A frosty silence enveloped the dining room as Beta Cleo and Sybille made their way out..

Clyde stared blankly ahead, his mind reeling, while Jace, Zane, and Natali exchanged anxious glances. Janice momentarily set aside her grief over the loss of her Beta and looked wide-eyed at the family before her, struggling to process the flurry of revelations unleashed by Sybille's outburst.

Joanna's face turned ashen, her eyes widened with shock and pain. Sybille's statements had mate it clear that their encounter wasn't just a chance happening. She gradually shifted her gaze toward Clyde.

"Could you explain to me what Sybille meant?" she inquired, her voice trembling with emotion. "You knew me well before our accidental meeting at Joyce’s. Why, Clyde?" Disappointment was clearly etched on her face, and she didn't attempt to conceal the emotions surging within her.

Clyde gulped, his throat parched.

"Joanna, I'm really sorry," he started softly. "The only reason I can give is that I was scared

His chest rose and fell heavily under the burden of guilt and regret."Goddess, I regret not heeding your advice to tell her about her past," he admitted with a sense of self-reproach. "Instead, I focused on strengthening her feelings for me. Hopefully, this will work in my favor now."Jace gave him a reassuring pat on the back."Yes, you should have," he agreed softly. "However, it isn't too late. Once she reflects on things, I'm confident she'll grasp your perspective. She cares about you deeply, Clyde, there’s no need to worry."They sank back into their seats, overanalyzing the present situation.Natali guided Janice out of the room, her arm gently resting on the younger girl's shoulders as she led her to the living

On the third day, Joanna finally emerged from the bedroom, a fragile ghost of her former self.Dark circles haunted her eyes, a testament to the tears she'd wept, and her face mirrored the somber mood that had settled over the household. Clyde, who had vigilantly guarded her door like a sentinel, sprang to his feet the moment she appeared. Days had bled into an agonizing eternity, each filled with the silent desperation of his unrequited pleas."Joanna," he breathed, relieved. He moved towards her and gently embraced her. "I've missed you. I know it was all overwhelming, sudden, unexpected. But I'm here now. We'll face this together, whatever it takes. I promise."Joanna looked up at him, her gaze still clouded with confusion."You could have prepared me for this, Clyde," she whispered, her voice hoarse. "Told me about… about everything. You spoke of our life together, of our future, but you never mentioned… you never mentioned knowing me before."Clyde gently cupped her face, his thum

The BetaThe pulsating bass of the club throbbed like a second heart, a relentless rhythm that vibrated through Beta Cleo’s very bones. He stood amidst a swirling mass of bodies in “Obsidian,” a club whispered about in hushed tones, a haven for the city's elite. Crystal chandeliers dripped from the high ceilings, casting an opulent glow on the revelers below. The air was thick with the cloying sweetness of expensive perfume, the acrid tang of cigarette smoke, and an undercurrent of something sharper, something that prickled Beta’s nostrils with unease, the unmistakable scent of illicit substances.Sybille, his mate, was in her element. Her laughter, high and carefree, echoed through the place. She pulled Beta onto the dance floor, her body moving with a fluid grace that was both captivating and unsettling. He felt her warm skin and her hand on his back, trying not to notice how every man looked at her. Sybille danced with a wild abandon, her hips swaying, her hair flying, oblivious to

The Beta decided to walk back home.He needed the quiet and cool night air to clear his mind. His wolf was still restless, disturbed by what they had seen. It left them both feeling pained and defeated. This wasn't how he imagined finding his mate would be.’Sidd, ’ he whispered to his wolf. ’Did the Moon Goddess make another mistake in her pairings? First Joanna and Alpha Abel, and now Sybille and me. ’His wolf made a low, distressed sound but remained silent. Beta continued talking to himself, his thoughts clouded, still replaying the scene he had witnessed in that club.‘I had so many dreams about finding my mate. We were supposed to meet, fall in love, and immediately start planning our future, our own house, many pups, and everything mates desire. I had pictured a life filled with love, loyalty, long walks under the moonlight, late nights talking about our dreams and fears, and a bond so strong that nothing could break it. But the reality was far from what I had envisioned, Sybi

When Beta Cleo returned to the Mancini mansion, a heavy, dim feeling settled over him like a shroud. At first, he thought it was the lingering pain of the broken mate bond with Sybille, the aftershocks of severing that connection.Carefully, he pushed the slightly open door and was surprised to find no one there to greet him. Usually, a butler or maid would be waiting to receive visitors, but the house was eerily silent.Yet, he knew people were inside, he could sense their sorrowful energy, a thick blanket of dark emotion that hung in the air. Following the scents, he arrived at the living room. There, he found his Alpha, Jace, Alessandro and Clyde, all naked on the floor. The Beta realized they must have just shifted back to their human forms but he wondered why they were lying there so silently, a scene of quiet defeat.“Alpha?” he called out in surprise, rushing to Zane’s side. “What’s going on here?”Zane turned slowly, his breath coming in ragged gasps. The Beta stared at him, co

