Isabella

We arrive at a restaurant and I feel Jack's hand softly rest on my lower back as he lets me walk in front of him to our table. He even pulls out the chair for me and I take a seat. He almost runs to his chair and makes himself comfortable.

The waitress hands us the menu, and I’m happy to let Jack order some wine for us. We silently wait a minute for the waitress to return with the wine, and I have to fight to not smile when I see Jack fidgeting with his tie.

He is nervous. He is probably even more nervous than I am. We place our order for dinner and then an awkward silence falls as we sit there in the beautiful restaurant. Jack fidgets with his tie and then his napkin, and finally I can’t do that anymore.

“So, what are your plans for your future?” Yeah, not my best moment. He is the beta. I know that.

“My brother …” Jack starts, then frowns. “Well, he is a huge part of my future, I guess.” He starts to fidget with his cutlery and our food finally arrives, giving us a couple o

IsabellaAndrew waits until I’m seated and then slides in beside me. He orders wine and as soon as the waitress is gone, his eyes settle on me.“So, tell me something about you that nobody knows.” He raises an amused eyebrow and I burst out laughing.“Hmm, that’s difficult since we kind of grew up together.” I sit back and study him for a moment while I try to think of something. “I secretly eat peanut butter from the tub with a spoon.” I feel my cheeks turn bright red when he laughs.“I do that too!” He sits back as the waitress appears to pour some wine. Andrew tastes it and he nods. Once we each have a drink and the waitress has taken our order, I turn the tables on Andrew.“What about you? What is something about you that nobody knows?” I almost squint, trying to study him carefully. I like where this is going. I feel really comfortable with him. Jack was easy to talk to but not as interesting as Andrew.“I love old cars. I’ve never owned one, and I’ve never told anybody, but I wo

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 63 - Men will be men ...

Isabella“What did you not understand about me needing time?!” I don’t even wait for my parents to say something as I growl at the two men in front of me. I’ve noticed small differences between them when we went on our dates.Jack’s left ear is just a smidge lower than his right. Andrew’s ears are straight though. Andrew has a strange brown fleck in his green eyes, but Jack doesn’t have that. Small things like that.“Look, I’m sorry. That is why both of us are here. I’ve already apologized to Jack, and I’m here to apologize to you in front of him. Don’t penalize us both because I made one mistake. I just wanted to impress you.” Andrew pleads, but I shake my head.“Coming here just goes to show that you learned nothing! I said to stay away. That’s what I need. Time away from both of you so that I can think straight about all of this.” I glare at both of them, taking a moment on each of them so that they get it.“We are sorry, Isabella. We just wanted to clear the air. We will go.” Jack

Andrew“We wouldn’t be worrying now if you didn’t pull that damn stunt! I warned you, Andrew. Isabella is not like your other girls.” Jake growls at me and I roll my eyes.“I know how stupid it was. I just thought, since Hunter mentioned that she mentioned that she wanted romance, I could give it to her.” I pull my fingers through my hair before looking at my brother. “Besides, why are you upset? I’m the one that made the mistake, not you, and now she probably likes you more.”“I’m upset because there is the very real possibility that she might just decide to reject both of us!” He pours two glasses of bourbon and hands me one before emptying his.“She is not going to reject you both.” Mom walks in with dad right behind her and I roll my eyes and almost fall into my chair. I sit and study my family for a split second.“How do you know that?” As usual, Jack is the one that speaks up while I take the time to listen … If only I followed the advice I was given!“Because I know Isabella.”

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 65 - Barely surviving ...

