November always like going to the borders of Tver forest where the distant scape of the city looked like Christmas lights shining and blinking. She and Jennie are the oldest females in the pack, both 18 and are very strong for their age, they had to be. Some of their males were brutally killed from the bloody battle two years ago against the Vetrovsky Pack of Moscow, Russia. That battle for the territory had wiped out half of the infamous Luna Puer Pack and that sent them running back to their roots, the damned forest of Tver.
Wolves in general takes territorial threats very seriously as it is in their nature, every threat to the territory has to be eliminated.
The first time they stepped foot in Russia, Luna Puer Pack thought they could settle and live peacefully and quietly among humans but unbeknownst to them there was another pack that owned and calls the lands of Russia their territory. The moment the Luna Puer Pack had landed in the country they were immediately ambushed, killing another seven of their males, they were mostly left with the pups. So their Alpha, November’s Father did what may be a cowardly move but the easiest route to survival, they ran.
Her father had found an unfounded territory, a forest in the borders of the central part of the country, the Tver Forest. But just because no wolves had taken the land as their territory it doesn’t mean that the Luna Puer Pack can settle down in there. They were not the only shifters anyway and soon they will have to deal with the other shifters who roam and own the lands as their territories, the nomads, humans. She knew too that full-blooded wolves and other territorial predators might come any time. With so little strength of numbers and power to protect November had to make herself stronger to protect the pups left in her care.
They could stand any form of battle but they’re always outnumbered by other packs.
The territorial wars between wolf packs had intensified throughout the years since World War II had ended in 1945. World War II where full humans had taken the wolf shifters for slaves and killer machines against the enemy countries and when the war ended a new world have been born, a new generation had started.
November’s pack, the infamous Luna Puer Pack is one of the many packs of wolves left scarred by the never-ending war. May it be a war of the countries turning against each other, may it be from the earliest times where different religions had fought each other for freedom and for what they believed or what most knew as the Holy War.
Luna Puer Pack is one of the scraps of war and they were at lost in the new world where wolves blended with full humans unnoticed, acting as if they’re humans as well, even breeding with them.
November’s generation is at loss.
For centuries, Luna Puer Pack had no home they can call their own. They’re always on the run, always moving, and fighting for home. November’s very own mother was killed in a battle for territories. November was left to her father, the Alpha of the Luna Puer Pack, not that he cared about November that much, or he is anything a good Alpha can be to his pack. November had it rough; she was born female, not a son to whom her father could leave the Pack to.
What’s more heartbreaking is the fact that her mother is not her Father’s mate; her father had certainly made it clear he had no intention of marking November’s mother his. Meaning there’s no love between them, which made November’s existence a possible threat to the future Mate and child of her father.
One day her father will find a mate and bear a child with her. But having the general rule of life, the first born will have everything of the father owned. And November is the first born.
November can only wish that the mate of his father is someone who would love her dearly, like a daughter. November snorted. Wolf mates are insanely jealous and mothers are overly protective of their children’s welfare, she will probably see November as a threat and have her killed.
November wondered what would be her life if she was a full human. She shook her head. It will never happen so she could only wish. She was born a wolf shifter, it runs through her veins, it’s in her blood and from her ancestors.
November had always known her kind had existed since the start of time, that one time, somehow humans found out about their existence along with other shifters. Her ancestors had been taken as slaves for the religious people when the Holy war started the wolf shifters were sent to fight the war against another religion, and in exchange, they feed on the dead they killed.
They were slaves; they hungered, they were chained, left in cold, left under the rain, left to die unless they kill. Her kind had lived through fear until the Holy war, that is. Wolf shifters realized they were a lot stronger, a lot more dangerous, and a lot more powerful than the full humans who treat them lower than dirt.
So the wolves had played the human’s games. They acted like the animal that they are, like what the humans expect them to be. They kill for the humans; they drink the blood of their kills and eat their insides in front of the humans they served.
They let it play until the Holy war ended, the wolves turned against humans. And for a while, wolf shifters had a peaceful life, until another war had started and humans found out ways to get the shifters right on their knees and serve them once again.
Explosives, guns, bombs. They found a weapon that was sure feared by wolves and all shifters, their only weakness next to their mates and children.
Silver.
Silver that would kill a wolf within seconds of it penetrating the wolf’s skin. Silver, every wolf’s weakness. And so wolf shifters came to their knees and kill for humans once again until another war started.
