Isabella

I don’t pay too much attention at first. All I can think about is making love to Andrew, and when he isn’t around, I force myself to focus on taking care of my duties as Luna. A couple of months go by, and when I wake up and nausea hits, I instantly know what’s going on.

I’ve never had to think about contraceptives, and I was so into Andrew when I moved here, that I didn’t think straight! Our hunger for each other has slowed down some, but not a lot! My mind whirls around and around while I fight against the nausea.

I fight until I can’t anymore, and I make a beeline for the bathroom. An hour later, the doctor walks into his office and grins at us, and I just know. Fear floods me instantly. Andrew and I haven’t really talked about this. We haven’t discussed having a family so soon! We haven’t discussed it at all!

“You are pregnant and, from the looks of things, you are pretty far along. I just have a couple of questions, and then I can answer any you might have.” He sits down

Fern“I’m sorry.” I blush. “It’s just …” I hesitate and then decide I just have to know. “How do you do it?” I feel a weight lifting off my shoulders as I ask, and then he looks confused. “I mean, how do you see them so happy every day and not feel angry?”I’ve been wondering about it since the moment I heard about the Lycan pack and their Luna that was mated to the twins. How could Jack come back? I wouldn’t have. If I was in his shoes, I would hate them. I think.“Something changed the moment that Isabella made her decision.” He smiles, but I note a tinge of sadness in his eyes. “While we were dating, I could feel the pull of the mate bond, but it also felt as if something was holding me back.”I feel really sad for him as we start to walk. I’m picking at my nails. I know why the Luna brought me here, and I don’t know what I’m going to do when I turn eighteen and find that Jack is not my mate. My life has never been that lucky. I’ve never been that lucky.“It’s difficult to explain

FernThere is no denying Isabella anything which is a little frustrating at times. She steamrolls over you. I want to say that she’s spoiled, but I can’t because she is spoiling me. Over the coming week, we are running around the pack house making arrangements.I have to test the cake and pick my favourite and end up with a tummy ache from all the sugar. I’ve never had so much sugar in one day in my entire life! On the morning of my birthday, I’m woken by the family singing happy birthday, but I keep looking at Jack.I’m waiting for that moment. Nobody really knows what time of the day I was born, which means it can happen at any time. I’m surprised when the alpha and Luna give me four gifts to go with my dress for my birthday. But nothing surprises me the way that Jack’s gift does. He hands me a small blue velvet box and when I open it, I gasp. Inside there is a beautiful silver necklace with a half-moon pendant. I look at him and he smiles.“This is too much! I can’t accept all this

FernIt takes every bit of energy I have to tell Jack that I need to go to bed … Alone. I can feel all the feelings, but my mind just can’t wrap around all of it. I’m grateful that Jack understands. In the morning, I’m surprised to see surprised faces when I walk into the kitchen without a mark on my shoulder.“Good morning, beautiful.” Jack appears behind me and kisses my shoulder, sending a shiver of delight up the back of my spine.“Good morning.” I feel my cheeks turn bright red as I catch a glimpse of Isabella. She’s drinking her coffee, but I don’t have to see her face to know that she’s smiling. It’s written in her eyes. Dangit! Now she’s going to try and match up everybody!“I knew the two of you would be great together. I just never imagined you could really be mates.” She puts her mug down and looks at us like we are ice-cream or something.“Oh, you liar!” Jack bursts out laughing, and I’m a little shocked. I’m also a little jealous when he touches her shoulder. Andrew walks

FernWe pull up outside a restaurant, and Jack runs to open the door for me. I take his hand and instantly feel the spark when we touch. Jack puts his hand on my lower back as we walk into the restaurant, and we are shown to our table. He pulls the chair out, and I sit down before he takes his seat across from me. The restaurant is very fancy. I’ve never been to a place like this, and I’m in shock when I see the prices of food on the menu! I look at Jack and he grins.“Whatever you want.” He winks and I have trouble swallowing. I pick the only thing I really recognize, which is steak, and Jack orders some wine. The wine warms my throat and my stomach and I feel myself relaxing a little.“Okay, let’s play twenty questions.” Jack rubs his hands together and I can’t help but laugh. “You go first.” He sits back looking relaxed, and I squint at him.“No, no. It’s your game. You go first.” I beam at him and sit back. He studies me for a moment and then leans forward.“Are you a virgin?” He

FernHe nips my bottom lip and I open my mouth. As we explore each other, I can feel his hands slip down to my bottom. As he pulls me closer, I feel his arousal and I moan. Jack walks us backwards into my room and when he kicks the door closed, I know there is no stopping this.I don’t want to stop it. We start stripping out of our clothes and as soon as we are undressed, we literally crash into each other with the force of that pull of the mate bond. His warm skin against mine is like salve to a wound that I didn’t even know I had.It feels as if I can’t get close enough. As if I want to just melt into him and become a part of him. He walks us back to the bed and surprises me when he slowly lowers me onto the bed. It’s in strong contrast to the way he shows me that he wants me.“Are you sure?” His voice is thick with hunger as he studies me for a moment.“Please, Jack. I’m sure.” I’m shocked by the hunger in my own voice. All I want to do is cling to him. I want to feel his warm skin

