Nyx is sitting on the edge of the bed, her back turned to me. She’s been silent ever since she woke up. I can feel the tension in the air, thick and suffocating, and I know something is wrong. I approach her cautiously, placing a hand on her shoulder.

“Nyx, what’s going on?” I ask, my voice soft but concerned.

She stiffens under my touch, then stands up abruptly, shrugging me off. “Lorenzo, why didn’t you tell me your mother hates me?”

My heart skips a beat. I should have known this would come up. “Nyx, it’s not like that,” I try to explain, but she cuts me off, turning around to face me with fire in her eyes.

“Not like that?” she repeats, her voice rising. “Then what is it? She thinks I’m a witch, an enemy! She’ll never accept me. I heard the maids whispering when I went out this morning.”

I run a hand through my hair, frustrated but trying to keep calm. “Look, I’m handling it. She’s just... worried. She doesn’t know you like I do.”

Nyx crosses her arms, glaring at me. “Worried? You

Nyx huffs as she reaches the top of the mountain, her breath coming in sharp bursts. The wind whips around her, carrying away the last remnants of her anger from earlier. She needs this solitude, away from the pack and the tension that has built up between her and Lorenzo.“Nyx,” a voice calls from behind her. She turns to see Charles, Lorenzo’s older brother, leaning against a boulder, arms crossed and a smirk on his face.“What do you want, Charles?” she snaps, irritation flaring in her chest. She remembers seeing him when she was in the pack for the first time, a very annoying character. “Oh, just came to see what the little witch is up to,” he replies, stepping closer. “Thought you’d come here to cry about how my mother doesn’t want you.”She rolls her eyes, refusing to let him get under her skin. “I’m not crying about anything. Just taking a break from pack drama. What’s your excuse?”Charles chuckles, taking another step toward her. “Nice try. I know you better than that. You p

He moves closer, unable to tear his eyes away from her.“You’re really leaving tomorrow?” His voice cracks slightly, betraying the calm he’s trying to hold onto.Nyx sighs softly, turning to face him. Her eyes carry the same weight, reflecting the difficult decision. “I have to, Lorenzo. My pack... they need me. I can’t stay away any longer.”“But I need you too.” Lorenzo steps forward, his fingers brushing a strand of hair away from her face. His touch lingers longer than necessary, as if he’s memorizing the feel of her skin. “What about us?”“I wish I could stay forever,” Nyx whispers, looking up into his eyes. “But I can’t abandon them. She really left. And left me empty. I brush my hand over the part of the bed where she was lying, still warm with her presence. Her scent lingers, intoxicating and pulling me in every time. If my mother wasn’t really opposed to our relationship, I’d mate with her in a heartbeat. But where are we now? Living in two different, enemy packs. How do I ever have her?I get up, restless, and pace around the room. The silence is unbearable, but so is the loneliness. There’s no way I can sit here all day, missing her. I have to distract myself, get out of this space that’s filled with memories of her.Throwing on a shirt, I decide to go out. Fresh air should clear my mind, or at least keep me from sinking into this bottomless pit of longing. I head down to the training grounds where a few wolves are already working out. The clang of metal, the scent of sweat—it’s all familiar, but today, it feels off.I jump into a routine, starting with push-ups, then weights, but it’s like my body is going t

I sit in my den, staring into the crackling fire, the warmth doing little to ease the unease growing inside me. It’s been days since Nyx left, but her presence still lingers, like a shadow that refuses to fade. I sigh, standing up to distract myself, but nothing seems to help.My thoughts wander to the basement, a part of my den I rarely visit. Old family items, relics, and forgotten memories are stored there, untouched for years. It’s a place tied to our history—a history I’ve never cared much to explore. But something pushes me toward it now, as though a part of me knows there’s something I need to see.The stairs creak as I descend, the air becoming cooler and heavier with each step. Dust swirls in the faint light that filters through a small window, and I can smell the dampness clinging to the old stone walls. My boots echo in the empty space, my fingers brushing along forgotten shelves and boxes as I search for... something. Then I see it. An old leather-bound book, sitting alone

I stare at the diary on the table in front of me, the old, cracked leather cover worn from time. My fingers trace over the embossed crest of our family, the Jonathan name barely visible. This thing has been buried for decades, maybe even longer, and the things inside... they don't feel right.I flip through the pages again, stopping at the part where the names appeared. Vincent—the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack. Nyx’s family. Then, my own ancestors. A list, but with no clear purpose.“What the hell is all this?” I mutter under my breath, feeling a knot tighten in my chest. The room is quiet, save for the sound of the pages softly crinkling as I turn them. I’ve been down here for hours, staring at this cursed thing, but the more I read, the less I understand. One entry catches my eye, written in shaky handwriting, as if whoever wrote it was in a hurry—or panicked.“They must not know. The Blood Moon pack hides more than just wolves within their ranks. Their bloodline... it is tainted. A

“Fuck, why do I feel like this?” Nyx murmurs through gritted teeth, her head heavy as if it were made of lead. Suddenly, she slumps forward, hitting her head against the sink with a groan. A wave of nausea rises, and in a heartbeat, she's retching violently, her stomach emptying in seconds.Barely managing to rinse her mouth, Nyx stumbles out of the bathroom, her breath ragged. Her face is ghostly pale, and deep shadows ring her once bright, doe-like eyes. Collapsing onto her bed, she yells hoarsely, “Maria! Where the hell are you?”Her maid bursts into the room, worry flashing across her face as she sees Nyx sprawled out on the bed. “Alphaess! Are you alright?”“I feel like utter garbage,” Nyx mutters, punching the pillow weakly in frustration. “Call the Head Healer. Now.”“Yes, Alphaess,” Maria replies, darting out of the room without a second thought.Nyx presses her hands to her throbbing temples, her mind swirling with confusion. Why is she feeling like this? I gaze at the letter in my hand, both happy and scared. Honestly, I’m feeling so many emotions at once that it’s hard to think straight. I’m going to be a father. I always dreamt of having a child, expanding my legacy. Then again, the birth of our child means that the curse will come true. What should I do? If the Elders come to know this, they won’t ever let me out of the pack. They said I’m the only pureblood child of my parents, and that I have to be protected at any cost. They forbid me to keep any relation with Nyx. But simply that’s impossible.I quickly put on a black robe and sneak out of the den, not wanting to waste a single moment. Our child will be a gift, but also a curse. The prophecy has started to haunt me, the tainted words on that diary. The Elders warned me, but never fully disclosed the matter, they were disappointed in me. But no prophecy, no curse, could ever keep me away from Nyx.The wind howls as I shift into my wolf form, my black fur blending with the night.

It feels as if the very forest is alive, watching, waiting.Lorenzo’s hand tightens around mine, his fingers steady despite the chaos unfolding around us. Enzo stands beside us, his expression unreadable, but I know he feels it too—the power, the danger. Let the magic guide you.”I glance at Lorenzo, his jaw clenched, his eyes hard with determination. He doesn’t say anything, but I know he’s thinking the same thing I am. This is dangerous, more so than any battle we’ve fought. The Heart of the Forest is a place of immense power, but it’s also unpredictable. We don’t know what we’ll face. The