IsabellaThe pain is excruciating and at the same time it’s calling my mind to places I’ve never gone. All I can see are glistening male bodies. All I can hear are pleasurable moans. All I can smell is sex and sweat, and I’ve never even done the deed! I don’t know how it should smell.I hear voices around me, but I can’t make out what they are saying, and I have no idea how much time passes before I open my eyes and find my mom sitting beside me. She has a cold cloth in one hand that she’s rinsing.“Hi, sweetheart.” She smiles as she places it on my forehead. “No, don’t try to sit up. Just rest.” She softly pushes me back onto the pillow when I try to sit up. My head is pounding, and I feel my cheeks turn bright red when the memory of the images floods my mind.“What happened?” I ask, even though I already know.“You went into heat, but we’ve kept you safe. I’ll be right back. I need to let everyone know that it’s over.” She pats me on the shoulder as she gets up. “You just rest. Don’

IsabellaI am stunned at how weak I am two days after I woke up, and mom takes me to the doctor for a check-up. He smiles when he informs us that I’m just a little dehydrated and that I will recover completely in the next day or two.We return home, and I think about the twins. I haven’t spoken to them since before I went into heat. I’m actually embarrassed. Maybe I should just reject them, so I won’t have to ever see either of them ever again!“Hi, Babygirl!” Aunt Helena’s voice echoes down the passage as soon as we walk into the house and my heart just sinks to my shoes! “How are you feeling? I also had a four-day heat, and it was just awful! I was tired for a week after all that.” She rambles on as always, without giving me a chance to say anything.Mom is kind enough to guide us into the kitchen where she prepares some sandwiches and coffee while I bring Aunt Helena up to speed on what the doctor said. I know she will tell the boys, so I won’t have to call them.“So,” Helena looks

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 67 - A huge surprise date.

IsabellaI realize that I’m sounding excited, and I don’t care. I really had a great time with Jack. I could see us having a future together. I can see him teaching our children how to play chess and having family game nights.I go to bed feeling as if I’m walking on air, and it takes a while before I finally fall asleep. In the morning, I start to feel incredibly guilty. It’s tough to go on a date with Andrew after I had such an incredible time with Jack.I try to put Jack out of my mind while I get ready for my lunch with Andrew, knowing that Andrew will feel what I’m feeling the moment he arrives. If he hasn’t already felt it. I make sure to take ten minutes before our date to focus specifically on Andrew and to push all thoughts and feelings about Jack as deep down as I can.I bound down the stairs by the time that Andrew arrives. He is dressed casually, which is a little weird. I’m used to seeing Andrew in the best designer suits. I can’t remember when I last saw him in a comfort

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 68 - It's Andrew! I want Andrew.

IsabellaThe next couple of dates are just incredible. Each time they surprise me more than before and I finally get to know the differences between them. They are actually a lot different than I realized. Andrew is far more conservative than I ever thought he was. Jack is far more outgoing than I ever thought he was.Jack takes me out for water sports and paintball while Andrew takes me on a secret little picnic in a library which has us squealing with laughter when we leave, as well as a hike deep into the beautiful forest. Things are going really well, which is what slowly starts to twist me up inside.I like them both. The bond pulls me closer to both of them with each date and I can feel the love the bond is making me feel, but I’m not ready to tell either of them that I love them yet. I know that once I say it, that will be it. The one I say it to will be the one I pick. The thing I appreciate the most out of it all is that they have stopped fighting. I haven’t heard either say

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 69 - I choose Andrew.

IsabellaIt feels weird to know that Andrew is the one. At first, it feels unreal. It feels as if what I saw during the heat was just a dream, but as I search my feelings while I get ready for the day, I can feel it. Jack has been nothing but a gentleman, but after this heat, I can feel that there is something missing. While when I think of Andrew, there is nothing missing. I can’t put my finger on what it is, but there is definitely a something. I don’t think that it has anything to do with the fact that Andrew is the alpha and Jack the beta, but the thought does cross my mind.I have to tell everyone about my decision. More importantly, I have to tell Andrew and Jack. There is no need to carry on with dating now that my mind has been made up. I could see a future with them both while we were dating, but something happened while I was in heat.It is almost as if the moon goddess got involved and showed me who to be with. I kind of wonder if I was meant to be mated to both in the firs

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 111 - Alpha Noah's son!