November may not know how her kind started to exist but she knew her ancestors… or at least, where they came from.
The Luna Puer Pack is the descendants of the wolves from Ossory or Osriage, the medieval Irish Kingdom of the old Ireland. Unlike other Packs of wolves, November’s ancestors worship the moon believing that the moon is the source of their strength, of their power, they see that the moon gives them energy and that the moon guides and protects them hence they are called the Luna Puer which meant Moon Child.
The wolf-shifters during the sixth century of the Ossory Kingdom had lived peacefully along with full humans, even without the knowledge of what they truly were. Until one day a human child’s carcass was found in the river, her skin was shredded, her insides missing a man had seen who did it and had pointed the wolf shifter’s family. Right then every human had turned against them, the wolves had fought back, killed, and fed themselves with everyone in the small town and then they followed the neighboring towns. Soon, the rumors of monsters eating humans spread throughout the country banishing every wolf shifter of every pack out of the nation. They scattered, some reached Europe, and others sailed and reached America, and November’s very own roots stepped foot in Korea.
A familiar howl from outside of November’s room reverberated and November jumped off her bed, pushed the window open and she waved at the black wolf below.
“Jennie!”
Wolf Jennie howled again, calling to her. She moved to the ground restlessly. Then she growled, Jennie was getting annoyed already. November giggled. She stepped up the window sills and jumped down, she gracefully landed exactly beside Jennie. Wolf Jennie growled annoyingly, she pawed November and she raised her tail as if giving November the finger before trotting away. November shook her head, smiling she followed wolf, Jennie.
“It’s not like you can’t shift to your wolf form right? Or you had any trauma right?”
November turned and blink at Jennie. The two best friends sat at the edge of a high cliff that gives the overview scape of South Korea. Their bare legs dangling at the edge carelessly.
“No. I can change to my wolf form anytime I want. Like you…” November made face as Jennie made face, continuing, “Like, every normal wolf shifter there is.”
“Then why haven’t I seen you change in your wolf form for two years now?”
November shrugged and turned her gaze forward at the distant scape.
Suddenly Jennie’s eyes widen, “Don’t tell me you want to be like those filthy humans? November! Humans are the lowest forms the Moon God had ever created! They’re filthy, powerless, disgusting, and horrifying!”
November smiled. She understand Jennie’s rage, she used to have a little brother but that little brother learned how to shift and in the first time he decided to go for a run, human hunters had shot him to death.
“I don’t want to be human Jen…” She started silently, “I just… I thought… I’ll only shift into my wolf form if lives are on the line…if our pack is in great danger.”
“And deny yourself all the goodness of being in wolf form? Are you kidding?” Jennie shook her head, “What about hunting with the pack? You go with us but you don’t shift, meaning you cannot eat our kills, you play but you never shift.”
November giggled then the two of them fell into silence. “Jen, do you think we can ever find a home that’s truly ours? What do you think is there beyond the borders? Isn’t the whole of Russia too big of territory for just one pack?”
Jennie turned to the scape as well, “You know it’s not just one pack of wolves that lives here… there are several but they’ve been there since the beginning… they rule that country. While…us… we are the strangers…the threats…the outsiders…and the name our descendants had left us to carry makes every wolf wary of us. Luna Puer Pack… human killers.”
Both November and Jennie turned back, smelling Eldric’s scent and smelling his agitation. His eyes settled to November, “Your Father is back.”
“She is my mate. I had met her years ago… and now, I found her again.” November’s Father declared. “She will be your Alpha female from now on.”The hallway filled with silence, eyes zeroed to the two strangers standing before them. “And this is Nicole…November she is your little sister.”November stared at the little girl, she has unusual eyes. For a wolf shifter, her eyes were slanted dramatically that almost resembles of a cat, just eleven and in human form but Nicole’s eyes were already of a wolf’s. Gleaming gold, November didn’t know if those were fangs peeking in her closed lips. Her gaze met by the younger girl, none of them blinked or turned away. November could smell it from the eleven year old girl, her little sister. Nicole is her Father’s daughter, he’s very own blood, a child with the mate he ha
December 2016, Brooklyn, New YorkNovember slammed against a brick wall, across the dark alley, she hit the concrete wall so hard that when she fell on the snow-covered pavement, the wall shook heavily and huge cracks were left to the wall. She growls, her eyes turning crystal blue, her vision turning into a wolf’s.Standing up slowly, she cracks her neck, the wound healing right away. November bared her fangs and snarled at the four male wolf-shifters standing across her. She was on her way to her new home when she was suddenly thrown off by a sudden force, but she inwardly blamed herself for missing the scent and was taken off guard by her enemies for she had been deep into her thoughts. She noticed it but she was almost a second too late before that hand swayed her.
