A Big Shot

The next morning, Hazel made breakfast for Coyle before 5 a.m. and waited for him downstairs.

He sighed heavily; he had told her not to do that anymore. “Good morning,” she smiled at him, and he nodded and sat down.

“From tomorrow, I will leave for work at 8am... So don’t wake up early again, okay?” He questioned, and she nodded; she just felt it wouldn't be right to let him leave for work without eating.

Once he was done, he opted to drop her by her workplace. "But I have work at 8am,” she explained, and a better idea came to his mind.

“Then we will drop by my office first; go freshen up fast.”

Hazel wondered why they would stop at his office; she didn't have any business there, but she didn't want to sound disrespectful.

She got freshened up and returned downstairs. “I am ready.”

They both got to his car before the driver took off; during the ride, Coyle was busy reading some articles when Hazel’s phone rang.

Hazel checked the caller, and it was Max; she never expected that he would ever call her. Her gaze moved to Coyle, whose gaze was on her phone.

“If you won’t pick it up, then please put it in silence,” he said, and she nodded apologetically; her call had interrupted his reading.

So she ended the call and placed her phone in silence till the car parked at the residential parking lot of the Anderson’s group; they got into the elevator meant for the president only.

"Wow,” the structure of the building amazed Hazel as they walked out of the elevator and headed to Coyle’s office.

She was even more amazed by Coyle’s office; it was big and also very professional, just like she had imagined it.

Hazel hurried to the glass window where she could see the city properly; the view was very beautiful.

She jolted a little when she felt Coyle’s hand wrapped around her waist; his lips were close to her ear before he whispered.

“If you love working, then why don't you work here instead?” If there was a possibility for him to keep seeing her face the entire day, then he would definitely grab it.

“I already have a job,” she answered nervously; she wasn't used to him being so close to her.

“I want to kiss you, can I?” He whispered again, and her palms became sweaty. Hazel thought, "he didn't ask me before kissing me last night, so why now?"

“I want to do a lot more." Coyle added, and she felt like bursting out in tears. What was she supposed to do? Push him away or just stand still.

A knock came from the door, and Coyle frowned. “Come in,” he said, and Hazel was shocked; their position wasn't proper, and she felt so embarrassed when she heard the door pushed open.

Jude’s eyes widened in shock when he saw his boss in such a position with his wife. “I... forgot something.” He turned to leave when Hazel pushed Coyle away; she hurried and picked her bag and ran out of the office.

Jude and Coyle stared at her in disbelief, not able to believe she could run that fast.

“You..” Coyle stared at Jude, who had an apologetic look. How was he supposed to know Hazel was here at this hour?

"Sir, I remember you told me you were going to take things slowly with her so she could learn to love you genuinely, so why..." He was saying when Coyle shot him a hard glare that made him forget his words.

“Ask the driver to take her to work,” Coyle ordered before he walked to his desk, still with a frown.

Hazel walked down the car and hurried in as she was a few minutes late. When she arrived at her cubicle, she found an enormous bouquet of roses.

“What’s this?” She was confused.

“It must be for Mia,” she thought, picked up the flower, and knocked at Mia’s office.

“Come in”

Hazel pushed the door and walked in. Mia sat there with her working glasses; there were a lot of documents before her that left Hazel confused.

“Good morning, Mia,” she greeted, and Mia nodded without lifting her head.

“This flower…” Hazel was saying when Mia’s gaze moved to her. She craned her neck to the side and sighed heavily.

“It’s for you; I don't know who had it delivered,” Mia explained, and Hazel shook her head at the negative; she didn't have anyone who could send her roses.

“Just go check the card; if it isn't yours, then throw it away." Mia had a frustrated tone; she spent the entire night trying to understand the conference she attended yesterday; she even had to read a lot of documents about Tradtech and watch a lot of technology news just so she could have a proper conversation with Coyle Anderson when next they met.

“Okay” Hazel returned to her cubicle and took out the card, which read.

“Good morning, Hazy.

My grandma told me roses mean beauty,

so this is for you, Damon.”

She felt disgusted and quickly threw the flower in the bin. “How could he?” she clenched her fist angrily.

“He is so annoying.” She massaged her temple when Mia walked towards her.

“Why did you throw away the flower? Wasn't it for you?” Mia asked, and Hazel nodded. Then she noticed Mia’s gaze was focused on her hands.

Hazel realized she hadn't taken off her wedding ring. “Umm, this,” she stuttered and took off the ring when Mia stared at her suspiciously.

“Hazel, we have a meeting now. So let’s go." Mia decided not to question her about her personal life; she knew Hazel has always been one to be secretive and never opened up.

Hazel had no idea about a meeting, but she picked up her bag and followed Mia as they got to the company car, which drove out.

Soon they arrived at Tradtech and walked into the building when Hazel whispered to Mia, “What are we doing here?”

“I am trying to break the bridge between me and Coyle Anderson; watch as I become his wife. This way, you could get yourself a big shot in the future with my tactics,” Mia answered with a chuckle before they walked to the receptionist.
