When we returned to the ward, she was speaking with someone on the phone. Nathan crawled back on the bed.

"You don't have to..." She was saying.

"No, that's not it. You shouldn't do that."

Nathan was tugging at her hair.

"It's fine Henry." She ground out.

Henry. Yeah, who else could it be? Our eyes locked. What could she be thinking? I dropped the things I got on the bedside table and began to offload them.

"Alright," she sighed. "He's good. He's right here." She was most probably referring to Nathan, who seemed too restless to sit. Now, he had taken the hem of her sleeves to be his new plaything.

"Nathan, Uncle Henry wants to speak with you." She handed the phone to him.

"Hello, Uncle Henry..."

"Yes!" He smiled.

"Okay." He chuckled, glancing from his mother to me.

"Okay." He returned the phone to his mother.