EsmeLunar and Summer are the light of my life. Lunar just doesn’t want a mate, which kind of drives me a little insane. He is the heir. He should have a mate and procreate.“The boy is still young, my love. His opinions will change as he grows older. Give him time.” Gabriel comes to his son’s defense. “Males are usually a little older than their mates.” Gabriel always distracts me as he pulls me into his arms and my darling Lunar escapes the conversation.Summer, on the other hand, planned for her mating ceremony from the moment she could walk. Everything was planned to the last detail before she even turned sixteen. Summer has a thick file that contains everything she wants for the day, and it is literally growing by the day.“You do realize that this is not going to be a human wedding, my dear?” I sigh each time she shows me what else she found. Summer would just roll her eyes at me, and continue. All Gabriel has to say about our daughter’s flights of fancy is that she has to remem

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 110 - An amazing start of two new lives.

EsmeOver the coming weeks, the gossip about Jason and Camile eventually die down as life at the pack house becomes very busy. It’s Gabriel’s birthday soon, and I want to have a huge party and invite everyone. Literally everyone. My hope is that a celebration will pull everyone out of the slump we’ve all seemed to be in. It’s very rarely that a one pack member kills another, which has kind of forced a dark cloud of depression over our entire county.Gabriel’s birthday finally arrives and everyone seems to be having a good time. I can literally feel the doom and gloom lift as the evening continues and even Gabriel, who very rarely smiles when others are around, is laughing. His birthday party is exactly what we all need, and I can feel it in the air. Once his birthday is over, however, I feel a little lost. There was total chaos while I was trying to arrange everything and now that I spend my time on what are my normal duties as Luna, I find myself wandering around the house aimlessly

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 109 - A sad ending to two sad lives.

EsmeOver the coming days, there is a lot of back and forth of information, and it’s clear that Jason killed Camile. The only question that nobody seems to be able to answer is why. They didn’t have the perfect friendship, but I just couldn’t see why Jason thought killing Camile would solve anything. The day the trial starts, the square at my old pack house is packed with people wanting to find out what happened. I hear people whispering, and it seems everyone believes that Jason is guilty. It still astounds me that nobody is asking why.I listen to the court case, which is pretty straightforward, and I watch as the video footage they got from us is played. The entire time, Jason keeps his head low and I have to admit, although not out loud, that I’m surprised. He was never the kind of guy to just keep quiet when he was accused of anything. After two days, the trial is over and my cousin announces that he will have his final decision about Jason’s fate in a couple of days.People disp

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 108 - A horrific morning after ...

EsmeMom and I are in my office discussing my ideas when Gabriel and my dad walk in looking very grim. I frown, tilting my head to one side and wondering what on earth could have gone wrong so early.“Esme, we have some bad news.” Gabriel sighs and then looks at my dad before they sit down in my little lounge area in my office.“Camile is dead, honey.” My dad sounds hesitant, and I just stand there gaping at them like a fish out of water for a moment. “Jason has been arrested.” Shock runs through my body, but deep down, I kind of expected that last part.I sit down beside my mom feeling dizziness suddenly hit. I might not have been that close to them in recent months, but for a long time, they were the only friends I had. I just process what I have been told while my dad gives me the gory details they just heard from my uncle.“We don’t have to go to the funeral if you don’t want to go.” Gabriel sighs when my dad is done, and I just sit there in shock. Mom hands me a drink and I reali

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 107 - A beautiful night ...

EsmeWe do the rounds and spend just enough time with each group so that nobody will feel left out. The only group I have a problem with is my old friends. The first thing I notice is that Camile isn’t there. I’m not sure if she decided not to come to the ceremony, or if she just isn’t there right now.“We can’t avoid them, my love, but I can make an excuse for you if you like.” Gabriel pulls me closer and kisses my cheek.“No, I want all of them to see how happy I am.” I look into his eyes and smile before we make our way over to the group of people my age. At first, everything is incredibly uncomfortable, but Gabriel has this way of just making people feel comfortable. The only one that doesn’t seem to relax is Jason. He keeps glaring at Gabriel, and I just know that is never going to change. Jason will just have to accept that his mate is a lower-ranked wolf. We don’t stay as long as we did with the other groups and I breathe a sigh of relief as soon as we are away from all of them

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 106 - Mated.