“But where is Janice?”All heads turned towards the Beta, Natali frowned. The way he asked the question, so intimate and longing, puzzled the people around, especially since the Beta had rejected his fated mate a few hours ago and in the past, had never paid special attention to Janice. And now he explicitly asked about her, they sensed that something was brewing.“She left with Joanna,” Natali declared calmly. “She was the only one who remained sober after Clyde’s outburst. While we were busy restraining his wolf, Janice took Joanna outside. Try the mind link and see if you can still reach her.”Beta Cleo hesitated, he had always managed to avoid mind linking the Alpha female. It was too intimate, and she might give it a different meaning. And now, with all eyes on him, he felt somewhat uncomfortable.“I’ll do it later, it’s not really important,” he stated lightly. But when he looked at his friends, he saw disbelief and skepticism in their eyes.“We need to find Joanna,” Clyde inter

Twenty years later... "Come on, Clyde, the boys could arrive at any moment. Why are you dawdling today?"Queen Joanna expressed her irritation at her mate's sluggishness, who seemed in no rush to welcome their sons. The Princes had spent two years in Latin America, undergoing rigorous training alongside the sons of Joyce, Alira, Alia, Elena, and Janice. The younger generation had received basic combat and strategy training, a biannual rite of passage overseen by the Council, while the older ones immersed themselves in advanced studies of logistics, business, and management. Among them was Crown Prince Joachim-Georg, his return eagerly awaited. His triplet sisters, however, remained in the Kingdom, much to their displeasure. The eldest, Princess Ciciane Taylor Mariam, had made such a fuss that Clyde had no choice but to allow her to take martial arts training under Chief Warrior Rubio. This girl was a true rebel, known in many packs as the "warrior Princess of trouble."However, she w

She closed her eyes, savoring the intoxicating rush flowing through her, a wave of pure, unadulterated energy.“No need to panic, love,” Xin whispered to her, his voice a soothing balm against her surging anxiety. “I have never given you reason to doubt me. What is this?” Era leaned against his chest, surrendering to his silent, persuasive power, her resistance melting away like snow in the summer sun.“Joanna is insecure,” she confided in a low murmur, a confession whispered on the edge of a sigh. “She fears that a fated mate might sudd

As they stood before the grand, imposing doors of the Palace, Butler Clark came before them, his presence as steady as the ancient stones of the building itself.Clark was the same age as Alpha Maceo, but unlike the Alpha, who retained a youthful vigor, the signs of aging were etched deeply into the butler's face, revealing his years of service and loyal duty. Moreover, the butler was not as athletically built, nor did he move with the same fluid grace as Maceo.“Alpha, are you here to speak with the King?” he asked the visitor icy calm, his tone devoid of any warmth. “Please, follow me, the family is on the back terrace, enjoying a moment of respite now that Queen Joanna needs her strength.”Before the Alpha could offer a reply, Clark turned on his heel, clearly expecting the pair to follow him without question. The Alpha and his granddaughter exchanged a surprised glance, before stepping into the grand foyer. They walked through a long, winding corridor, passing a bustling, fragrant

"What did you say?" Alpha Maceo of the Falcon Crest pack thundered, his voice reverberating through the sterile confines of the Royal doctor's office. "Man, run the tests again! This… this cannot be true!"His face, normally a picture of composure and quiet strength, was now flushed crimson, a mask of disbelief and rising fury. He glared at Doctor Andrew, who sat calmly across the polished mahogany desk, his expression carefully neutral. Andrew held out the thin sheets of paper with the results. He read the conclusions aloud, his voice steady, each word a hammer blow to Maceo's bewildered mind, shattering the carefully constructed facade of his reality."Alpha, these are simple English words, and I assure you, I read them correctly," Doctor Andrew sighed, his eyes reflecting a quiet understanding of the turmoil raging within the older man. "And I assure you, I have run these tests five times. I could hardly believe it myself. But your wolf knows the truth. During the collaboration to

He answered them with clipped, precise words, his voice a low rumble.Although he always treated her respectfully, she could clearly feel his underlying power.Kenrick was definitely Alpha material. His dominance and confidence radiated from him. The intense look in his eyes demanded obedience. In Woodland, a convoy of vehicles, somber and silent, rolled to a halt before the imposing, massive gates.Three vehicles peeled away from the main group, one of them a hearse carrying the body of the fallen Alpha Abel. A lone warrior approached the lead vehicle, where Kenrick sat in the back with Sybille. As the guard drew closer, he inhaled deeply, his senses sharp, and his eyes widened in shock."Alpha Kenrick," he stammered, disbelief thick in his voice. "We received no word of your arrival. We knew Alpha Abel was defeated since the pack link with him was severed, but the circumstances were shrouded in rumors."The warrior sprinted back towards the gates and pressed a button. The heavy gates began to slide open, granting the cars access to the pack lands. He sent an alert through the mind link, informing the pack of Kenrick's sudden arrival.A flurry of activity erupted within the packhouse. There was no time for formal celebrations or to prepare a grand welcome.