“November… James?”“That’s her name.”“So what does she do?”“She’s a ballet teacher and she also teaches kindergarten in her spare time.”His older brother sounds skeptical. “And when and how did you meet this woman?”“Two weeks ago. She was mugged and I saved her.” Leonidas leaned against the railings, of his balcony, he g
November tilts her head and grew her fangs. “Hmmm…” She inspected them in the mirror, “I haven’t eaten anything raw since 2012…” Her fangs retracted. “I do miss hunting and taking down some elk or deer.”But she lives in the city now and in a fancy neighborhood too, she just can’t go out and hunt unless she went to the zoo and kill every carnivore she lays her eyes on there. Her eyes flickered from its usual human eyes to a wolf’s, cold crystal blue eyes welcomed her. Usually, her pack and wolf shifters from other packs had called her freakish for having such cold eye color. Usually only wolf cubs have blue eyes, but that changes at about six weeks of age and adult wolves do not retain blue as eye color.
November James, the bitch is fucking a human! A full human! No wonder Nicole wants the bitch dead! She’s disgusting! Having relations with a weakling, filthy humans! Luna Puer wolf growls. No wonder Nicole wanted the bitch dead, she was not only a threat to Nicole’s throne but November James is also an abomination that needs to be eliminated right away.November James do not deserve to be the Alpha of the Luna Puer Pack! She is a disgrace not only to the pack but to the whole of all the wolf-shifters!He has to tell Nicole about the latest blasphemy of the stupid bitch November James! He had reach
Two men stood in the dark abandoned factory.“Can you smell that?” One of the men asked, looking around the dark alley. His brown eyes glints.“Yeah…”“It’s a Luna Puer blood splattered all over the place. I remember the smell very clearly despite having faced them only once and that was a long time ago.”“Hmm… A Luna Puer wolf, in our territory. How interesting.”“Well…” the firs
“I got my period today. And I’m starting on the pill.” November stated one evening as she fell step beside Leonidas. She smiles at him. “Just to make sure, we’ll start using condoms too. I don’t want to be pregnant. We’re not even exclusively dating.” Leonidas had picked her up for a dinner date. They reached his car and he opened the door for her, “Who said we’re not exclusive?” November stopped, a surprised look in her face. “What, we are?” She coughed, “I mean, are we? Exclusive. I mean.” He eyed her. “Of course! I don’t do the things we do with someone I’m not in a relationship with.” A startled laugh escaped from November’s lips. She climb inside his car, sitting there and smiling amusedly she mused, “This relationship is escalating very quickly I swear, I cannot keep up!” Before he closed the door, Leonidas winkedat her. “Don’t worry; you’re doing j
At the head of the long table sits Nicole with her catty eyes, silver hair, red lips, and power. The other four of her pack were considered to be her generals. Aidan on his short, black Mohawk by her side, Eldric on the other, and followed by Minzy and Kai.Three young men stood behind Nicole. One of the young men voiced out, “We have visitors.”Minzy’s eyes lit up, head shot up, “We do?”“Isn’t that something new?” Kai piped with a hint of a smile, “Who?”“They had sent a word of their arrival tod
UNDERGROUND ARENA(HOUND FIGHTS FOR SHIFTERS)From a monitor, Nicole watches in glee as a carcass of a leopard shifter were being pulled by the leg by some guys. The arena was still on full blast. Ever since she had sent Eldric and Kai in the arena for hound fights she had been coming tirelessly. She wants to see them kill or get killed slowly just like how Jennie is slowly dying in the Luna Puer Estate.Nicole smiles as Kai curls in a ball inside the metal caged ring. His whole body aches, despite his wounds, cuts and cruises were healing. Some stopped healing at all. When too much trauma were caused in one’s shifter body some wounds will stop healing and turn into scars.
