Vincent's POV

I watch Roman back off. His face softens and he acts like he did not just say something intriguing right now. What did he mean about me listening to Akira? Did he by any chance meet Akira at the house? I need to visit her very soon to find out what really happened.

"How come you had Kaid's killer in your hands and she has suddenly escaped? Someone amongst the guards must have willingly let her out." Roman says stroking his chin with a calculative look plastered on his face.

I sigh heavily. He either seems to still be in the dark or he is just pretending to. One of those two options. Before I can reply, Elara steps foot into the pack house with a huge scowl plastered on her face. I guess she knows Akira has escaped, news must really fly by fast around here.

"You had one little task and that was to keep the murderer in place!" Elara yells angrily. I take a small step backward at her sudden outburst. An irritated look appears on my face as I watch her rant in annoyance. "I hope the werewolf committe can now see how incapable you are to protect the Red Moon pack when you find it difficult to keep a prisoner in place."

"We will find her." I state in a bored tone. Instead I see it as an opportunity to ask about all of Kaid's stuffs and who moved them. "Why did you take all my brother's things?" I ask with a raised brow.

Elara scoffs in response. She looks taken aback by my sudden question, either that or she is pretending to look surprised. Everyone here are so full of the pretence act. At this point, I do not think I can trust Elara or Roman. If it was not for the Moon goddess' prophecy, I would be finding it really difficult to trust Akira too.

"What sort of accusations have you come up with now? What do you mean by where did i take all Kaid's things to? Has all of his belongings suddenly gone missing?" Elara questions me, her brows remain furrowed at my direction in confusion.

I nod my head in agreement. I sluggishly drag my feet towards the wardrobes and open it wide to display its emptiness. "See, all of his clothes are gone. None of his stuff is left here." I point out.

"Then why are you not suspecting Kaid's wife? I mean she literally escaped from your possession. At this point, that is more reason to prove that she is the murderer and mastermind behind all of this." Roman says.

"Exactly, why do you keep making me your sole suspect when Akira is literally on the loose. Mind you, i already feel enough shame that my sister is a murderer, you are only complicating matters by trying to shift the blame on me." Elara emphasizes her words.

Roman nods his head in agreement and points at me. "I told him the same thing."

I clear my throat. In order to end the unnecessary bickering. I say in a commanding tone. "Since we are all after the same thing. To put Kaid's killer to justice. You both think Kaid's wife did it. I think otherwise but that does not mean we do not have the same goal." I start. I sigh heavily and say "let us put our differences asides and help my brother catch his killer so his soul can rest in peace." I conclude.

A deafening silence befalls all three of us. Roman seems to slowly comprehend what I just said while Elara stares with a straight face. I take it as hint that we have come to an agreement. I attempt to walk out Kaid's room but Elara's next question causes me to freeze in my steps.

"Why do you think otherwise?" She asks.

I turn around to gaze at her with a raised brow so she repeats in much clearer words. "Why do you think my sister is not the killer? I mean you sound so confident. Almost as if you have evidence toprove it." Elara says.

I might not have proof as of now but I always choose to believe whatever the Moon goddess says. She has never been wrong about anything for once. Hence, if she is asking me to protect Akira then it means it is for a good cause. Asides that, Akira's story keeps pointing her as the killer. She could have killed Kaid out of revenge, he did hurt her numerous times.

"Nothing. My instincts tell me she is innocent." I state. Elara rolls her eyes at me and chokes out a small chuckle. "I know my sister way better than you do." She says confidently.

"That is more reason why you should trust her." I retort. Elara shakes her head at me. Her next words cause me to remain still. "Doyou know about the bi* fight that happened between Akira qnd Kaid?" Those were Elara's words.

What big fight is she talking about? Akira had never mentioned anything about a big fight to me if I can remember. All she talked about was how she went to prison in the place of Kaid and how she caught him cheating with her sister.