Jack“I don’t know. I just … It’s almost like I saw a vision of the two of you the first time I saw her. The same way, I got a vision of me and Andrew.” Isabella shrugs and her answer sends a shiver down the back of my spine.“Well, I know you couldn’t have gone through it while in heat. Thank the goddess!” I throw my hands in the air while all three of us burst out laughing. I say goodnight and go to my house where it suddenly feels empty.Someone has sucked all the air out of my house. I walk to the bedroom and I just know that there is no way in hell that I will be able to sleep if she isn’t beside me. Not after the perfect night we just had.“Okay, just two nights. That’s all I have to deal with. Two nights.” I remind myself. Two nights and she will be spending every night with me for the rest of our lives.Fern“Good morning, sleepy head.” Isabella’s voice echoes in my room and I yawn and stretch before opening my eyes. Only then do I realize that my room probably smells like sex

FernThe ceremony was short and very sweet and as we walk down the aisle, I catch a glimpse of Isabella almost clutching her face while tears stream down her cheeks. Finally, it makes sense. I’m not sure if the change happened now that we are officially mates, but I know they aren’t romantically involved.I see the look Isabella gives Andrew, and they are so much in love that nothing will ever come between them. I look at Jack with his arms protectively around me and I hope that we can be that much in love. The party is huge and Andrew announces that I’m the beta female, officially changing my rank.I laugh out loud when Jack picks me up on the porch of our house and carries me over the threshold. The tension is thick in the air the moment he puts me down, and we stand there just looking at each other for a moment in the dark room.“I’m so grateful to you.” Jack strokes my cheek and I lean into his touch. He kisses my forehead and then each eyelid. I feel goosebumps break out all over

After breakfast, we get ready for the day, and I meet up with Isabella, who wants to know every detail. The first week goes by like a whirlwind, and I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I notice how Jack and I are a lot similar to Isabella and Andrew, and I’ve never felt as blessed as I do. I’m sitting in Isabella’s office working through some of our admin when an omega announces that we have a visitor.A young female walks in with a baby in her arms. My heart skips a beat, but Isabella moves toward the girl distracting me.“I am Luna Isabella. What can we do for you?” Isabella frowns and I wonder if she knows the girl. She smells like a rogue and I have to hold my breath for a moment, so I won’t get nauseous.“I’m looking for Jack.” It’s as though my heart shatters instantly. Almost as if

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 110 - An amazing start of two new lives.

EsmeOver the coming weeks, the gossip about Jason and Camile eventually die down as life at the pack house becomes very busy. It’s Gabriel’s birthday soon, and I want to have a huge party and invite everyone. Literally everyone. My hope is that a celebration will pull everyone out of the slump we’ve all seemed to be in. It’s very rarely that a one pack member kills another, which has kind of forced a dark cloud of depression over our entire county.Gabriel’s birthday finally arrives and everyone seems to be having a good time. I can literally feel the doom and gloom lift as the evening continues and even Gabriel, who very rarely smiles when others are around, is laughing. His birthday party is exactly what we all need, and I can feel it in the air. Once his birthday is over, however, I feel a little lost. There was total chaos while I was trying to arrange everything and now that I spend my time on what are my normal duties as Luna, I find myself wandering around the house aimlessly

EsmeOver the coming days, there is a lot of back and forth of information, and it’s clear that Jason killed Camile. The only question that nobody seems to be able to answer is why. They didn’t have the perfect friendship, but I just couldn’t see why Jason thought killing Camile would solve anything. The day the trial starts, the square at my old pack house is packed with people wanting to find out what happened. I hear people whispering, and it seems everyone believes that Jason is guilty. It still astounds me that nobody is asking why.I listen to the court case, which is pretty straightforward, and I watch as the video footage they got from us is played. The entire time, Jason keeps his head low and I have to admit, although not out loud, that I’m surprised. He was never the kind of guy to just keep quiet when he was accused of anything. After two days, the trial is over and my cousin announces that he will have his final decision about Jason’s fate in a couple of days.People disp

EsmeMom and I are in my office discussing my ideas when Gabriel and my dad walk in looking very grim. I frown, tilting my head to one side and wondering what on earth could have gone wrong so early.“Esme, we have some bad news.” Gabriel sighs and then looks at my dad before they sit down in my little lounge area in my office.“Camile is dead, honey.” My dad sounds hesitant, and I just stand there gaping at them like a fish out of water for a moment. “Jason has been arrested.” Shock runs through my body, but deep down, I kind of expected that last part.I sit down beside my mom feeling dizziness suddenly hit. I might not have been that close to them in recent months, but for a long time, they were the only friends I had. I just process what I have been told while my dad gives me the gory details they just heard from my uncle.“We don’t have to go to the funeral if you don’t want to go.” Gabriel sighs when my dad is done, and I just sit there in shock. Mom hands me a drink and I reali

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 107 - A beautiful night ...