November shut the door quietly, her tears quietly falling down her cheeks. Justice, Victor, and Minzy are not around anymore. She quietly moved towards her room. Intending to lick her own wounds. She has no one to blame but herself after all. She did this to herself. Her choices are her downfall. Her choices made her husband hate her, made Leo see her as a monster. She suddenly felt so tired. Mindlessly she reached for her phone, it blinks in a notification. Three voice mails from her brother-in-law. “November this is where the Tacita Mortes pack draws the line,” Alexander said voice drained of emotions. The lodge in her throat became liquid, she wants t
“November imprinted you, Leonidas.”“Imprint?”“The bite mark at the back of your neck?”Leo’s brows furrowed, he unconsciously reached for it. The bite mark had been there for so long and it never completely heals. It burns when a woman, not his wife was near to him and burns sometimes for some reason he doesn’t understand. His brother sighed. “Sometimes, a wolf-shifter when the wolf inside them took over our consciousness, when we we
November feels like her heart was about to explode, every day for the past week since she last saw her husband. She was mainly afraid of what he might say, especially with his first expression when he found out the truth. He looked so shocked, angry, and disgusted. Now that it has been days and with Alexander helping to shed light in their world and with Minzy being Leo’s everyday caretaker some realizations have obviously sunk in already. Now they had to leave the Northlands and go to Nova Scotia to face Nicole and unite the Luna Puer Pack. Also, their stay in the North Lands will sooner or later be found out by Tacita Mortes Pack and they cannot stay longer. Alexander won’t tell, that much November believes in since Alex wouldn’t betray his younger brother that way. He might choose or be forced to choose by his current circumstances b
Minzy tilts her head, “You did not know about November’s real identity?”Leo laughs bitterly, “All the time we’d spend together is when she’s human.”It was so beguiling for Minzy, truly. She smiles, “All the times she’d been with you, she’d always been a wolf-shifter.”She had never met a human before. When she was young the only person closest to a human she’d interacted with was Victor and he’s a half-breed. Humans had always been either just an entity from another world then they had become a hindrance to their peaceful world. When Nicole reigned the Lunar Puer Pack, humans had b
Wolf November lashed out at another wolf, snapping its neck from the strong clamp of her jaws, her canines digging hard and deep into its opponent’s neck, she tasted his blood and the hitch of its broken breathing and mewling of a dying wolf. Growls and snarls were all over the place as the rest of them jumped into her at the same time. She howls when one bit the back of her hind leg and the other had slashed her back. Her white fur is now bloody as blood from the slashes gushed out. Twisting her body she threw the dead wolf away and slashed the other one. Saliva drips down her mouth as she swiftly moved to crash her body into another wolf, growling and snarling at each other. The other wolf yowls in pain when she bit into its belly, taking a part of its flesh, and watches when
Seeing the shock in his brother’s face Alex could only shake his head. “I get it… I get it, it’s hard to put it all together now. The shock will wear off soon though. Your wife is the same as me… November is a wolf-shifter too, the only difference between us is that she’d been born as one, a natural shifter.”Alex didn’t know how to explain all these unbelievable facts of information to his brother but one thing is for sure, it’s slowly sinking in in Leonidas’ mind. He’d been a witness of it first hand after all.Alexander started explaining, “This world exists… it hides away in plain sight. Not only wolf-shifters but all different kinds of shifters exist, we blend with humans,
Leonidas Maximilian believes he is trapped in some alternate world where everything his wife is saying is all hyperbole. If not it’s a whole big ass prank so he still believes somewhere out there in that white ass room, a hidden camera is recording all of his reactions and his wife is part of this. She did say something about doing something special on that dinner date of theirs. But then memories of that horrendous night keep on coming back. How men in black attacked their house, how his wife was suddenly strong as hell and was able to send him flying with just a flick of her hand. How all those men started turning into something four-legged and his wife did too.Breathless. Leo breathed hard. His
When Alexander Maximilian arrived in his brother’s home everything was in chaos and there was only November left in the middle of it all. All their pieces of furniture are all over the place, broken and stained with blood. He kicked some broken chair out of his way and ignored the broken glasses all over the floor, he stepped into some flesh he could only imagine what was left of one of the attackers. The remaining lights kept on fluttering while some of the busted bulbs were clinging in the ceiling. He reaches the foyer, forcing him to swallow hard with the image presented before him, welcoming him into the home of Leonidas and November Maximilian. Carcasses of wolves arrayed in the bloody marbled floor. His heart latched into his throat seeing November caressing a passed-out Leo lying on her lap.&nbs