Although I guess she did not just see the need to. If it was really that important then she would have mentioned it. "Does it have anything to do with Kaid's death? If it does not then I do not think I want to hear." I say in a bored tone.

"I think it might have instigated her motive to kill Kaid. Akira had severe anger issues and she always got into fights with Kaid but this one big fight between the both of them was severe. Everyone in the pack house knew about it, as a matter of fact, it was the werewolf committe that settled it." Elara says.

I shake my head in disagreement, I do not want to hear it from her, she can be very biased.

Her eyes were covered in tears and she was lying carelessly on the floor, wailing. My entire body trembled before everyone. My heart raced extremely fast like a wild animal. The courtroom's tense atmosphere suffocated me but I refused to back down, I could not. Here I was, taking the blame for Kaid. I could not imagine the thought of my husband going to jail, I had to take the blame for him. Out of the love I feel for my husband, I insisted that I go to jail in his place. I paused to gaze at Kaid, our eyes met and a look of pity flashed over his face.“I will get you out of here!” He yelled with so much enthusiasm. “I prom

I clutch my stomach tight and allow the tears to rush down my cheeks as I realize that the real reason why Kaid never visited was not because of pack duties, it was because he had moved on with his life and I was stupid for holding onto him.“How could you?” I stutter, my entire body trembles in shock.“How could I? Come on Akira, let us be realistic here. How did you expect me to wait for you for five years? "Why did you stop by my house if you knew I would be at the Red Moon pack house?" I ask.Roman shrugs in reply. "I guess I just found it hard to believe that you actually had the guts to stay here for the night. How did you sleep so well knowing your brother died in this room?" Does that mean he did not see Akira? Judging from the way he sounds, I do not think he saw Akira at all. If he did then he would be asking questions by now, unless he is trying to keep it a secret."Answer my question Vincent!" Roman's harsh tone startles me, it jolts me out of my thoughts and back to reality. "Oh sorry about that. I guess you do not still understand me by now. I am not here to claim my brother's possession. I never have and i never will. Once I catch the killer, I will move but for now I think it is best I stay beca

Vincent's POV Spending the night here in Kaid's room makes me feel extremely awkward. I roll around the king-sized bed, trying to look for a comfortable position to fall asleep but honestly I am not comfortable at all. I do not know if it is because this is the same room Kaid died or if it is the guilt I feel eating me up.Akira's sister, Elara was right. I do not have the right to claim anything that belongs to Kaid. I was never there for my brother. I left him even at his lowest and i am guessing that is how he grew up to become a man I had never imagined him to become. A selfish cheating bastard. I grit my teeth in anger and snap my eyes open. My eyes settle on the white ceiling but my mind remains on Kaid. I need to look around the room because I have a feeling that Elara will continue to fight with the werewolf committe until they revoke the authority I have over the Red Moon pack. This is why I need to act fast, if there is anything about Kaid that can help me trace the killer

I shudder at the thought of it and I feel a pang of disappointment hit me.The Kaid I used to know would never betray anyone, but the realtruth is what kind of man is Kaid? I thought I knew my own brother but turns out I am just discovering new things about him everyday.I pause to sigh in frustration. "I am really sorry you had to go through any of that Akira." I say in a low tone. My apology will not do much but at least it will ease the guilt I feel deep down inside of me. Although now it leaves me to wonder whether Akira killed Kaid or not. Even though Kaid's actions were despicable, it does not mean he deserved to die."You are probably wondering if I killed your brother or not." She does not look happy at all. I hate being left in the loop hole of all of this. "Good thing that the werewolf committe gave me two copies." Vincent suddenly brings out another paper from his back pocket. "Never. You think Roman is going to let this happen?" Elara yells with a huge scowl on her face. Vincent shrugs and replies "I do not think he has a much of a choice in this. The werewolf committe approved of this so who are you to protest?" Vincent yells back at her.Elara staggers backward, she shakes her head in disapproval and spits bitterly at Vincent."Kaid would never be happy with you for this.
