Chapter 21: Enlightenment

Long Yu controlled the sword to fly to the stone steps, and looked at Leng Tu, who seemed to be waiting for something. Long Yu jumped directly onto the stone steps and put the sword back into the ring. He looked at Leng Tu with a guilty look on his face, and bowed to him. "Master, I need to find a place to gain enlightenment."

Leng Tu glanced at Long Yu, feeling that he couldn't figure out Long Yu's thoughts. "There's a Huang Mountain not far away. Go there to gain enlightenment." Long Yu looked at the place Leng Tu pointed to, and quickly gave Leng Tu a teacher's salute, then flew directly to the mountain on his sword.

Long Yu was really scared when he looked at the mountain. There were not even a few plants. The bare rocks made it hard to tell whether it was the result of a war or a natural terrain. There were traces of time everywhere, and there were potholes everywhere.

Long Yu landed at the top of the mountain, looking at the surrounding mountains, all of which were covered with green forests. Each mountain was surrounded by clouds and mist, and a wisp of white smoke covered the top of the mountain, bringing a mysterious atmosphere. Then he looked at the mountain he was sitting on, which was bare except for rocks.

Long Yu looked at the sky. The white clouds looked like several people, and the sunlight turned them into a cloud with a halo. Long Yu sat cross-legged on the rock, sensing the sounds of heaven and earth. At first, there was only the sound of the wind blowing through the trees. Long Yu still listened quietly, trying to hear more sounds.

Long Yu could hear someone fighting a beast on the southwest mountain. It seemed that the beast was being chased. It made a low cry for help, and then a stronger beast came and knocked down a large area of the forest. The people fighting the beast not only did not retreat, but followed the beast to fight.

Long Yu could feel that the battle was very intense. After about half an hour, the person who attacked the beast was chased by the beast. Long Yu looked at this person and saw that he had fled the scene by flying into the air. After a while, the battle ended and the sounds became less and less as if nothing had happened.

Long Yu continued to listen to the sounds of heaven and earth. Suddenly, there was thunder in the sky and a drop of rain fell on Long Yu's body. Long Yu did not dodge. He felt the rain getting heavier and heavier. The rocks seemed to be hit by something, making a rustling sound.

The rain kept falling. Long Yu closed his eyes and listened to the sounds around him. The raindrops fell on the leaves, and the leaves bounced repeatedly under the pressure. The raindrops bounced back and forth on the rocks, and finally flowed down the mountain with the rocks. It was unknown how long it took before the rain stopped.

A cool breeze blew through Long Yu's body. The trees on the surrounding mountains were rustled by the wind. It was unclear whether it was the sound of the wind or the sound of the trees. Long Yu looked around and saw the surrounding mountains swaying in the dark night.

Long Yu watched the trees swaying in disorder. It seemed that there was no pattern, but in fact, they were swaying in the direction of the wind. Long Yu still couldn't figure out whether it was the sound of the wind or the sound of the trees. If it was the sound of the wind, why was there no sound when it was not blowing through the trees? If it was the sound of the trees, why was there no sound when the wind was not blowing through?

Long Yu watched the wind blowing through the woods, making a whirring sound. After watching for a while, he sat cross-legged on the ground, closed his eyes, and scanned the trees with his spiritual sense. The trees swayed at different frequencies, as if someone was playing music with wind. Long Yu felt the music brought by the trees, and listened to the different sounds brought by each moment.

The wind blew less and less, and the trees swayed less and less. Long Yu felt a heat spreading through his body. He opened his eyes and looked up at the sky. A blazing ball was hanging in the sky. Long Yu looked at the glowing ball, which seemed to be blessing all things and also to be declaring its position in the sky.

Long Yu watched the ball change over time, the heat was getting less and less, replaced by darkness. Long Yu looked at the starless sky, as if a piece of cloth was blocking the light of the stars in the sky.

The sky changes. As time goes by, the ball appears again with a faint golden light. With the appearance of the ball, the night slowly fades away. It seems that the ball defeated the night, but as time goes by, the night strikes again and the ball disappears into the night again, as if the two have a tacit understanding and return to occupy the position in the sky.

Long Yu watched the sky entering deep night. On the hillside not far away, a small grass was growing on a rock. It seemed that it had been sleeping for a long time, just wanting to wake up. Unfortunately, as soon as it grew out, it was blown off the cliff by the night breeze.

Long Yu used his spiritual sense to lock onto the grass that was blown away by the wind. It was a small irregular shape with a brown shell wrapped around its tip. As the wind blew, the seed fell to the ground in the distance, and was blocked by a large tree.

Long Yu was very curious, was it the wind that took the seeds away by force, or was it the tree that blocked the seeds from following the wind? Long Yu watched the seeds finally take root in the ground, slowly grow leaves, and sway in the wind at night.

