. You're going to marry another woman, and I don't want to be your side chick." She seized the spoon, giving him a defiant look.

Orion sighed. "I'll sort things out with Tanya."
