Chapter 16 An outsider

TAMMY’S POV

I wake up feeling exhausted.

I make quick work of getting up and getting dressed. I have one thing on my mind and I need an answer. I know Valentina is working somewhere in this apartment.

I find her in one of the guest rooms, obviously cleaning the bedroom that Sean had slept in last night. She spots me and stops fluffing the pillows.

“Buenos días Missus Saunders.” she says meekly.

“Good morning, Valentina.”

There’s an awkward pause as I struggle to ask outright about the emergency contraception pills I found in Sean’s study drawer. Valentina quickly cuts in to try and pry the words out from me.

“How can I help you, Missus Saunders? Is there something you need in your room? A fresh set of towels?”

“Valentina…I…er…need to ask you something. I found some…medication in Mr Saunders study.”

I see a sudden shift in her facial expression. She looks worried.

“Ah, yes, Missus Saunders. The medication in Mister Saunders office room.”

So she knows about the emergency contraceptive.