Long Yu looked at the grass. As time went by, the sun appeared. The grass greedily absorbed the sunlight and slowly grew stronger. After watching, Long Yu muttered to the air, "It was the wind that took away the grass seeds, and then the tree blocked the grass's progress. The grass then took root in the ground and grew. Then it was able to block the wind and produce music with the wind."

Long Yu: There is a voice in your mind, this is a cause and effect. Long Yu remembered what the old man said, if you hear the clearest voice, follow it. Long Yu quickly sat cross-legged on the rock and followed the source of the voice.

I saw a small grass in my mind being blown away by the wind. Then a big tree blocked the strong wind. The seed slowly absorbed the water from the ground, grew roots and merged with the ground. The small tree grew up slowly, and continued to grow regardless of wind and rain. Finally, a small flower grew out. After the flower bloomed, the grass withered and the flower turned into a seed.

Long Yu used his spiritual sense to scan the grass, the twigs and the tender leaves. The next fate might be what he saw. Although he could be immortal, Long Yu felt that this kind of cause and effect cycle was not suitable for him. Who knows what the end of the next life will be like when you are alive?

Long Yu looked at a group of ants crawling on the ground, holding food = as if they were on their way home. Long Yu locked onto a leading ant with his spiritual sense, ran past a long rock, and entered a cave. The leading ant brought food to a large ant, put the food down, and walked out of the cave again to look for food blindly. When they found food, they called other ants to carry the food together, and the cycle repeated again and again.

Long Yu retracted his consciousness and shook the sky. This cycle was not suitable for him. He had been working for the safety of others, and finally he died of exhaustion on the road. This kind of awareness was just for others, and it was selfless dedication, but he got nothing.

Long Yu looked at the sun in the sky and muttered to himself, "What's the point of constant exchange? All the creatures in the world are just showing off their existence." Long Yu closed his eyes, and a sphere appeared in the sky, rotating around a continent. Wherever it went, it was illuminated, but where it was not illuminated, it would be occupied by darkness.

Long Yu looked at the glowing ball, which seemed to be trying to illuminate the entire continent, but the ball's mission was to revolve around the continent, chasing the darkness. The ball was revolving slower and slower, and finally became a dead round object, still revolving around the continent.

Then a new round luminous body replaced the non-luminous ball. The same fate happened again and again, and Long Yu forgot why he was doing it. He had to continue even though there was no result.

Long Yu thought about what kind of result they wanted. He scanned the grass again, but still couldn't see any hope. He looked around for food. The ball in the sky was still chasing the night, not giving up its rotation.

Half a month passed, and the ball in the sky did not appear that day. A gloomy atmosphere spread across the sky, as if it would rain at any time. Long Yu looked at the ants before and hurriedly moved the food to another location. The grass beside the tree desperately took root in the ground.

A strong air current blew through Long Yu's body, and he felt as if he had been whipped. The wind blew over the ants, taking away the army of ants directly. As the wind moved, the grass was blown down and kissed the ground intimately. The trees near the grass were even pulled up by the roots.

Long Yu looked at the sky. It was raining heavily. The soil on the mountain was washed by the rain and formed a channel flowing downward. It directly washed the grass. The soil on the grass was carried down to the foot of the mountain by the rain.

Long Yu watched the grass struggling in the rain, all the way into the stream at the foot of the mountain. The grass hung on the water plants along the stream, and a fish ate the stems and leaves of the grass. Long Yu watched the life of the grass, born on the rock and died in the belly of the fish, as if it had not yet blossomed and borne fruit.

Long Yu sat cross-legged on the rock, watching the raindrops dripping onto his hands, then dripping onto the rock, and finally following the water flow, all the way down. No one stopped, as if that was what the rain had to do. The heavy rain lasted for a day and a night, and the sky turned dark, with no stars and no wind, as if it was very quiet.

The sky brightened up and the sun shone on the stream. The water in the stream turned into water vapor and finally turned into clouds in the sky, as if waiting for more water vapor to bring the next rain. Long Yu looked at the rain in the sky and fell into deep thought.

In his mind, he clearly heard the sound of a drop of water falling, "Drip", as if it was dripping on the lake, rippling a little, and then it continued to rise with a stream of air and turned into the air in the sky. Long Yu was shocked, shouldn't it turn into clouds?

The rain repeated the previous actions. Long Yu watched the rain drop by drop, dripping slowly. Long Yu was fascinated by it. The sound of "dripping" became louder and louder, as if it would shatter his consciousness.

The falling rain kept appearing in Long Yu's mind. Long Yu seemed to understand something, but it was very vague. He didn't know what it was. He felt that the rain was falling faster and faster, and a drop of rain turned into gas and dripped down.

Long Yu suddenly understood that this was the cause and effect of rain. Rain was caused by the increase of gas, which condensed into clouds. The clouds were too thick and turned into water drops, which then evaporated into gas due to the weather.

Long Yu looked at his own enlightenment. This should be the truth that he wanted to understand: the law of cause and effect.