EsmeThe day of the ceremony isn’t any better! I’m woken in the early hours of the morning and the omegas quickly start to move my things to my new bedroom. I’m a little disappointed when I walk into our room and I can smell that Gabriel had been there just moments ago.It smells of soap and I know he has taken a shower. I really want to see him before the ceremony. I need to see him, but my mom keeps telling me that it’s bad luck. My anxiety slowly builds as the day is spent on waxing and whatever is needed to make me look pretty.Right before I put on my dress, I’m completely freaking out, and I lock myself in the bathroom. My mind is all over the place. I know I want to be with Gabriel. I don’t understand the anxiety all of a sudden. I am sitting on the floor when I hear his footsteps coming closer.“Esme, it’s me.” He softly knocks on the door and I can feel it. The floor was cold, and I hoped that sitting on it would just calm my anxiety a little. I lean against the door and try

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 105 - The enormous mansion!

Esme“But this house is too big for two people? Where does everyone else stay?” I feel incredibly confused as he climbs the stairs with me in his arms. He stops before the door and looks into my eyes.“It’s big enough for our family. Now, will you give me a moment to welcome you to your new home before the pack arrives.” He grins and I nod. I have a lot of questions, but they can wait for now. He steps over the threshold and I burst out laughing.“Welcome home, my love.” He kisses my forehead and I slowly turn around. I gasp at the sight of it. The house is filled with what looks like only the best. The enormous grand staircase is clearly the centerpiece in the foyer.I note as Gabriel takes me on a tour that the materials used to make the furniture wasn’t cheap. The chairs look like they have been handcrafted out of wood. The cushions are covered in thick lush velvets and the curtains draped in front of the windows look heavy. The bottom floor consists out of the kitchen, a dining ro

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 104 - The big move.

Esme“Mom, are you okay with all of this?” I put some of the living room things down on the coffee table while she wraps them and puts them into the box.“All what, honey?” She stops wrapping and frowns at me. I sit down beside her trying to find just the right words. That is really difficult to do when you haven’t gotten along with your mother for most of your life.“Moving to a new pack. Me being mated.” I shrug, hearing the hesitation in my own voice and knowing that she is going to hear it.“Well, honey …” She sits back and studies me for only a moment. “Are you okay with all of this? That is really the big question. None of this makes sense if you aren’t okay with it.” She frowns.“Yeah, I’m okay with it.” A shy smile starts to form, and my cheeks turn bright red.“Then we are all okay with it. The time has come for your brother to take over, which means we won’t have much to do around here.” Mom shrugs and carries on wrapping. “Hey, did you get your robes for graduation yet?” Th

  • Moonlit Betrayals   Chapter 103 - Preparing for the big move.

Esme“I … Uhm …” I look from mom to dad to Gabriel, and I’m at a complete loss for words for the first time in my life. Honestly, it’s been nice to have Gabriel there, but I’ve been so focused on just trying to get through the exams that I kind of didn’t think about leaving with Gabriel.“I think we should get through graduation first before any of us make any plans to move.” Gabriel saves the day and I literally breathe a loud sigh of relief, making them all laugh at me. Later in the evening, after dinner, Gabriel and I walk out to the lake.As we get into the cool water, I think how this could be the last time I ever see this lake. I will come to the pack territory to visit my brother, but I can’t imagine us coming here to swim. My next week is going to be filled with finding a dress for graduation and all that, so I can’t see us coming out here.We swim out in silence, each trapped in our thoughts. When Gabriel closes the gap between us, I don’t even notice until he pulls me into h
