“I am. I have to go,” Vivian said and disconnected before Alice said a word.
Alice wanted to ask her some more but knew there were things that Vivian could keep to herself. Also, she knew that Vivian would say to her when she was ready.
Nevertheless, Alice was still feeling unsettled after Vivian’s call. She had gotten so close to Vivian, the only lady other than Liz she had ever gotten close to.
Liz was her childhood friend, but they had fallen apart when Liz and her parents left for a different city.