EsmeWe do the rounds and spend just enough time with each group so that nobody will feel left out. The only group I have a problem with is my old friends. The first thing I notice is that Camile isn’t there. I’m not sure if she decided not to come to the ceremony, or if she just isn’t there right now.“We can’t avoid them, my love, but I can make an excuse for you if you like.” Gabriel pulls me closer and kisses my cheek.“No, I want all of them to see how happy I am.” I look into his eyes and smile before we make our way over to the group of people my age. At first, everything is incredibly uncomfortable, but Gabriel has this way of just making people feel comfortable. The only one that doesn’t seem to relax is Jason. He keeps glaring at Gabriel, and I just know that is never going to change. Jason will just have to accept that his mate is a lower-ranked wolf. We don’t stay as long as we did with the other groups and I breathe a sigh of relief as soon as we are away from all of them

EsmeThe day of the ceremony isn’t any better! I’m woken in the early hours of the morning and the omegas quickly start to move my things to my new bedroom. I’m a little disappointed when I walk into our room and I can smell that Gabriel had been there just moments ago.It smells of soap and I know he has taken a shower. I really want to see him before the ceremony. I need to see him, but my mom keeps telling me that it’s bad luck. My anxiety slowly builds as the day is spent on waxing and whatever is needed to make me look pretty.Right before I put on my dress, I’m completely freaking out, and I lock myself in the bathroom. My mind is all over the place. I know I want to be with Gabriel. I don’t understand the anxiety all of a sudden. I am sitting on the floor when I hear his footsteps coming closer.“Esme, it’s me.” He softly knocks on the door and I can feel it. The floor was cold, and I hoped that sitting on it would just calm my anxiety a little. I lean against the door and try

Esme“But this house is too big for two people? Where does everyone else stay?” I feel incredibly confused as he climbs the stairs with me in his arms. He stops before the door and looks into my eyes.“It’s big enough for our family. Now, will you give me a moment to welcome you to your new home before the pack arrives.” He grins and I nod. I have a lot of questions, but they can wait for now. He steps over the threshold and I burst out laughing.“Welcome home, my love.” He kisses my forehead and I slowly turn around. I gasp at the sight of it. The house is filled with what looks like only the best. The enormous grand staircase is clearly the centerpiece in the foyer.I note as Gabriel takes me on a tour that the materials used to make the furniture wasn’t cheap. The chairs look like they have been handcrafted out of wood. The cushions are covered in thick lush velvets and the curtains draped in front of the windows look heavy. The bottom floor consists out of the kitchen, a dining ro

Esme“Mom, are you okay with all of this?” I put some of the living room things down on the coffee table while she wraps them and puts them into the box.“All what, honey?” She stops wrapping and frowns at me. I sit down beside her trying to find just the right words. That is really difficult to do when you haven’t gotten along with your mother for most of your life.“Moving to a new pack. Me being mated.” I shrug, hearing the hesitation in my own voice and knowing that she is going to hear it.“Well, honey …” She sits back and studies me for only a moment. “Are you okay with all of this? That is really the big question. None of this makes sense if you aren’t okay with it.” She frowns.“Yeah, I’m okay with it.” A shy smile starts to form, and my cheeks turn bright red.“Then we are all okay with it. The time has come for your brother to take over, which means we won’t have much to do around here.” Mom shrugs and carries on wrapping. “Hey, did you get your robes for graduation yet?” Th

Esme“I … Uhm …” I look from mom to dad to Gabriel, and I’m at a complete loss for words for the first time in my life. Honestly, it’s been nice to have Gabriel there, but I’ve been so focused on just trying to get through the exams that I kind of didn’t think about leaving with Gabriel.“I think we should get through graduation first before any of us make any plans to move.” Gabriel saves the day and I literally breathe a loud sigh of relief, making them all laugh at me. Later in the evening, after dinner, Gabriel and I walk out to the lake.As we get into the cool water, I think how this could be the last time I ever see this lake. I will come to the pack territory to visit my brother, but I can’t imagine us coming here to swim. My next week is going to be filled with finding a dress for graduation and all that, so I can’t see us coming out here.We swim out in silence, each trapped in our thoughts. When Gabriel closes the gap between us, I don’t even notice until he pulls me into h

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 102 - Jason isn't Camile's mate.

EsmeBefore long, the horrible written exams are over. I’ve fallen into a new routine and have even grown used to having Gabriel in my space literally all the time. He left to check on his pack a couple of times, but he has never been gone for more than two days at a time.Jason and Camile have clearly become closer, and I’ve even heard rumours that they could very well be mates. Camile’s birthday is right in the middle of our physicals, which means my uncle has limited the celebration a little.Gabriel pulls me into his embrace while we wait for Camile to make her entrance. She tried her best to outshine me, but thanks to my uncle, her party isn’t nearly as big as mine was. Camile finally makes her entrance and I shove my face into Gabriel’s chest to cover the laughter as soon as I see her.Camile is dressed in the biggest dress I’ve ever seen. She is wearing an enormous crown, and all I can think is that she doesn’t even realize how ridiculous she looks. Her dad has the hardest time
